Re: Skill Rating & Leaderboards Discussion [Updated Feb 17]
Yes, DDRNGGin, the division boundaries have changed, and they will continue shift slightly until we find the sweet spot for each division.
Your grandtotal is updated in the database as soon as your score records. This means tracking your grandtotal rank is currently impossible, unless a separate database table would be created to track your score since you last updated your leaderboard levelranks. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add this feature to my to-do list. Last edited by PrawnSkunk; 02-18-2015 at 04:13 PM.. |

Re: Skill Rating & Leaderboards Discussion [Updated Feb 17]
How exactly will the division placement done by this system affect actual division placement? I would assume you would use it as a guide post followed by actually checking for non-FC scores that would sway a decision one way or another.
Or, just set this up by raw score and save everyone tons of trouble. Nice work though, this looks great! |

Skill Rating will not determine your division placement in an Official Tournament. Although components of the leaderboard (and future technology) may be used as a reference, everyone's levelranks will be processed manually by a team of division placement judges. edit: Using skill rating as a supplement will, however, affect actual division placement in the sense that it is more likely to catch cheaters and sandbaggers that would be missed by human analysis. I know, right. I have not meet any of the requirements to be considered D4 yet.

Kanzas, Monstrous Turtles is a low-60s difficulty song, not mid-60s.

Entry level D4s get like mid SDG on various 59-60ish stuff
Hell when I became D5 I was still struggling to consistently SDG mid 60s |

Re: Skill Rating & Leaderboards Discussion [Updated Feb 17]
Suggestions:
Add skill points section on results screen in R^3 for every score. Upon searching, display a player's rank within their division as well to assist with tournament placements.

Has the system recently changed in the past day or two cause my rating went down 26 points. I didn't think it could go down?

I am not sure if the formula changed recently, but remember that if a song difficulty is adjusted your rating can too.

Re: Skill Rating & Leaderboards Discussion [Updated Feb 17]
That said I can definitely confirm there's a chance the formula might be tweaked soon too, but I'd expect that to come with an announcement or at least a detailed post in this thread.
There's been several areas identified where the accuracy of the ratings could be improved, and various developers have been addressing the formula further (read: making even more complicated/awesome) Although this of course comes with the caveat that the adjustments could wind up not working and nothing will change, so always remember that. BOOM STAFF TRANSPARENCY
