Icy, that 15-minute file you slapped together has been a godsend for GTS whores everywhere, and for that, we thank you.

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
I'd like to give this a go some day, does anybody have any tips?
like easiest songs to whore for GT? I was thinking whoring the opening to vRofl with autofail set to kick me before the pain starts, and just mashing that out for a day would be a good way to achieve 1b. Any thoughts? (Obviously not here for the VB, I just like a little enduring challenge here and there :3) |

My biggest suggestion would be to set up a nice video playlist to watch for the majority of the day, or some music to change it up. Get a series you have been wanting to watch and prepare a marathon; also have them set to play automatically so you don't lose any time fiddling around with that. Media to occupy your time is the most important thing you can have (in my opinion), and will probably be one of the deciding factors in preventing you from giving up. If you have Windows (I'm sure something similar is on other operating systems), you can mute individual programs such as the flash standalone you might play FFR in. Check the task bar, click the speaker icon, click "mixer", and mute the program (the flash standalone containing FFR) when you have it open. If you have headphones, they might help you reduce the amount of key smashing you'll be hearing while watching or listening to media throughout the day. From my experience, if you fight the feeling of being extremely tired, after a few hours it begins to subside and be far less taxing on you. If you are only going for a billion, you'll probably be able to make it there before you loop back around to feeling as though you are about to pass out from exhaustion later. So when you feel really tired at first, try your best to fight it, since if you do, you'll feel better for a while. Also, it is a good idea to just change your setup to something very clustered (like asdf) and use a single hand to play. Then if you hand starts to ache, you can give it a long break by switching your hands as you play.

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
Thank you both for your advice, the video playlist seems like an excellent idea, I'm gonna use this opportunity to finish watching Higurashi no Naku koro ni Kai.
I don't have FREEDOM DiVE and mashing on VS Boss Battle seems... sorta wrong. I know I'm only whoring for GT and pa doesn't matter in the slightest, but I just wouldn't feel right mashing it. Unfortunately my headphone jack is broken, so to counter the sound of mashing I'm gonna either find a decent set of speakers or swap to my laptops keyboard; which has a pleasant muted click, rather than my preferred noisy old usb keyboard. Luckily for me when the server hits midnight it's only 5pm here, so I'll be able to have a big sleep in, wake up mash through the night. I'm gonna go it on the 4th, I really wanna see my name on that Top Daily, All Time ladder ,Wish me luck |

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
I really have no doubt in my mind that you will be able to do it. All it takes is some concentration and being able to not be bored throughout it(which watching something or listening to music will do the trick for) and its done All i can say is go for it, and im pretty sure you will be able to succeed :P

Don't feel bad about mashing VS Boss Battle, that's exactly how the newest high got recorded was through many many many MANY plays of that file.
Good luck on your adventure! |

Best of luck pulling in one billion man, and if you make it, you should really get on the top 10 all time GTS list. It's a little less than 1.1 billion to get rank 10, which isn't bad for a spot on the daily stats page until someone else tries to surpass your score (when you are trying for a bill already).

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
Because it's a pretty big accomplishment, I want to leave my mark
edit, thanks popsicle, I should probably stopping lurking every dozen songs edit2, blindmashing the vRofl intro is a terrible idea. too much effort for too little gain, you guys were right about VS boss battle, though the only downside is I have to look at the screen now. :P lol edit3. I was really unprepared for this, this is insane edit4, somebody kill me please edit5, I was really dropping behind around the six hour mark, but now I've eaten I feel a little more refreshed. It's been 8 and a half hours and I'm sitting on 384 mil. My hands don't want to go on, but I must keep pushing. I don't want my efforts to be for nothing! also I was wrong about mashing vRofl, for me it's definitely the way to go. I have VS boss battle to thank for me falling behind in the first place. Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
I can't do this anymore.. I just can't. I'm gonna get to 500m then stop.
I now have an unspeakable amount of respect for the people who made it onto that list. You guys amaze me. At my level, that's like climbing a mountain using nothing but your teeth. It's been 5 years since you made it up there, and you're not gonna get pushed down today. Maybe I'll tackle this behemoth of a challenge in the next week or so, but for now, I must rest. |
