Re: NotFFRon
I think it'll come back to life once it gets finished up, and the tokens are implemented, and it's finally posted on the front page and stickied.
More likely: most people aren't patient enough to spend several hours trying to think of new ways to interpret a clue until they hit on the right one, and don't have friends who they want to work through the puzzles with.

Re: NotFFRon
Well, that's essentially what I'm getting at. I didn't mean that they can't do it (I probably should edit my post because it makes me sound like a prick), it's more so because they're struggling and don't have anyone to turn to for help. Others just don't want to go through the entire game because it's incredibly tedious.

Re: NotFFRon
IMO a good riddle site needs to really ease up on the difficulty gradients. You have to make the first 10-20 levels piss-easy and full of handholding. Only then should you start to deviate a bit from the rails.

Re: NotFFRon
The other problem with riddle sites is that when you get stuck, you get stuck. If a player can't figure it out in a sufficient time frame, they'll enter CBFmode and never come back to play again.
The alternative is to invoke something that I plan on doing if I ever get around to making a riddle site of my own. |

The inevitable truth is dropout can't be prevented, but nullifying it can be done through a few ways, like alternative levels coming through multiple possibilities from a single level. Different paths to the ending would take a little bit more effort because you'd need to add a few extra levels, but introducing multiple levels of thinking through two different puzzles on the same level could help get people through because of different interpretation. |

AJ -25 is surprisingly easy and doesn't take nearly as long as what you are assuming x:

Re: NotFFRon
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about this. Now that I'm back on campus, I can do things, so yeah, expect -18 soon. I'm also starting to think of ideas for NotFFRon II, which will hopefully be more organized and more fair.
