Gosh, I must be missing out, since MY .mp3 files only have sound.

Heheh, of course not. Moonspeak is much too complicated for us yankees. You're apparently basing this off my comment that I preferred when it sounded like gibberish and assumed that meant that I couldn't understand Japanese. I can (slightly below JLPT 3 level, which is terrible, but still), but I have to concentrate to understand it, so when I just listen to it normally, it still sounds like gibberish. And if you're learning another language, listening to songs in that language can help you learn the language (and to those of you who would ridicule me for this, I wouldn't place it anywhere near the value of plain ol' studying), and you feel accomplished when you can finally understand it, making it even more enjoyable to listen to that language, resulting in a nice feedback loop, as well as associating positive feelings with the language and making you more willing to do serious study.

Edit: Also, for anyone thinking Japanese language learner = weeaboo, I'm also learning Spanish.

Because foreigners are just as good at making music? This makes no sense whatsoever here, and you come across as a bit xenophobic, saying that you're acting like something you're not for listening to foreign music.

Re: Does anyone like asian music?

I haven't read all the stuff in this thread so whatever

I primarily listen to Asian music- mostly J-Pop/J-Core. I tend to simply prefer the language more- the way it works/sounds, etc. I generally don't listen to music that's really similar to English music, though; cultural influences and such play roles. I also occasionally listen to other stuff like metal and jazz (which what I listen to typically isn't by an Asian artist).

Asking what asian music is like, is like asking what english music is like.

There's a hell load of it.

However, I do enjoy a large majority of Asian music.

It's a long way between the vocals and the actual overall music of a song. I simply implied that I don't give a **** about someones voice if all I understand is that they don't speak my language. You can have a great voice and sing about anything and create great catchy music for the masses. I'll tell you that nothing makes me more angry than listening to an elongated over dramatized "oh" in a song or a "yeah"

Now I'm not saying that's what these foreign singers are doing. I'm just simply stating that if all I have to go with in the song is a great voice, then there is no interest for me.

It's an opinion not a law you can try to back up and justify your musical tastes and try to contradict mine but I have my right to my opinions and to state them.

You just keep having a great time listening to music you can't understand I hope you live an exciting cultural-warped life.

I hear more over dramatized "oh"s and "yeah"s in American music... But I hate it even further when Japanese people try to mimic American singers with Japanese accents. It sounds disgusting lol.

Re: Does anyone like asian music?

So what Shaionei is saying is that people shouldn't listen to music that has nothing to do with the language they speak and their culture? Right. What a hypocrite. I'm pretty sure you listen to some pretty weird European rock or whatever. Yeah, your ancestors might have been that particular ethnic background back whenever, but you have no idea what Swedish culture is like or whatever. It makes you a huge hypocrite - so don't even bring culture into it.

Language is different though. Anyone can listen to a song in a different language and enjoy it, even if they don't really understand what's being said. Hell, people are even dedicated enough to learn a language for the sole purpose of understanding songs that are sung in that language.

I don't want to be Japanese - I'm proud of my Mexican heritage. I am fascinated with foreign culture though, and you guys obviously aren't because you're calling us "weaboos" and other things for liking Asian music.

This is what pisses me off about teenagers the most. You act as if whatever YOU enjoy listening to is the ONLY thing people should like, and you put down other people for liking music that you don't. It's extremely rude. Grow up. You might as well go up to your parents and grandparents as well and call them ****ing idiots for liking the music they like. Get over it.

EDIT: Oh wait, I forgot, Shaionei doesn't give a damn about his family at all. Might as well go kill yourself instead. There's one thing that makes relationships with people work, and that is tolerating the fact that they are different than you. No wonder you can't get a girlfriend, much less get along with your mom. Just shut up and quit being a crybaby and taking out your anger on every god damn person who doesn't like the **** you like. Seriously, just get lost.

2ND EDIT: Also Shaionei, some of the music you listen to isn't even singing. Sounds more like someone dying.

3RD EDIT: The only reason he's being such an asshole is because I like Asian music and he hates me for breaking up with him. He never even went this far to insult Japanese music when we were together. GROW THE **** UP. And stop posting.

Re: Does anyone like asian music?

I simply can't understand why weaboo's will buy into ANYTHING that's Japanese. I have a few weaboo friends and I still don't understand why they watch this stupid series which is ridiculously boring and has no plot. Why classify a genre of music AGAIN when it sounds the same but it has different lyrics. If you like the way the language sounds that's fine but I highly doubt that's even half of the reason why you listen to J-<genre>. I have to agree with Tokzic 110% on this one and he's not trolling at all ffs.

Also lyrics really shouldn't be important in music anyway. You should listen to music because it sounds pleasing and if you listen to music for any other reason besides that your listening to the wrong genre (Rap/90% of Pop).

Traditional Japanese music originated from Chinese music anyway.

Also, Americans weren't the ones who came up with the "J-" (genres) - Japanese media did. I don't see how that makes anyone "weaboo". Most of you just type random bull**** out as if you know what you're talking about.

Because listening to music mainly because it comes from Japan would make you one IMO.

                              Completely and utterly wrong.

Someone's a weeaboo when someone's fascination with Asian culture becomes a retarded obsession. They start to think everything Japanese is better than their own. They buy Asian food over other food because they're convinced it tastes better, they listen to Asian music because they're convinced it sounds better.

I like anime. I like some Japanese bands, such as Loudness. I'd like to learn the language. But I don't want to move there, I don't have anime plastered all over my belongings, and I don't jack off to Japanese chicks. I am not a weeaboo.

Good way to test: If you buy pocky, which is essentially ****ty, expensive cookies, you're a weeaboo.

I didn't know that someone's favorite candy determined their cultural infatuation. Pocky isn't bad nor good. I don't like candy in general.

I appreciate Europe as much as East Asia. The only reason I have anime all over my profile and signature, is because anime is a pleasing visual medium. As I said before, I like European music (random British, French, and German music from the radio in my travels in Europe). I'm no weeaboo or japanophile either. Basically, weeaboo (I don't even know why such a term was created) is an ethnocentricism revolving around Japan.

Uncalled for, unnecessary. Before you abase weeaboos, you should quit dumb responses like these. Way below these so called weeaboos. If this isn't an outright and direct insult/offense, what is?
