Isn't that a secret song?

ps.
Should blue note secret songs be changed to non-secret legacy songs?

Not doing this for purchased ones as of now since it might break something.

this is so confusing and messed up, look, you aren't subjecting newbies to crappy songs, they aren't stupid and can probably realize that there are colored note songs, blue note songs, and background songs, and even when I joined and knew nothing, it was pretty damn clear which were older crappier files, and we have plenty of for beginners, easy, very easy, etc. songs that are colored. I say we leave them, and like everyone else who's level ranks were DESTROYED by these songs and had to spend hours trying to AAA them don't get a finger. And btw, how will moving them effect anything? If you aren't removing them, just moving them, it's just like, let's move all the sh*t files in one place so people know they're sh*t. Bull. As I said, we weren't stupid, we knew what files are old and bad and which are new and good, there's enough in the game that moving them does nothing and leaving them doesn't deter players. When I started I avoided SSSG like the plague, and played songs like Halcyon and that SGX file that we all love that are blue songs which are nearly perfectly synced. And mario 8 bit and trip to the moon are not offsync or bad either IMO, there's no need to do this except making a genre labeled "sh*t" and shrinking 3 genres down to one page or, for funk, 3 songs. yeah, great idea.

actually stavie not many people visit the forums, even some of the top grandtotal players

as a matter of fact most people come on the forums

and thus nobody knows that those blue note songs are old, neither did i when i joined in 2006. legacy is good i guess..

Songs like Mario are offsync as hell, if not as bad as SSSG.

? I thought they weren't terrible, since they kinda go to nothing, there just straight quarter notes, that's pretty easy IMO. Or maybe I'm thinking of the wrong file, idk, I haven't played it in forever, but it's NOWHERE near as bad as half of the green background songs...jesus. And yes, I'm passionate about this because I think it's just stupid. You aren't getting rid of them, you aren't getting rid of the ranks, you are just 'moving' them and shrinking some genre's into nothing and destroying the nostalgia of dance and classical.

mario 80s mix is actually notably offsync (50-100ms). watch leonid's AAA of it and it'll be obvious

if it got a resync I wouldn't mind it being public

the nostalgia isn't going anywhere, if you want to nostalgia it up yo play legacy genre

Mario 80s mix NEEDS to be that offsync for Starman to be a possible token, otherwise its as bad as entering a Good attack tourney. >.<

I do agree we need more Funk, Hip Hop, and Classical to fill out those genres. Please, enough dance/misc already!

I never got the feeling that Starman was about offsyncness, the file is so easy that sync doesn't even come into it.

I dunno about Funk, but it shouldn't be too hard to get more easy-ish Hip Hop and Classical files. Maybe someone should find a hip-hop or rap artist that they like and can get permission for, and then start stepping the vocals.

I was looking through the song list and I found something kind of surprising. Everything prior to neomax, which I am pretty confident was the first colored song, is in legacy. Other than the purchased songs which haven't been moved for other reasons.

Although there is the song "The Essential" that is actually stepped by synthlight and is before neomax, but has colored notes. Was this song turned into colored notes later after they figured out how to do colored notes or was it actually the first colored song?

I think that one was redone with color notes + onsync.

Then after that they realized they were able to fix old songs but were to lazy to do so. That would have been the perfect time to do it to.

I don't remember well but 3-4 songs were fixed at that point.

everything is "technically" fixable w/ correct sync and color as long as we have dwi and mp3.

Well yea they are fixable, but now we aren't going to because they are "legacy" files. Back then there was no conflict because they were all new files.

Yeah in short, these are all Synth's decisions.

Basically he wants to keep blue note files as they are, and he just wanted to fix a few ones for some reason at that time (early 2004?).

Not *everything*. Some of the earliest files (mostly by Synthlight) were not made with a dwi at all, but were basically just done by recording keytaps. If a blue note file has all the jumps 1 or 2 frames off, you can be certain it was done this way. The later Synth files (and files by other authors) do generally conform to a set BPM, though.

I agree with Synth's decisions, though. It's wrong to make a song easier after all these years.
