?_?
Wow, that's really odd. Every note was on the edge of the early good frame for me.

When Tass gets back from San Fransisco and people annoy him about it and then he has free time, he will fix it.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
yo 0, what files would you hold up as examples of overusing PR? thanks
btw what do subbies think of witches hat? I had to use unconventional layering for some of the sections because handswing doesn't really make for a good file

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
well, some files like radio heads that use the same note patterns are fun at first, but get a little tiring. it would be more fun if it used a different repeated arrow throughout the song.
I can't think of any others at the moment, but that's the main one btw witches hat is a great file, the swing style is really cool in that song.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
One could argue trills are better than jacks because that pattern is closer to the motion of strumming, if you know what I mean.
I also find Radioheads really tiring.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
I agree with this. Also for drums, too.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
But it really just depends on what type of file you want because you can argue it both ways and neither are wrong.
My example of too much PR would be OMW v2. Creates some awkward patterns and nonintuitive stuff. That said, I love the file to pieces.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Stepmania isn't meant to emulate the feel of playing any particular instrument, but the feel of replicating the song as a whole. If that makes any sense

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
I didn't say that it was but who says it's meant to do anything. I can interpret a song however I want and if representing how it's played too, I can do that. Equating single arrow PR to one noise is just one way to interpret an instrument.
I'm not saying that it does make you feel like you're playing the instrument more to do trills vs. jacks but that it represents the motion better. The back and forth motion of a trill is like the back and forth motion of strumming. You can't tell me it's not.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
probably tass is going to say that RATO and vb ROFL are the hardest songs on FFR because RATO is much harder than DP.

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
DP's harder to FC because of the ending, RATO is overall more difficult, vRofl has them both beat

Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Behan should've cut the song, since the song repeats itself numerous times. If anyone else made a simfile like that, it'd be rejected for length. The song itself is awesome. Length is the only reason why I still have a BF on that simfile.

Stepmania is a game. Games are made to be fun (and often times challenging too). Trying to put a black and white definition on how people are supposed to design fun doesn't work because everyone does it differently. Files exist in this world that have virtually no PR that are still a lot of fun to me. Files exist in this world that have practically perfect PR that aren't much fun at all to me. And for each person, the definition of "fun to me" changes. So, yeah, saying Stepmania is "made to emulate the song as a whole" isn't really a global definition, it's just the policy you personally use to step your files. Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread
Stepmania is a dance simulation game. However else you would like to think of it is up to your own interpretation.
