Deist.
I'm curious to hear from the agnostic who is in complete support of everyone else's beliefs....If you honestly believe that it is impossible for the human mind to comprehend the answer to any questino about God, the Universe or the Cosmos...isn't being supportive of people who say they -can- a little like encouraging 5-year olds to believe in Santa Claus? |

Re: Your religion
Atheist, however, I am in complete support of all religions.
A history lesson: Since the beggining of time, man has strived to "rule the world" and create a unified empire under their rule. Many have come close to such a feat, such as Alexander the Great, Adolf Hitler, etc. However, with so many different minds and opinions, how would it be any at all possible to unify a world of differences and eliminate all conflict so as to create the perfect society, utopia? The answer: religion. Most all religions teach ONE way a person is to act, and sets a strict rule of moral and ethic codes. Example: Christianity is one of the best examples, for it uses the one of the lamest excuses for its teachings "it just is". But what the bible teaches, if everyone were to abide by it, would create a perfect society. Now, everyone knows to be a good samaritan, act nice, be kind yada yada yada, but what enforces us to act in this as a lifestyle? What is the "or else" that pushes everyone towards following a religion? That my friends, is the idea of afterlife, and where you will spend it, being in the ever damned and forever suffering in hell, or the holiest milestone, heaven. Clearly the two distinguish between good and evil, right and wrong, blessed and damned, and most everyone chooses to reach heaven. In order the reach heaven, however, one must follow the bible, or qu'ran, or whatever one follows, in order to reach foreverlasting happiness. As well as one of the most used reasons to follow a religion "Jesus died for your sins". This affects many people one the basis of "the ultimate sacrifice", and would make one feel guilty for letting him die in vain. This is what unites a people, creates a utopia, builds an empire, but the controversy of different religions has prevented the worldwide dream of unification, yet still created subdivisions of civilizations in turmoil over religion. So, I follow all religions minus the worshipping and praying, I "do unto others", accept death, maintain a reasonable ethics. I've learned this while living in a hardcore religious household, where EVERYTHING is based on belief, and it's made me think...

I, however, do not grow up going to church, so the concept of God was never instilled. Perhaps it is because I am, and always have been, an Empiricist that has led me to the belief that if God exists, science will be able to prove it, but until then, religion seems like a bunch of nonsense that everyone takes too seriously. And if you were offended by my previous sentence, you are taking things to seriously. Stop it. |
