If they're really so bad that's more of a reason for me to get one. Warranty + electronics that get exponentially better + fauly stuff the breaks before 5 years is up = gain for me.

However, this evidence is not staggering. They lost a lot of money because of it being faulty. You're grasping at straws to make Sony look bad because you're horribly biased. They could come out with the best thing in the world and you'd downplay it to no end. It's really annoying. Yes, PS2 break down. Did it cause Sony a lil bit more sales? Probably. Was it "the primary reason PS2 outsold X-Box"? Of course not. Quit pulling things out of your ass. Until you get me some actual proof (and "well my friends say" and "out of the 5 people I know" doesn't count. Any time people use that same evidence for the other side people like you attack them about it) then I'll keep saying you're full of crap, cuz you obviously are.

Maybe not, but it gives hyperbolized facts and figures that make it seem like the PS2 outsold the Xbox and Gamecube by more than it did. By a landslide? Oh sure, but most likely not as extreme as Sony makes it out to be.

When a bunch of people say it, maybe it isn't that much crap. Mind you, I will admit that Squeek and nforcer have little Nintendo fanboys inside of them, but we've got a few others saying things about how PS2s aren't so durable.

Just to note, I'm seriously considering buying a used PS2 once I get the money. I have nothing against Sony. I've never owned a Sony product besides blank CDs from Sony, so I have very little "personal experience" to share (those CDs weren't bad, but they weren't good, either, but I won't get into it because you'll have more of a reason to think I'm biased against Sony).

ps eb I've already ordered a DRE'd PS2 from Ebay for my birthday present.

They're cheap because people are too lazy to fix them by themselves, whereas I've already fixed like half a dozen.

Bump.

Sorry guys. Everything I read on Joystiq about the PS3 is bad news. I just happen to be the bearer of said news.

Seems the guy who pushed the $600 price tag on you all isn't satisfied with this extortion and wants to get even more from ya.

Quote:
Are you of the mind that $60 is too much to spend for a video game? According to Spong, they say that Sony exec Kaz Hirai has told PlayStation Magazine that anything over $59 should be expected as far as pricing goes for their next-generation games. Spong quotes Hirai in PSM:

"I don't think consumers expect software pricing to suddenly double. So, the quick answer is that we want to make it as affordable as possible, knowing that there is a set consumer expectation for what software has cost for the past twelve years. That's kind of the best answer I can give you. So, if it becomes a bit higher than $59, don't ding me, but, again, I don't expect it to be $100."

So, really, how much should we all be spending on games? I've had many a casual gamer come up and mention that they heard the PS3 games will cost upwards of $80. I don't think we will see that this generation, but it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility. Is Metal Gear Solid 4 worth $80-$90? How about $70?
...

Whereas on the other turf, the Nintendo president promised no more than $50, with lower prices for certain third party titles (similar to how the Super Monkey Ball games were $30 each when they were released).

Oh my. "Next gen pricing" is really ridiculous. It happened with the N64/PS age and unfortunately it's happening again =/

What grandia's hidden message was:

THE EXECUTIVES OF SONY ENTERTAINMENT CORPORATION ARE TELLING US FACTS ABOUT THEIR UPCOMING CONSOLE.

This isn't speculation. Why would we want to wait until the release day when the information is ALREADY AVAILABLE.

The only thing we'll have to wait for release day to find out is to see how people react to their purchase.

You mean how pissed off they'll be when their $600+ console dies almost immediately, rendering their $70+ games worthless until they drop another $600+ bones, only to see the console die again? And how about that "warranty" that covers it, eh?

No hostility meant towards you, Squeek. I know what your ideas on the PS3 are already.

I'm getting a Wii.

The PS3 surely won't die. There are tools all over the place willing to pay that much for a PS3 and $60/70+ for PS3 games.

Let's not forget the REALLY dumb people who think that price = how good it is. There are actually a nice number of them out there who think like that, sadly.

Kinda, but it lacks vibration and instead has a motion sensor. A better one than is in the Wii one, if I remember correctly.

The PS3 controller's shape isn't very conducive to some things, like using the controller as a gun, though, so I dunno if the motion sensing will be a big help...

Im pretty sure the ps3 motion sensor thing is not as complex as the wii motion thing.

HAHAHAHA.

The PS3 one gets six degrees of tilt. The Wii controller can detect position, pitch, and motion. And you know what's funny? The PS3 tilt sensor was implemented AFTER the Wii controller's capabilities were revealed. It just adds to the list of what Sony steals from Nintendo.

Actually, Sony had been working with the Warhawk developers for about 4 months before e3 about the axial tilt.

Oh I get it, I heard it had 6 degrees, which for some reason I meant 6 things it could perceive, as opposed to 3 with the Wii controller.

I'm not sure what else it would sense, though... o_O

When it comes to the PS3 controller I'd much rather have vibration than
motion detection. Like eb said I'm not really gonna be enjoying pointing
my controller at the screen while holding it with both my hands, it just
does n't work as well.

Which is why, as Miyamoto has already pointed out, it's more comfortable to hold in your lap and play in a more casual way, not flailing in front of the screen.
