Rubix... assuming the spreadsheet works as well as you're claiming... might be a cool thing to make public at some point, for others running similar style tournaments (myself, devonin, jon, etc).

Round 3 Gaming Challenge Music Catch: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Reflexive/music-catch This game is a lot of fun -- calming, yet frustrating. Who can dominate this musical madness? Objective: Go for the highest score that you can. Ranks will start at 1000 points for Rank 1, decreasing by 1% down each rank. Post your screenshots of your scores in this thread. Mental Challenge This round will test your general problem-solving, mathematical, and logical abilities... and in some cases, your ability to be pragmatic. Each question is worth 200 points. Please PM me all solutions. 1. Mr. LOL tells lies on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but tells the truth on all other days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Mr. ROFL tells lies on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but tells the truth on all other days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday). They are brothers, and both have the same voice and share the same phone. You receive two phone calls (one from each brother), but they do not mention who they are: Call 1: Mr. LOL will tell the truth tomorrow. Call 2: Today is not Tuesday. Who, with full certainty, made which call, and what day is it today? 2. One day you ask your friend for some licorice rope of a specific length. However, after your friend got the licorice and gave it to you, you discovered that your friend had obviously mixed up your order, as he accidentally switched the number of inches with the number of feet and vice-versa. As a result, you only have 30% of the licorice you wanted. How long was the licorice rope that you asked for? 3. You are blindfolded and put in front of a table that has an even number of coins arranged randomly. Some are heads up, while others are tails up -- you don't know which is which, but you do know that there is an equal number of heads and tails showing. You are wearing gloves, making it impossible for you to feel a coin to determine whether it's heads/tails up. You can flip coins over, however. You cannot remove your blindfold at any time. How can you separate the coins into two identical piles with 100% certainty? 4. You have two hourglasses. One takes 5 minutes, while the other takes 13 minutes. You are unable to judge how full an hourglass is by eye except when it is either completely empty or completely full. How can you use these hourglasses to measure 16 minutes? 5. You and your two friends stay home and eat a few bowls of popcorn and finish off 4 liters worth of Diet Coke. While watching a Harold and Kumar DVD, a masked man jumps in through the window and kidnaps all three of you. You're all taken into a dimly-lit cubic room devoid of windows and stripped of all your clothes and possessions. The masked man claims that he is, in fact, Jigsaw from the Saw movie series. He claims that a few days ago, while he was playing catch with his dog, he had accidentally thrown the ball into your yard. Not knowing where it came from, you had spotted the ball and thrown it into the street, where it proceeded to fall down a sewer grate. Jigsaw struggled for hours to reach the ball, but to no avail. His dog became sad, and this enraged Jigsaw. As a result, Jigsaw wishes for revenge. You will have to find a way, now, to retrieve a hard-to-reach ball. He informs you all that in this room, there is a titanium pipe approximately 80 centimeters long embedded in the ground. About 2 centimeters of this pipe sticks up out of the ground. The pipe cannot be moved. The bottom of the pipe is sealed off. However, at the bottom of this pipe is a standard ping pong ball (standard diameter of 40 mm) that is only slightly smaller in diameter than the pipe itself (44 mm or so) -- enough for it to fit. However, the pipe is obviously too small to fit your hand in. Jigsaw says that if you can get the ball, you live. Otherwise, you will all be left to eventually starve to death. He closes the door and locks it. You and your friends look around and notice that you have the following tools lying around: A fork, a wrench, one foot of plastic wire, a magnifying glass, a half-filled saltshaker, a bowling ball, a steaming-hot box of chicken nuggets (your last meal, perhaps?), and a box of matches. What is a feasible, non-debatable solution for getting the ball to ensure your survival (for best results, be realistic: What would actually work without question?)? FFR Challenge So far, you've been tested on your ability to handle mods, as well as your ability to handle "anti-skill" objectives. We're going to eliminate the mods this time, but your accuracy will still matter, as well as your ability to intentionally screw things up. Each challenge is, again, worth 250 points. Challenges #1 and #2 will be graded as a function of (your score/max score)*250, whereas Challenges #3 and #4 will be ranked, with rank 1 being 250 points, decreasing by 1% with each lower rank. Challenges #1 and #2 can be either submitted in this thread or PM'd to me if you wish -- either is fine. For Challenges #3 and #4, please PM me your screenshots so your strategy won't be revealed publicly. 1. A throwback to old-style FFR: Get the best score that you can on CIA Rave (Dance2, Page 3). 2. Achieve the best score that you can on ESC - Super Version (Dance2, Page 4). 3. Using any song you wish as well as any Autofail settings you want, get as close to a score of 1,000,000 as you can. Remember that a score is calculated as (Max Combo * 1000) + (Perfects * 550) + (Goods * 275) + (Averages * 55) - (Misses * 310) - (Boos * 20). 4. Get the worst score on any FFR song that you can under the condition that you must at least survive long enough to hit the last arrow/arrows of the song (in other words, the sum of Perfects, Goods, Averages, and Misses that you get should total the number of steps in the song). No "boo-out" functions/programs are allowed -- standard four-key input only! Last edited by MrRubix; 06-9-2008 at 09:12 PM.. |

Added
I also posted a thread with a scoring template for those who wish to host their own tournament and want something that's consistent and error-free

Re: Omnipwn Tournament: Dual Core
I've valued the prized based on my own personal value that I place on such objects as well as the amount of effort required to earn them. If someone chooses to not accept a prize, that is their own decision. If someone wishes to participate but not be ranked so that others have a chance to earn points, however, that's a different story. It just makes things difficult this way with the scoring system because it's technically an exception (a case that's in the list and yet isn't graded)

Re: Omnipwn Tournament: Dual Core
I always liked the whole Tass does not accept prizes. His scores on rounds usually scare people off, and I win the 1st place prize.

Re: Omnipwn Tournament: Dual Core
I don't accept prizes either, but that's just because I'm arrogant: "Come on, this isn't a fair fight"

Re: Omnipwn Tournament: Dual Core
This is true. I tried to paypal Rubix 20 bucks for my 2nd tournament which never finished but was being dominated by Rubix... and he wouldn't tell me it.
