By the way I love how I can spend a maximum of 20 seconds to type a one liner smartass post and then have a bunch of people go crazy about it. |

crud, i messed up then and than. i usually get that, but the stuff in parentheses threw me off. i know all the grammar rules, i just dont care about them. i've been through all this way too many times. we dont use (or try to use) perfect grammar when speaking with our friends or other peers. we talk how we feel comfortable speaking. thus, online i talk how i feel comfortable speaking, because you guys are my peers (kinda).
and MoP, i really do now all the rules. i took AP English last year, got an A, easily. i'll take it next year too, and probably i'll get an A then as well. than is comparisons, then is the other stuff, blah blah. except is when it's everything but one thing, accept means u receive something (or whatever, i cant think of how to word it), i before e except after c or when sounding like a as in neighbor or weigh, but weird is weird so it breaks the rules, immigrants come to a country while emigrants leave one, and all that other grammar stuff. i do capitalize names of people, and when i'm typing formal stuff on here, like when i submit a simfile. and as u pointed out, i made a few mistakes, but i'm only human, and u knew what i meant, so why the hell does it matter??

by the way just a FYI
Saying "u" drops your respect by about -50% |

If it drops your respect level -50%, it would technically go up 50%.

well, i say u sometimes and you other times. idunno, i just type whatever happens first. i may use one and then the other within the same sentence. thus, since i use it sometimes, it wouldnt go up the full 50%

Darn. You're getting hit on your grammar again. It's extremely tempting to bring back old debates but I won't. I'm just going to recommend at least trying to make the switch over to literacy. Literacy is very fun and stuff. You can you know...read words that can be defined within real dictionaries and stuff like that.
I and probably all the "proper grammar advocates" here would more than likely agree that your credibility skyrockets with your ability to make sensical posts with real English words. Let's put it this way. If your post has no proper nouns and still throws errors in MS Word then we've got a few problems to work out. I close with a brilliant quote. Quote:
~Squeek PS - For all those people who "try" to be literate and fail (ie: capitalizing every word in a sentence) are worse than those who don't try at all. |

1) I wouldn't call literacy "fun and stuff," but that's just your opinion
2) Sensical is a funny word. Not bad, but funny nonetheless 3) To what word is that quote referring? 4) Capitalizing every word is just silly. Not as silly as toggletype, though

I've noticed you've started to use some good grammar about. Actually that was the first thing I noticed in your posts all over. Really great job. I can read them without problems and they make much more sense now!
When I first read it I was like, "Whoa at least this guy knows what he's talking about." And then I looked over at the username and saw it was you. Keep it up, you're doing great. ~Squeek PS - I replied to #3 by editing the quote above. |

DAMMIT! You ruined it...I was going to use this proper typing stuff for a week and ask if anybody noticed and when nobody did I was going to stop, but now I guess I have to keep going I don't mind it that much, it's just a hassle getting into the habit of doing it. Also, some words I say like I type them, such as "idunno." I very rarely actually say the three words separate, so I may type it like that despite everything else.
And the only reason I'm doing this is because I'm tired of everybody bitching. Having it all proper doesn't mean my arguements are any better, but you guys seem to think it does. I still don't see what the big deal is, you friggin grammar nazis...

Using correct grammar goes a long way towards making you more legible. Your above post is one of the few that I've actually taken the time to read, due to the fact that it's actually readable.

You guys are whack, yo. Really, I don't even notice when somebody doesn't use caps and stuff. Only time I notice bad grammar is when I'm looking or when English is obviously not their first language, or when they type retardedly like that guy in that flash making fun of Counterstrike players. That made him look retarded, but I don't see why not capitalizing a few words would make me look retarded...
