Honestly, I would half expect all of the songs to be available over DLC eventually... don't think they'd do something lame like that: make the songs only available over a disc at walmart. I don't even have any walmarts near me.

I'm going to buy the RB bundle when it comes out on the 19th. But I was wondering something. I plan on buying every song possible. About how much Microsoft Points will I need to buy every DLC song?

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
one would hope not. Also $40 for what's probably one album worth of songs sounds like as big of a rip off as Guitar Hero: 80's was.

Shame they don't have the cost listed individually, but they're normally 160 MSP each, give or take the free ones or the savings you can get by buying albums bundled. Quick math: I count 259 on that page available at present. I do not know if this list includes the 20 from buying RB2, and I am not sure what sort of savings one could get by buying bundles or free tracks. However, at 2 dollars a piece, 259 tracks would cost 518 dollars. [edit: might also want to consider the 5 dollars cost to download RB1 tracks, as well as potentially owning both games if you feel naughty about renting/borrowing RB1 and only owning RB2.] Quote:

That, and there is nothing wrong with simplistic drum performances. Sometimes that is more effective. Notice that the drum's place isn't the front of the stage; the drum is support for the music, not the leader of it. Go listen to someone playing a song on drums without accompaniment and compare it to any other instrument by itself. But seriously, take a look at ACDC's discography some time. One of the best, even if your instrument of choice isn't necessarily in the front.

I know AC/DC's discography very well - my brother used to love them and play them a lot. And, of course drums aren't a leading instrument. I'm not saying that all drum tracks should be a drum solo constantly. But look at any moderately skilled drummer - even from the same period - and you'll see that they don't play the exact same thing the entire way through the song and fill maybe twice. They establish a beat, then alter it almost constantly to harmonize with everything else that is going on. No, it doesn't need to be in front of everyone else; no, it doesn't need to be extraordinarily complicated. But it sure as hell isn't the exact same thing for 90% of the song's duration.

I came at the AC/DC pack. Good thing I have a Wal-mart only 5 minutes away.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
wtf frown
I have to sing falsetto otherwise it won't read my tones at all. What kind of **** is that. Like, if I try to sing in a more natural key, it's like it can't tell when I'm pitching up or down AT ALL. Good thing singing isn't the reason I like this game. I recall having a little trouble with the first one, but I don't recall it being this bad... I don't recall having to sing in my upper register just to get pitch sensitivity. ps people that don't like ACDC suck cock you seriously would not be playing this game right now if ACDC never existed

Also: godwin's law lol ps flawed logic because WWII games are fighting nazis but these band games are emulations of the bands; that is to say, one demonizes and makes the player do battle, the other venerates and makes the player emulate. EDIT: btw playing on harder difficulty is getting me the sensitivity I'm looking for, but it's making it much harder to not fail. Funny. Also: find I can also sing super deep and it'll accept that too. It's like the singing portion of this game is useless to me unless I sing like a little girl or darth vader. EDIT*2: happy medium found. If I sing in my upper range only and on hard difficulty rather than medium things should be a lot better.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
Mess with your sensitivity/distance the mic is from your face until you find the right setup. Mics are kinda inconsistent with what registers and what won't, you just have to figure out the nature of your mic. Most setups have trouble with the low range, if anything. Maybe your "midrange" is a 5th off or something and you just think you're taking it up/down an octave but your ears are deceiving you.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
Afro I can relate to what you say, singing seems so annoyingly off to me. But after a while of practice the game has actually taught me a bit about my own range and I've gotten the hang of it. It's really quite accurate.
Also Chilli Peppers songs are amazing. Suck my kiss is fun on every instrument.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
I think my problem was about trying to eat the mic. I pulled back and noticed an improvement on my comfortable middle range, but that was on like that last song I played. And it still was a bit weird. And while singing, the mic made it's way closer and closer without me consciously doing it. Yikes! What does that say about me?
The worst part though for me was that I got my best scores while not really even singing... more like high pitched noises, not even trying to do the lyrics (because I didn't know ANY of the lyrics for like half of the songs I played today). And yeah, the spoken word stuff is terrible-- I made it halfway through that Beastie Boys song by rubbing the mic with my hand and I ended up getting 100% with the only "skill" applied being when the "tambourine" parts came by.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
Turn your sensitivity down if you eat the mic. That's what I have to do.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
Yes, though it takes a bit of time to adjust reaction-wise, compared to guitar Hyperspeed. I still have to adjust >.<
PS: It's called Breakneck Speed now.
