crack knuckles often (especially after hard files)
ghost tap to prevent boredom
hold tab for everything. even for other games thinking it would work.

Man, me too. And it lights up on TWO places for me. The key on the laptop and the indicator panel on top of numpad on external KB.

And before every song, I always crack my knuckles, finger joints, thumbs, wrists, and elbows (if they need to, usually don't). Makes me a whole lot more limber.

see, I do that, but I crack EVERYTHING. toes, ankles, back, neck. I do everything in my power to not stiffen up.

I also try to put myself into an intentional uncomfortable position when playing to force me to try harder and not relax.

If I'm playing a super hard file, I'll usually do much better if I lean forward, as in sit on the edge of my chair and lean forward so my face is almost on the fking screen <.<

my left hand (all fingers, specifically pinky) become stiff when I attempt to do one hand trills. in other words, they don't curve at all, my index and middle fingers just extend out

when I vibrate, I learn forward almost instantly and I also puff out my chest as well, close to the keyboard

my right pinky likes to hit the enter key sometimes

Ghost Mash before a song
Keyboard must be about 25 degrees tilted
Before I switched to playing with my knees crossed (lol playing on a bed) it was a habit to start flicking my foot to keep the bpm
Fingers must be freshly cracked, minor joints and all
Sway to the beat if I can't shake my foot, usually fuq's my PA though.
FFR - Mouse must not be in my peripheral vision.
When a hold comes up I see how long I can go with my finger being off the key before the game registers it as an NG
Noteskin must be one color. Multi-colored noteskins mess my reading up.
Reposition seat to be arms length away from kb when playing SM, but not FFR.
Fingernail in the way when playing SM? Bite that ****er off in-between songs (yeah "ew" but whatever)
Stretch my fingers if I can't crack knuckles, flex shoulders, stretch a bit
First note on a song must always be watched like the ant who stole the last crumb of food. Gotta hit that shit perfectly or else it messes me up for some reason
Noteskin -> Brightness files deleted those keypresses always piss me off after the "huge combo" number is reached.
Metal musics = Hard heavy keytaps, soft stuff -> soft as hell keytaps
Last note on a song: hit that thing like a 747 airplane from the sky.
Stepmania Syndrome: When you are trying to type after playing Stepmania, and your sentences look like it was typed by someone with MS.

I also can't MA if I have fingernails. Sounds ridiculous, but the shorter my nails, the better I do—they bother me to no end otherwise

Also, I ghost mash will playing the song.

There will be notes and I will ghost mash will hitting those notes. ....that's one of the reasons why I'm inconsistent with lots of files/o/

Edit: I also alternate my fingers. ex: doing streams with index and middle, then switching to middle and ring every 4 notes or so.
Even sometimes with a slow jack.~

* not being able to PA simple staircase patterns that goes from left to right in ascending order (eg: 123456)

* make weird faces while playing whenever I'm:

• playing a fast/difficult pattern
  at the end of a marathon file; especially when my stamina is drained
  very close to achieving a personal milestone

When I make new/edit files I put little to no steps at all cause I just end up listening to the song. I try again but I keep listening instead of stepping so it takes me a long time to finish files.

I play with my earphones because my Mac Mini's speakers are bs, but due to the fact that these earphones have a somewhat short wire, it ends up dangling over the keyboard in the middle of my fingers. So I place my face funny, turn my keyboard, computer and monitor in angles and make weird finger gestures to avoid it in general, or else my score gets messed up.

Crack knuckles, twist wrists, (always stiff as a plank though...), try and ghost vibrate, massage my neck, tab always pressed (except ingame), etc other habits like accidentally hitting the power button that's next to print screen (allmyrage.jpg)

THIS SO MUCH

sometimes I'll turn on Autoplay and play random songs, hitting the TAB key during the fast parts to watch the Marvelous! flashes just whiz by and hitting the key above it to watch the dramatic parts just sag

sometimes I'll hit a particularly emphasized note and just fling my hands upwards as if the song is over before I get back to playing

not having cdtitles bugs me. like, it really really REALLY bugs me.

At the end of a chart I hold ~ to hear the rest of the song so that it doesn't end abruptly (only certain files of course).

Others I have to hold ~ and [TAB] to freeze the screen to hear the rest.

Man I never managed to actually catch their rhythm because it's a weird mix between 12th and 8th so it's somehow internally frustrating.

Also I remember having issues to play certain calm files because usually my tap is so gentle I just touch the key but not actually tap it.

Try it, once you tried it, you can't stop. Your fingers get grafted to the key and you end up having a finger permanently holding it while you're in the menu without even thinking about it. It's just like the running key in Super Meat Boy.

OH ALSO.
When there are mines on an "empty" part, I tend to ghost tap the song on the free panels everytime a mine meet it. It's my little artificial risk just as when I ghost tap the holds.

Sometimes I talk to the file while playing. I say things about it, about the music, whatever.
