Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
I'm sorry, I should have made a "There's still no official word on which files have been queued from the Stepcon" post whenever it was brought up. Responding would have been common courtesy, and I didn't do that. Now I'll remember that no news is still news.
I don't really know who would make the call now on whether or not the Stepcon auto-queue rewards are still valid. ... But, yeah, if that reward interferes with others' batch submissions, those steppers should be notified and given the option to keep their file in the batch or replace it, with a grace period. (Given the points Nathan made, giving the steppers the choice sounds the most fair.) Aside: Quote:
There was one Sept-October submission email in September, ten emails in the first 26 days of October, then twelve emails on the last two days and fifteen in the first three days of November. Last edited by Silvuh; 11-10-2014 at 03:48 PM.. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
There shouldn't even be a grace period for normal batches if everything is normal.
As far as I know there were no unforeseen issues with this past batch, so why are people sending shit in for Sept-Oct in the first 3 days of November? If you forget, too fucking bad, you had 2 months to do it. This thread's been stickied in the exact same place for that whole time, it's not like anyone is hiding the due dates from you or anything. The fewer stupid grace periods and allowances that are given to people for just being forgetful, the easier the bookkeeping will be. And clearly, the bookkeeping needs to be easier. (obviously still give grace periods if something unforeseen happens i.e. this stepcon issue) p.s. I'll just point out this is somewhat ironic coming from a guy who took 1 month to finish giving prizes for his custom tournament, but that's the point. Jae (back then it was Jae) shouldn't have put up with my bullshit, and now, Silvuh shouldn't be doing so either with regards to the batch. Lay down the law, get things moving again.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
*headdesks* Yeah, you got me there. Going to start keeping a batch log in the OP, so I hope it will be helpful.

I did confer with bmah about allowing that three-day grace period (because he was the one who responded when I asked in Judge Chat). It felt odd to have such a small batch, but ... yeah, that doesn't justify letting more submissions in. I don't know. "It felt right at the time" is all I guess I can say. This has been a bit of a transitional period in terms of who's doing what here, so ... Hm. Yeah, no excuses. I'll be more strict with deadlines, but I'll also try to give more notices in the thread about the batch in general and through PMs for files getting any privilege. |

i picked unpause the heat because that was the only 2 of my charts that could be salvaged into something playable. i've got a lot of fixes to do before it's ready to be put in-game, and also, more important things to do than worry about stepmania. it might take another month or so.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
good to know, ty
Good luck with your other shit in your life, hope it works out. If you mean the bimonthly SAP cap... ...do you even know how many files people like me and ilikexd have saved up? (hint: it's like 20+ each)

submitting my This Will Be The Day (James Landino Remix) chart from Step Con as a normal batch submission, since I (rightfully) missed the chance to have it queue'd as a prize from that contest
if anyone has a problem with it, I really don't care |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Got some more supplemental judgments in last night. Only files still needing some will most likely not be getting SAP, so I can update the spreadsheet now with these numbers. Note that conditionally queued files that did not have fixes sent in have now become resubmissions.
I don't even know if PrawnSkunk ever saw that his file got conditionally queued ... So because of my own lack of communication, I'll still let his file into the queue if he sends it in again soon and doesn't want it to go through the batch again. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Point of clarification: why does being CQ'ed not award SAP? I would think that if the file is fixed within the given CQ window to a satisfactory standard, then SAP should be awarded. Honestly it's all kinda academic since SAP matters about as much as credits, but it's kinda strange.
For instance, if I submit a file that's worth an 8 average (like pisscord in this case), that does not preclude my file from having some obvious objective errors that I might have overlooked (due to tunneling in on the way I think a file should be stepped when there's an obviously better way or whatever). Certainly these objective errors justify some kind of penalty, but that penalty is already levied on the score a judge gives to my file.

If PISSCORD does get judged again and only gets in the 6.7-7.5 range the next time, I will consider giving it the two SAP it would have received the first time. It would be the nice thing to do, but I'm not sure if that's actually fair. Maybe I'll take the average of the two final ratings and see where that puts it. Four ratings isn't necessarily a representative sample of the whole team, but we don't really have the power to do much more in a timely manner. |

Are there any updates with the files mentioned here:
I mean the La Triste sent e-mail I never found so I'm cool sending that in another batch, it's more the other two I'm curious about. Thanks |
