Cause this sounds completely different from this. It's probably just me. :P EDIT: I broke 3 different bass pedals before I bought a metal one. 1) The very end of Don't Fear The Reaper, I went kind of insane then BAM! 2) Drum solo in Tom Sawyer...lawl. 3) This one was hilarious....the calm EASY part in I Get By. I was hitting the bass pedal way too hard. A fourth one was destroyed, but that was my little brothers fault!!

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
Never broke either of mine. I'm way careful with them. I fatigue more easily because of the way I step on it, using the top of my foot only, but eh. I'm only 5,000 points from 300,000 on Won't Get Fooled Again. I had a brilliant run where I almost hit 300,000 before the tricky solo, but failed out on said tricky solo because I lost the bass beat and was out of it before I realized what had happened.

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
Could any of the drummers provide some tips on passing RttH on Hard? I'm not really worried about a 5*, given that I've come to terms with the fact that I make a better guitarist than drummer both in the game and on an actual instrument.
I seem to get wrecked at the verses, where it RRR RR Y with the normal bass hits in there. I dont know if its how I'm rolling, or if its my timing on bass thats killing me. If I can get the rolls down, is it imperative that I hit the bass, aside from trying to get overdrive?

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
First tip: If you're at RttH on hard, you should probably just start working on expert. RttH hard is more difficult than expert, IMO, because it takes extreme coordination whereas expert only requires minimal coordination and lots of muscle.
To actually answer your question, the thing you need to worry about most is the bass and the yellow pad. In every song, the bass drum and red pads are worth more health than the other three pads, but since red and yellow are switched the yellow pad becomes worth more health. Get to where you can hit the bass on beat no matter how poorly your arms are working and you will find your health bar much higher. A way to cheat the song is to either (a) play straight 12ths the entire way (you'll most likely miss plenty of notes but as long as your yellow and bass drums are on beat you'll stay alive) or (b)play straight 16ths the entire way (less desirable since it takes more muscle and you're guaranteed to overdrum along with whatever notes you miss, but it keeps sticking simple). If you're interested in actually learning how to play it for real and not just cheat a pass, make sure you're using RLR RLR sticking the entire song. The Hand That Feeds expert is a good training song for that sticking, but as I said earlier, you're probably just better off moving up to expert and forgetting RttH hard actually exists.

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
So, I've actually been doing it wrong by hitting the red like a maniac to keep myself afloat?
And, it just occurs to me...I think I've been playing backwards all this time... I'm a natural lefty, although I play guitar right handed. However, I actually sat down and looked at the way I was drumming just a little while ago, I feel alot more comfortable going LRL on RttH than RLR. I'm thinking I should switch to Lefty for this. EDIT: I actually dont know when I should be hitting to keep a nice stream of 12ths >_>;

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
If you do 12ths, your right hand should land on the yellow. You don't have to do exact 12ths really, just do a slow flail that lands on the yellow every time and you should get through.

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
Alright. I'll try this in the morning. Can't really play anymore tonight, given second floor bedroom, parents room right underneath me, and the bass on this song vibrates my floor something fierce.
Thanks for the tips, dore. Edit: I find it kind of funny that up until this point, I've 5/4*'d every song. Going off just patterns alone, not speed, I found Afterlife and DFtR much, much harder. Editv2: Passed! 4*, only thanks to the big rock ending.

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
Ah me and my friend found a way to buy these songs now, even if we're not in America (American account on PS3, VISA on an American adress lol). We noticed some Orange Box song to be free And now I can finally play Blinded By Fear! Now to hope I don't break more than his pedal (trying 2 sticks, not 3).

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
**** YES. Awesome awesome. I practiced the solo a lot. Still sucked at it though. What really happened was I survived and hit most notes for the first two solo sections then used star power to carry me to the end.

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
Also,
We were pleased with that one. I was on the guitar like, made a stupid mistake. So much fun though. Not the song, just playing the game how it was meant to be played. There was no achievement though ;__;

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
Haha Mal is picking up details, but yeah he's right.
Gawd it feels so good we can finally use the store, I've been doing some vocals. My first Expert pass was on New Wave (92%) haha, grunting is fun - so I go from azn hiphop/trance to white rock/metal! And got my first 5 gold stars on Enter Sandman. Now I'm practicing with Blinded by Fear again - I keep messing up after a while (and no I still don't want to use 3 sticks, that's just gay). |

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
OMFG Finally 5*'ed Blinded By Fear on Expert drums!!!! Just barely made it..151,275!! Took me ALL WEEKEND to learn it and do it right...that makes every song in original setlist/bonus/DLC (I don't have every DLC, I still don't have the Car's album and Jimmy Buffet pack) 5*'ed.
Time to work on gold stars. x.x I only have the first 2 setlists gold starred, 29 Fingers and Enter Sandman. xD Great. EDIT: Just to make it clear I cheated and used 3 sticks..doesn't make it as impressive, but I couldn't do better then 4 1/2 stars on BbF. =( SORRY!

Re: RockBand. More Awesome.
Congratulations s0ulst0n3! Even with 3 stick it's quite something, 'cause it's confusing. You have any tips for me (I use 2 sticks though)?
I wonder if they will put Wait n Bleed by Slipknot in the store... And more Muse! Please no Panic at the Disco! XD |
