it's being bought so much it probably doesn't suck. Or at least suckage is minimal. While this isn't necessarily true, as seen by the Dreamcast, it is usually an acurate measurment for the suckage of any given thing.

Suckage is only to those who cannot accept its awesomeness. That was directed at the Gamecube and X-Box camps btw.

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
It was the only next gen console out for a year, guys. That helped its sales quite a bit. X-Box 360 will most likely outsell the PS3, if for no other reason than it was here first and will be much cheaper (especially by the time the PS3 is released).

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
Has Microsoft outsold the PS3 by now? Of course they have. Microsoft has had a one year jump on Sony. However, will Microsoft outsell Sony nay outsell Sony AND Nintendo? Hell no. Microsoft better suck it up for the next few months and hope thier games propel them because PS3 + Wii = not alot of sales of 360s in the near future.

Sony sez: GTA won't be exclusive on our console and we don't care to fight for it. So, if you're like eb and getting a PS3 for GTA, don't! ~Squeek |

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
The only reason why it sold so much, is because it had a good dvd player, and PS2 may have sold the most consoles, but the top 10 best selling games are almost all on Xbox and Gamecube.

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
The primary reason it sold so many units was because people had their original unit break down two years after they bought it and needed a new one lest their collection go to waste.
Nick off half of the PS2 units sold for a more practical estimate of how many people bought one. ~Squeek |

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
Squeek that's BS and you know it. Especially after a class action suit against them, there weren't THAT many rebuys because of that breaking problem.
PS: I've owned 3 PS2s, but we always get a warranty on any Best Buy purchases (except like, DVDs and games), so we've actually made money because of PS2s breaking after price breaks. =) EDIT rather than overpost: Benny, there's a problem with the laser. They get offset overtime just from normal wear and tear. They get calibrated wrong because of this and stop being able to read certain kinds of games. Both the PS2s I had with the Disc Read Error problem stopped being able to read purple and black bottom discs (most are yellow, but some PS2 games have purple bottoms and PS1 games are black). The problem slowly got worse and we asked Best Buy to fix it cuz it was under warranty and they said it was a common problem. It was such a common problem that there was a big suit and Sony lost. If your PS2 has this specific error, you can call up Sony and make them fix it free of charge. It's a really simple thing to fix if you know how, but most people don't wanna void their warranty so they just send it in or ignore the problem.

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
I STILL don't know why ps2's break. Ours did break recently, but that was COMPLETELY my fault, and it has not had any problems caused by the model, production, or anything.
ps: It was like 6 years old. ps: sony products don't break in my house, I don't get it at all.

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
Well, PS2's may break down, but Xbox 360's break down unusually fast, and i'm not getting one just for that reason.

Think man. Think. Best Buy had three of its PlayStation 2s removed from their inventory only to be placed in your hands. That counts as three Playstation 2s sold. You think Sony would be the kind of company to remove the original two you had from the total count? No. Three of their products left a retailer. That's three sold. Not to say that Microsoft and Nintendo don't do the same thing, but it's uncommon for one of those to break down. At least not as common as it is for a ps2. PS - Look on eBay for how many people don't care to fix the DRE themselves and just opt to get a new one. People are lazy EB. Very lazy. So lazy that a large portion of our society would be totally suckered into paying full price for something instead of handling the mail-in rebates. Suckers. ~Squeek Last edited by Squeek; 06-22-2006 at 09:52 PM.. |

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
You're still reaching. Half of sales? It's BS. How you can be so ignorant and hypocritical is mind-boggling. Get our head out from up Nintendo's ass and think straight for a little bit, please. =\

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
Ok, sorry. I don't have any proof other than statistics offered to me without much research.
Every person I know who owns a Playstation 2 has purchased more than one. This is over two dozen people. So maybe I just met the wrong people then? People who are very good at breaking things instead of those who take care of things? You said it yourself! Your Best Buy guy said it! "THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM." Come on man, put two and two together. Or rather, divide by two. ~Squeek |

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
Ha, I bought three. But now that I think about it, if it wasn't good, I would not have bought it multiple times.
Besides, I have had only one PSP and my last PS2 is incredibly tough. I think Sony's getting better at product reliability.

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
Sony getting better at reliability? Hah! I had a regular Sony tube TV for not even 10 years... guess what? Every 20 seconds or so, the screen would go blank for 5 seconds, not to mention that it took a full 60 seconds to the picture to appear when first turned on. We recently replaced it with a plasma Samsung, but damn... TVs are not supposed to go out like that.
Sony might have high-end technology working for them, but they sure don't build for endurance.

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
Out of 5 people I have ever asked about their PS2's, 4 have bought or recieved another PS2, whether for getting the slim version or because of it breaking. I think that last person has only had a PS2 for about 2, maybe 2 and a half years.

Re: The PS3 Is Here.
The evidence is staggering EB. See what I mean.
Sorry to just assume, but it's so plainly obvious. It's not even just the Playstation 2. TVs break down before long, stereos just suck, CD players have no durability whatsoever (put it in your backpack and watch it die). I refuse to buy Sony products because I know they just don't last. I have eight, ten, twenty year old electronics in my house. I know some people who need to get a new one every few years cuz they refuse to get anything that isn't a Sony. They just aren't built to last. ~Squeek |
