/coming from someone who would be in top 250 on either category.

I think the idea of designing a shirt is better than a printed name shirt. I have my old rank FFR shirt, and while it's cool to say "I was rank 230, look I'm right here!" people just look at it and go meh. But if you design some kind of epic shirt that grabs people's attention, it's more fun to wear.

I vote darkshark/whoever wants to try comes up with some designs, and we post them here and vote or something.

I can throw one out to start, but I will say now that it is not mine. It was suggested a while back as an FFR t-shirt, but I do not recall by who.

I'd personally go for just standard shirts, so more can be purchased and I can actually wear one in public!

Voting regular shirt because the only people who would buy top overall rank/avrank shirts would be the people on it. (See what happened with the Top 1K shirts a few years ago.)

Still, the top players would be the ones who would be interested enough in the game to want to buy a "generic" shirt anyway, so everybody wins.

(Sample idea from my own experience: "Brain of the Moon. 4 minutes. 2135 arrows. 4 fingers. Bring it." <ffr>)

I wont buy it if my name isn't on it. Lets put it that way =P

I'd prefer average rank just because mine is much better than overall.

Neither.

Why would we even suggest supporting elitism? That's what we need to get RID OF, not take in and greet happily.

Elitism is good to an extent, because it makes people try harder to be better. One of the reasons I play this game is to be one of the best.

I think average rank would be really cool, considering Ive never bought a shirt online but I would but at least one of these, if not 2.

Quite honestly darkshark, you should probably take who wants a shirt first, then have THOSE people vote on it or decide. Because if only the elite want a shirt, they're going to vote on rank. But if only the elite buy and everyone voted, they might not really be getting what they wanted. Either way I still think non-rank is good.

This poll is giving me all the information I need. I know my last batch of shirts (Top 1000 overall 2008-2009) weren't official or anything, but I still sold several hundred of them. Since this would be a more formal and official release, I'd like to try and cater to everyone who enjoys the site. Not to mention designing a shirt around 1,000 names is hard as ****.

I'll throw out some designs soon.

And justin, that design won't work. Can't have gradient colors. 3 colors max for a silkscreened shirt.

In terms of marketing -- the average rank/community shirts will rake in more buyers because those who have their names on it know that average rank has more meaning than overall rank, and will want the shirt because of that. Let's not also forget that a fair majority of the players that are active are more than likely going to have their name somewhere on that shirt, so it somewhat acts as a personalized shirt.

I think people should keep in mind that 1000 players is a lot of names. Anyone who cares at all about the game could probably manage to get on that list.

Which would be the only reason i could support overall rank instead of average.

normal FFR shirt would be cool. having a top player list seems too cluttery.

I posted in this thread on the last page. I said that you could hold a contest in which people would design a shirt and lets say the top 3 to 5 people that win get prizes and their design's will go on a shirt.

Hold a contest, let the community help out ya know? That way, there's something in it for everyone. Top 1000 avg rank shirts/FFR Designs/Pro Chat Designs/FFR Game Designs whatever it may be. That way there is a variety of things to choose from rather than just 1 basic FFR T-Shirt. That way it would:

1.) Bring in more money guaranteed.
2.) Stir up Morale in the gaming community
3.) People would be walking advertisements for the website.
4.) Plus, some of the money can be donated to the website, ya know?

They tried having a contest for people to design skins for blackwebb and that died incredibly fast. Chances are the same would happen. Plus out of anybody on the site I think most would agree that DS is probably the best to come up with some awesome design ideas.

@ 1.) unfortunately not: making multiple designs rather than sending in one (or two) large batches of shirts more than likely means that DS is going to pay more per shirt. Bulk is always the way to go in situations like this. That's probably the reason why DS didn't give a huge set of options, because he's going to order a huge batch of them, rather than several smaller ones.

Not necessarily. I remember a few years back, the website that my high school orchestra used didn't have any bulk deals. I only remember because my teacher was kind of upset about it, but in the end it didn't even matter because the shirts were $8 a piece. Obviously it depends on the website but bulk deals aren't always the case.

EDIT: Also, granted, this was 3.5 years ago and I think the price went up to $10 since. Just have to find the right website to order them from.

Why don't we just keep this simple and go with 1 design for this batch just to see how it goes. Then maybe for the future there could a contest/thread for people to submit their shirts designs.

Making a contest would just delay the process, and people will end up forgetting about it.
