Re: SM Scores
This run was a bit better on 0x1311, FC but I botched some of the freezes in the quads

Re: SM Scores
I think we all know about Rubix's FFR scores by now, but I didn't know you were that good at SM o_O
I can (could) barely beat that Ox score haha.

Re: SM Scores
I began on SM -- if you can ace that you can do well in FFR given you learn framers. What is your best 0x score btw? Someone in the SMO chat was saying you had like 2 greats or something insane like that, almost an AAA

my ox score is here: http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6...en00522ls8.jpg They accepted the mirrored run as a world record score, oddly enough. My score without mirror on is like 7-8 FC I think?

Re: SM Scores
Holy crap, intense. I never understood why people use Mirror or why it helps. It must only have use after you've played a song enough to have decent muscle memory for it, and mirror somehow does something to one's play, I'm not entirely sure.

I'd say there are two reasons why. For the first, my assumption would be that these sections are hard to improve normally because of bad habit. You develop a memory of stepfiles naturally as you play them, and sometimes mistakes and problems with certain patterns stick with you. The easiest way to get around it is to reverse it so your brain has to read the patterns freshly rather than just from memory...all while having the advantage of knowing the song well. Secondly, occasionally it has nothing to do with memory or habit and it's simply easier because the mirrored patterns are easier to hit. This is most common when there are jackhammers or trills on your bad hands side.

Re: SM Scores
it changes the bias of the notes... many songs have really hard left-hand biased patterns... mirroring makes them right-hand biased. and most people are right-handed.
at least, that is my notion of why people use mirror. i don't play SM, and if i did, i wouldn't bother mirroring or shuffling or whatever. play the file how it was created.

Re: SM Scores
Ah that makes much more sense, I can see now. Interesting way to filter out learned errors -- I will give it a whirl sometime.
Tass: Yeah, I should have mentioned that -- I have used Mirror before for the sole purpose of hitting left-hand-turned-right-hand megatrills, but never for the purpose of accuracy in itself. |

Re: SM Scores
Speedmods are fine, just don't use a CMod and keep mines on. Not like the tricks are that hard or anything.

Re: SM Scores
Pants, third try, mirrored, it actually does feel a little weird
Edit: As a side note, I advise anyone playing this song to get a nice subwoofer, holy crap I was so jamming to this thing Last edited by MrRubix; 09-20-2007 at 02:50 PM.. |

Re: SM Scores
My friend (who isn't active online at all) is also an avid SM player, and I have a few of his stepcharts. This one is his version of Vertex Beta, let me know what you guys think:
http://download.yousendit.com/95B712535DF34B60 Personally I think this would be a more suitable Vertex Beta vRofl lol Last edited by MrRubix; 09-2-2007 at 03:41 PM.. |
