Default Re: Take out the ****ty old files

i think overall, just to put everything together
*new genre for offbeat songs (like a challenge genre)
*colored or onbeat versions of songs for 3rd style ( theres plenty of people that would love to do it)
*combine funk and hip-hop (make it like... heavy beats? i dunno, do whatever you want to call it)

Default Re: Take out the ****ty old files

There is something that really gets me frustrated when I'm playing old Synthlight songs.
It's not the offsynced notes. It's not the weird gallops (I'm currently 2 goods off on both Too Tight and Get on the Move). It's the pointless squares in Dance and the pointless circles in Funk.

Maybe making new versions of the song and deleting the old ones is out of the question. Maybe just syncing them is out of the question. I'm not recommending changning the songs.

Here's what I recommend: for off-beat (and maybe overstepped) songs with backgrounds, I recommend an option that can turn off the backgrounds for those songs and those songs only. This would be done to allow the player to focus more easily on hitting the notes since they cannot rely on the music.

The backgrounds can become a big handicap when combined with off-synced notes.

Why? Two obvious reasons:

1. Backgrounds with multiple flash objects appearing and disappearing can cause the file to lag CPU cycles, and even though you probably did hit the note right on, there still a chance it'll be a good instead of a perfect.
2. You can lose the notes in the backgrounds.

Too tight in Funk (1.5) is a good example of a reasonably well stepped song that has a horribly inconvenient background. Blue arrows on a blue background makes it easy to miss notes, and the song can lag when the notes pick up because the circles are constantly appearing and disappearing. While it may not be a completely mindless file (again 1.5/6), it's not CIA Rave by a long shot. Yet it only has 40 AAA's. For that kind of song, especially one that's been here so long that's rather low. Sonic 1 Final Zone has more than 5 times the AAA's. And Switchback, which was very recently added, also has more AAA's than Too Tight.

If the option were implemented, people might be able to enjoy the file better.

I guess I don't have anything more to say.... I don't think anything'll be done, but at least you can't say I didn't try.
