It means the majority of psychologists do so, and considering where psychological theory and diagnostic labels come from it's not that much of a leap to say these words were chosen to communicate a certain notion.
Anyways, since the people who are capable of making decisions that can have a person forcibly committed, medicated, treated, and barred from certain social institutions place that onus on the word; well, I suppose that is what enables them to do all those things in the first place, isn't it? |
