Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
i need to stop by and finally finish paying my copy off. i'm pretty sure the reservations at my store alone are over 100 now. That's... quite alot from such a small gamestop location "Limited quantities" is looking less like a rumor these days.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
I didn't do my research and I didn't read every post up to this point, but I do believe you couldn't play as Captain Falcon outside his car until SSB. Besides, Brawl has done some amazing things. What makes you (Squeek) think R.O.B. WILL NOT be playable?

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
R.O.B is not playable because he appears to be an enemy from the Subspace Emissary.
Also, as said before, R.O.B has only made appearances as a sideline character with no significance. You can race with Captain Falcon, but you do not do anything with R.O.B. He just kinda stands there, on the side lines, not doing anything. EDIT: There appears to be no wave dashing in those videos. ~Tsugomaru

Also, Fox wasn't a playable character outside of his ship until Starfox Adventures. He was in Smash 64 and Melee regardless of that fact. You're still playing as the character in their natural environment. R.O.B. is just a peripheral. He's not a playable character in his natural environment. From what I remembered, they never said anything about wavedashing. Not saying anything doesn't confirm there's no wavedashing.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Actually, it was like the first thing they said, since that's what people were most curious about. Now, wavelanding is still possible, but most likely impractical, by doing a ground-level glide into the ground. Not that it'll really matter until the game's been out for a while and everything starts to stabilize.

Every aspect of any game can be exploited. Give it time.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
But you can't exploit a part of the game where there's no exploit. If they fixed the game so that you can't wavedash, I highly doubt that you'll be able to given time.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Hey, idea.
Let's just play the game as it is. A game. You know, something to have fun with and enjoy. The developer has included about 500 hours' worth of content, and that's just single-player. Isn't that enough for you? I don't know about you, but I don't buy video games going "i wonder how i can exploit this game to pwn noobs online!!1" Last edited by Squeek; 01-27-2008 at 08:07 PM.. |

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
And as I've repeated countless times, finding things the devs didn't intend and using them to become as good as I possibly can IS fun. That IS playing the game. That's how I have fun, by becoming as good as I possibly can using any methods short of those deemed illegal by the community. This includes finding and utilizing exploits.
You don't have to accept why I feel like this, but I'd appreciate it if you accept that how you have fun isn't necessarily how others have fun. Simply playing the game as a casual party game isn't fun for me. Quote:

Wow, I didn't mean to start up an argument about wave-dashing again. Jesus you guys are all so quick to defend your stance on it.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Well, I don't think wavedashing is the heart of the issue here, but rather, play styles. There are people like Squeek who have the most fun just playing a wacky casual party game, which is fine. Then there are people like me who have the most fun by improving my skill as much as I can, and knowing as much as I can. I'm much more competitive.
I just don't appreciate it when others consider their way to play the "proper" way to play. If others want to play casually, that's fine with me. I just don't want to. The beauty of Smash is that with all the customization, you can play whatever way you want, and if people prefer different ways to play, then all the better. |

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
It's going to turn into a wavedashing argument in the end. We've seen this at least 5 times now. In the same thread.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Whoa, whoa, people...
I never said that I wanted to find something wrong with the game or to exploit it in any way. I only said that given time, people can exploit the tiniest bug to be something major. Name any game, there's a glitch for it. No exceptions (well, sorta). Not even pong. |

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Tsug, that's why I'm trying to end it before it gets to that point.
Basically, long argument cut down really short: Everyone plays differently. Some people are competitive. Some are casual. Neither is better than the other, and each have fun in different ways. They're still enjoying the game, so it's no one's place to say just how another should play. I'm hoping we're all in agreement on that point, and can just let this whole "Exploits-playstyle-flamefest" thing go with that. |
