So I just read through this thread, and I think this is a great idea, especially if it expands into lesser known players.

Re: meet your makers. (d6 destroyers)
this thread aside, expect alot more spotlight in tournaments both official, and nonofficial. pre tournament interviews with players from every division, as well as interviews as the tournaments are played out. post tournament interviews with the winners, as well as some extra prizes depending on the tournament :]
edit: i have one more interview to add to the OP(this interview was not one of the first batch of players selected :]), along with those who have not submitted. i look forward to hearing from the next batch of interviewees as the current batch was very interesting to hear from. expect an OP update later tonight around 9pm server time. once again thank you to everyone who has taken time to answer these questions, its greatly appreciated.

Re: meet your makers. (d6 destroyers)
m0de, be aware that posts seem to have a word limit. Not a specified number of words per se, but a data amount that will cause a database error if exceeded. When that happens, talk to me and I'll see what can be done about it.

Re: meet your makers. (d6 destroyers)
Well I -could- replace TC_Halogen's post with yours so you can have a second one, but only if he doesn't mind. Anyways, shouldn't be a big deal for quite some time.

I was thinking perhaps link the individual replies in the OP, in regards to the post size limit. Should stave off the problem for a while longer.

more then half of the interviews were sent via PM, and some were posted in the thread itself.

Re: meet your makers. (d6 destroyers)
little side question that goes out to everyone, not just the elite players..
- how do you feel about the recent difficulty change? - who would you say surprised you the most this year as far as "skill boost" goes? - what feature would you like to see added/changed, and why? (let the community speak, and im sure it will make FFR better :] )

Re: meet your makers. (d6 destroyers)
How do you feel about the recent difficulty change?
It had the right idea of changing the scaling, but the 1-99 scaling basically becomes subjective at that point. Consider files like AIM Anthem and Crowdpleaser. It doesn't bother me as much though because what matters more to me is that a file is placed within the 1-20 scale properly. All I care about is which files are considered for the high end of 1-20, such as A Quick Death being the high end of 18 and so on. I would've preferred the old system names to be used, there isn't anything wrong with using the same difficulty name over a range of more than one difficulty number to make things make more sense and allow the discussions over the past 9 years to be comparable. Some of the old names are still used in the 1-20 system, but I feel that the names are an unnecessary addition that will cause confusion. I myself will still certainly think of files as FMO, FGO, etc. Who would you say surprised you the most this year as far as "skill boost" goes Jerry DB certainly has surprised me with how much he's improved. Of course, you have yo man im awesome and several others who have shown surprising increase in skill this year. What feature would you like to see added/changed, and why? (let the community speak, and im sure it will make FFR better :] ) - Fix the combo scoring system. Add a 'best raw score' field, or change scoring to something like (1550*Perfects)+(1275*Goods)+(1055*Averages)-(310*Miss)-(20*Boos). - Fix Otaku Speedvibe [Oni] - A "save score" feature to eliminate a lot of unrecorded scores. An unrecorded score but having the replay of the run is absolutely aggravating and certainly unfair in the case of an official tournament. - While not really being a physical feature, frame inspection before releasing files. - WIDGETS. Why were these removed again? - Others I can't think off the top of my head. |

Re: meet your makers. (d6 destroyers)
How do you feel about the recent difficulty change?
I feel that the difficulty change would be a nice idea since 1-13 isn't really precise enough for most people. Though, the 1-99 scale is all about subjectivity at that point. I mean, people might see A Quick Death as 89 for example, but I would see it as 88. The 1-20 scale however, is a pretty good idea since it's more precise than 1-13, and it isn't as subjective as 1-99. The only thing that bothers me about the 1-20 difficulty scale is the naming. I feel that the names aren't really necessary, and most of us would still be using the old names like For Gurus Only or For Masters Only. Who would you say surprised you the most this year as far as "skill boost" goes? Too many to decide. Zyphoror definitely surprised me with his improvement rate (Mid-low D6 to high D6 in 2 months?!?), Jerry DB surprised me with his skill boosting as well (rip 1x screencut fo life!), yo man and a lot of other people actually. What feature would you like to see added/changed, and why? - A raw scoring highscore list (I wouldn't mind if this doesn't affect your average rank) Combo scoring is kind of flawed, and most players would be just mashing for an FC to be high on the high scores. Even a simple missflag can be much worse than a heavily mashed FC, so I feel that raw scoring would be more accurate in terms of showing actual skill. There's probably a lot more, but that is the main thing I could think of. |

Re: meet your makers. (d6 destroyers)
Recent difficulty change:
I actually thoroughly enjoy the new 1-99 system. I probably like it more than I will a 1-20 scale, just because now I can scroll through ascending difficulties and know exactly what is harder than other songs near it, and set goals for myself easier. I just like the preciseness of it. Who has skillboosted? Havent been as in touch with the gaming side of the site for a couple months so I cant really say right now. Yo man kinda pisses me off just because I was matching a lot of his scores during the last official and now hes way beyond my reach xP. Hopefully Ill be someone people see as a booster soon. What features would I like added? -F**king ditch combo scoring already... My record on little god channel is still a mashed fc from like 3 years ago and I cant even see it replaced with a respectable 40~ goods 1 miss run I get... Just stupid. -I actually like the "Amazing" accuracy thing in R^2. Anyway we can get it in the regular velocity engine? Only thing is make it the same color as perfect so it doesnt distract as much as it does now. -Increase the number of files released weekly I mean, there is obviously no shortage of files, batches fill up in like 2 days. Why just do 5 files per week? -I think it would be neat/nice if we released files with priority given to new stepartists. I think it's encouraging for us to see our creation and see the response, so that we can know better for our next files, instead of having to wait 2-3 months for it to come out. (I say this because my first file is in queue, and I really want to see public response, and havent even started another keyboard chart because I want that response first.)
