I don't know if it's just this monitor or not (I'm at work at the moment) but it feels like it could use some more contrast.

Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)
It's somewhat soft on purpose, i think it fits well the song's mood. However it's not lacking in contrast, try on another screen maybe?

Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)
Just a minor thing, but "thoughts" isn't capitalized in the song name. Only "Clumsy" is.
And nice gfx; the flowers add a better touch. The song has a light-hearted, playful nature. |

A note to file reviewers: if you have reviews you'd like to share, you can just PM them to me and I can update mi40's post for reviews while he's away.

Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)
5ive STAR (valor)
I didn't like the 7 repetative measures near the beginning and neither how the chart died down at measure 25 when it was about to pick up. The jacks were noticably harder than anything else in the file, which makes the chart feel unbalanced in difficulty. Just vry it up and it should be okay. Blah Blah Blah (moches) Heavy & Standard- It's good, however there are a few issues: Measure 4's Gallop seems unnessecary. Measure 9's a little cluttered. Maybe tone down the mines and get rid of the green notes. On standard, the notes feel akward since more of them ar eon the left hand. Measure 16's difficulty spike is the densest part of the song and it comes right before the chorus, what feels like the climax. The previous complaints carry over into the second loop, which makes it obvious you copy/pasted. The mines at measure 28 stick out in a section devoid of them and there's no real reason for them in the song. The chart could have ended at the random rapper section. Standard felt like a lazy edit of Heavy. This could be nice, but it'll need a lot of work. Clumsy thoughts (bmah) Heavy & Standard - Those 24ths feel like overkill. Maybe replace them with holds? Please? I can't read Heavy's 69th measure. All in all I think that the song's high bpm would require you the understep this. :< EDIT: Checked out Light. Seems as though you only left in the holds from the harder difficulties. Put some more in since the vocals you don't emphasize feel left out. Information Leak (danceguy) I had a few initial doubts, such as a few bursts and it's repetativness, but measure 85 was a bad move for a pack of easy files. Po Pi Po Kouka de Uchi no Miku wa Kyou mo Genki Desu (0) I don't see it am I not kawaii desu enouf? Roxas (James May) I can see this as good gallop pratice, although this chart is rather dull. Shy Guy's Toy Box (alloyus) The only real problem is the 24th drills. On a personal note, please get a better rip, random spikes of loudness is irritating. Theme of Hawkeye (ferrari) Heavy - A good chart but it's too hard. Standard - Maybe if the thing you did at measure 9 was a little easier to read, then it'd be good. Nice freezes btw lol. Light - Feels like a lazy edit of Standard. If Standard's the main chart for the pack, I didn't tell until I actually played it. :/ Virus (Live Launchpad Original) (CosmoVibe) Heavy - Pretty fun, but it's a little hard. Light (?) - Simple but fun. I like it. Also learn about zip files too asfasd Weed Circulation (ReikonKeiri) The jacks after jumps seems a little much, but the chart's not lahf bad. 4.5 (0) The jumpjacks was the first sign that this was too hard, and the rest of the chart made my horrors come true. Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)
@art: well heavy IS the main chart, standard was meant to be a simplified verison of heavy but maintaining the same flow so someone thats at an intermediate level of stepmania could play it while having fun on the file. i was thinking of moving heavy to oni and standard to heavy etc so that the file is not viewed as too hard for a heavy. then maybe add a light thats a lot easier and then make standard a little easier as well
@necros: im glad that you liked the file. i think that ill remove ALL of the mines on every difficulty since they annoy me anyway @mi40: i can change the accents and do what i said prior to necros.. no mines at all lol also im making one other file for this so give me like 2 weeks k |

Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)
raine's reviews are a bit on the harsh side but that doesn't mean you guys' files are completely rejected!
he means that: your file is not in its best shape fix files up with what he + necros + i said and make sure to resubmit your files! ps) we need more songs that can pertain to the mainstream, so having a few mainstream artists like britney spears & macklemore is o.k.

I'm PRETTY sure 16th rhythms and 8th note doubles is considered to be super easy. especially at 128 bpm. if you're gonna reject something give constructive feedback plz, which I see none of here

saying my file is "too hard" sounds absurd since i could quad it within one try.. besides me being able to do that i'm sure most people on this forum and this thread could either pass my file with a AA to quadding it too |

Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)
Umm, yeah...I suggest people play ALL of the charts I made for any given song.
lmao It's like people want me to make some in-between difficulty out of several difficulties (e.g. three) I've already made. That's ridiculous. Last edited by bmah; 06-7-2013 at 10:23 PM.. |

Re: Stepping Stones of Stepmania (Submissions Open!)
Well I think this song is about as good as it's going to get without feedback. Submitted! Here's hoping that it doesn't totally suck >.>
