XOON 4 BLUE VERSION

Eruption- i remember a whole bunch of stink about this file back in the day because of color notes, but it's still pretty fun. a heads up though, it's not as technically accurate as it'll get; you forgot to layer the hihats
Death Moon- you're literally awful for stepping this but nonetheless it's decent. song ****ing kills it though.
Blind Justice- lmao sup Kil. This file's great, not much else needs to be said.
Anti The Holic-
Piano x Forte x Scandal- wonderfully stepped file. accurate and fun to play
Love Hina Opening- lmao kommi you scamp.
Like a Man- This is actually really fun for what it is, but i still prefer pat's file (even though it came out later)
Vidohunir- wow way to pick the worst song from Ar Tonlico. anyway this file's alright but it's nothing to write home about.
Accept The Fact- i really loathe how you do the fade in/fade out shit with your songs, but w/e. It's a decent file but feels like forever because it's just a fucen guitar solo
Necrofantasia- your layering's kinda inconsistent and also touhou
Phantom Ensemble- look i'm not usually a PR hound if your PR is so bad i can tell there's a problem with it while ****ing playing you need to rethink your file
Mad Keyboard Zone-
♪┏(・o・)┛♪┗ ( ・o・) ┓♪┏ ( ) ┛♪┗ (・o・ ) ┓♪┏(・o・)┛♪
Ethno Circus- these swing notes are so awkward my 12 year old sister won't shut the hell up about them on facebook
Flat Zone- this is actually pretty fun
Go Beyond!! Jazzy- lmao this was in an HSMP so i'm going to skip over it
To Make The END OF BATTLE- hey y'know this is stepmania, not paint on a wall. you don't have to have like 12 layers.
Ubertreffen- roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar roar
China Junk- this file was literally only put in the pack because you made graphics for the pack. owned. 0/10
~Love Shine~- i have on $230 headphones and am listening to DDR music. what a life.
also this file's ****ing boring.
Attention Grabber- Arguably one of your better files.
Fire Fire- despite 64ths i can't hate this file
Heart Of Witch-
Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr- nice file, guitar hero
Robotica- weird hold usage but i really love this file
MEIKAI-

Acid Vision- incredibly fun, great song.
Moon Child- the layering in this is weird. i can't really enjoy this
Nothing Beats- couldn't take this file seriously because i was imagining mashing it up with a Chris Brown song and could not stop laughing
Rottel-Da-STAR- wow dude give all those quads back to the college campuses you stole them from
Tewi Within- touhou
Tsugihagi Construction- god dammit this file is fuBWUH BWUH BWUH BWUH BWUHBWUHBWUH BWUH BWUH BWBWUH
Son Of Sun- definitely not what I'd expect from bufang of all people, but actually cool, aside from that goddamn 32nd part
The FCC Song-
Darhan Hall- this file's about as fun as ya dad's dick
Occult Castle Battle- fun file, cetaka
Open The World-

Spaceport Alpha-

Ristaccia- lmao this song. this seriously plays like a bad roar file. a bad. roar file.
The Creature Sealed Off!- i don't think i've ever seen anyone this dedicated to 16th notes being on the quarter beat dude. u gonna marry those yellow notes, bro?
Vox Up- go back to drinking with your chilean buddies and jerking off to jeff mangum or w/e it is you do tc
Amarillys- TC aside this is p cool (pat's v2 is best though)
101 Kittens- let's cut it down to like 2 kittens and maybe then this will be playable.
Gouin ni mai Yeah!!- anime is a dump
Champion Freeverse- i've always loved this file. ^5 wc
River Flows In You- ambien.sm
Shuriken Cut- A+ 10/10 5/5 Best New File
Poquito Mas- i REALLY wish you'd step more, wnb
But I Love U-
Brimming White-
~Stepmania Finale~- still think it would've been hilarious for you to make every note red, but a grate file nonetheless

XOON 4 RED VERSION COMING SOON

Default Re: itt we do new reviews of old packs

(BMR) A - This cut of the original version is lacking the ultra classic 16 bars stepped to percussion and/or imaginary stuff. Easily worth grabbing the full one somewhere else. 4/10

(Arch0wl) Absolute (Rock Guitar) - Fun, especially in the 24th note sections. I think the BPM might be a little off, though? idr 7/10

(Cynic) Abstract - Cool for the most part, but the minijacks are brutally not-fun. I mean, I guess you can't expect someone to predict which types of injected difficulty spikes will remain playable for people 8-9 years later who all play the game in a completely different way from back then... or can you? 5/10

(Ren) Act - Kinda like High, but not as cool. 5/10

(Radical Julian) Arrabbiata - I got his name right, right? IIRC he made dope graphics for everybody, and then a couple of his own super dope files came outta nowhere. Obviously very different from modern layering techniques, but his way of consistently placing certain patterns with certain parts of the music was pretty unique and pretty awesome. 8/10

(aperson) Brace Yourself - This file was all the rage while I was still playing toddlermania. So I'd talk about how I liked dukamok's and malice's charts better or something, but this classic transcends all my inane babbling. 6.4/10 or something

(Skorpion9x) Carezza - Skor's, right? I was thinking kil's at first, haha. This song has been restepped to high hell, but this is still a nifty little file with chill piano and chill 16th stream to go with it. 6/10

(Arch0wl) Classic 8 (Time Lines) - Should've released the super BS chart he said he had in the works for this file. This chart is cool, though. 5/10

(Skorpion9x) Csikos Post - Pretty sick. Love the way that the sets of 8th jumps sort of mirror each other; I mean, I know that is/was pretty common practice, but it just works really nicely here. Kilga restepped this (really really well), and there's this one part where Kilga dropped some notes Skor had and I was like whoa skor's was wrong, but technically there's some other stuff going on other than the strings that you could claim the notes sort of flow into. Yeah. 8/10

(Ren) Cynic - If Cynic had stepped this, it would've been the #1 name combo forever. The 8th jacks are ultra classic. Some of the rest of the chart is kind of iffy. Still, it holds a place in my heart for being prolly the toughest chart in KBMP. 6/10

(Mwerp) Dogura - Had to watch a youtube video of this, because I could only remember some of it rofl. A restep should have been included in KBMP1.5 ;_;
Very nice chart. I actually feel like the inaccuracies make the chart more interesting to play. This chart is one of the easiest in KBMP, which (to me) makes it one of the most memorable ones. The background is incredible, whoa! 8/10

(Skorpion9x) Dokudenpa - Probably my favorite Sharpnel file ever. Resteps of this were quite good, but to me, the magic in this chart is irreplaceable. 10/10

(Arch0wl) Drum Machine - how many simfiles were made using this type of minimalistic song back then? hell, how many files ever? well done. 8/10

(Taren) DXY! - I didn't like IVKAS stuff back in the day but it was a pretty good prelude to modern layering. this one, though... is kind of an imposter. fairly accurate but like 0% layering and only 25% pattern repetition. 5/10

(Cynic) Era (Step Remix) - hehe just noticed KBMP1.5 credited Taren for this chart. 99% sure that ain't right. hella bs stream everywhere <3 but the buildup during the slowdown is no joke. essential. 7/10

(Cynic) Felys (Long Version) - I remember loving this chart at the time but later finding its mysterious arrow methodology to be so incomprehensible I could barely play it.
/10

(Cynic) Fire - I had lots of h8 for this chart back in the day because my arrow keys wouldn't register before the holds&taps sections. probably better than I remember but I still can't shake the feeling it's a step down from most other kbmp files. 3/10

(Fooby) Fuego (Caliente Mix) - I even thought this was understepped at the time. like, early 2004 or whenever the hell. still fun though. great song choice. 5/10

(BMR) G2 - fun chart to a IIDX song that makes sense in certain parts and is completely rando in others. aka, a BMR file. never got as popular as A or V but was in the same league really. 6/10

(Arch0wl) Geno's Woods - chill song, chill chart. smrpg is da bomb. imo the kbmp files most worth coming back to are the easiest ones. 8/10

(BMR) Gravity - lolbpmchanges. I'm being completely unfair by evaluating it vs resteps, but I would never play this over Toph's really. 5/10

(Fooby) Guillaume Tell - oh whoops I was thinking Skor's chart was in here. standard but cool. 6/10

(Reach) Halloween (Speedy Mix) - aqua. 0/1

(Ren) High - super amazing forever. phantom 8th jumps and whatnot that I wouldn't in any song/notechart combo except this one. 9/10

(?) Holic - actually used some neat techniques I didn't get at all back then, but ehhhhhh 4/10

(Cynic) Hyper Boundary Gate - I still play this. jack sections are way 2 fun. 8/10

(Kilgamayan) It's a Small World (Ducking Hardcore Mix) - best song. chart is all over da place. definitely fun but not my type of bs chart. 5/10

(Skorpion9x) Jack - jax. has minijack chains in some of the jumpstream, but unlike other KBMP charts with the same issue, the speed here is slow enough for it to not matter. pretty great really. 8/10

(Skorpion9x) K8107 - jax. mega classic. 7/10

(Cynic & Ren) Karma - would rather have their two separate charts really. 5/10

(Skorpion9x) Karma - Emerald Sword is the only Skor power metal file U need. 3/10

(Arch0wl) Kick Your A - why are all these A songs cut? the ending to the full song is vital. nice easy chart though. 5/10

(Cynic) Lab - hell yeah. gotta play this one index so the crossovers actually mean something. this one aged much better than most other Cynic charts imo. 9/10

(aperson) Leading Cyber - nahhh 4/10

(Ensyther) M - fake Taka song right? haha whatever. straightforward 8th jump / 16th stream file. clasico. 7/10

(cmcm) Manhattan Sports Club - classic as FUC. held up well. I once played this on pad and failed miserably. 9/10

(Arch0wl) Max 300 (IIDX Version) - the first half is very IVKAS and the second half is very not. fun though. 6/10

(Konami peeps) Max 300 uhh pretty damn good for a DDR chart honestly. 6/10

(Konami ppl) MaxX Unlimited - itty bitty minijacks and hold sections were REBOLUCIONARY 7/10

(Cynic) Mind Parasite - wow the ending is such trash hahahaha. 1/10

(Kilgamayan) Never Gonna Come Back Down - precursor to latter-day jumpstream! sick song. 7/10

(Arch0wl) Oi Punk - there's just something about this simfile. song is ridiculous. what the hell, pop'n music? just played this and got 94mill hahah. impervious to becoming easier as you get better at SM somehow. only logical rating = 9/10

(Arch0wl) One Winged Angel - whoa, Arch did polyrhythms before I could even pretend to fathom such a thing. ¡excelente! 9/10

(Skorpion9x) Otaku Speedvibe - neato combination of DDR and keyboard stepping elements. difficulty spike at the very end makes it a horrible, horrible chart to play for scoring. 6/10

(Skorpion9x) P8107 - really good. 9/10

(Arch0wl) PARANOiA (Bounce Connected Mix) - horribly monotonous. 2/10

(Konami bros) PARANOiA Survivor MAX - I passed this once on pad ever. still scares me/10

(Arch0wl) PARANOiA -Respect- - kinda like Oi Punk difficulty-wise, but it has one hard part instead of two and it's lame instead of fun. 3/10

(Ren) Petrification - I'm still a sucker for most of Ren's bs, but this one doesn't do the trick. 4/10

(ddrmaniak or something) Pump Me Up Amadeus - woeful. even the name of the song is wrong. 2/10

(Mwerp) Prophetess - sick song. bonus points for being one of the most playable charts out of kbmp's most difficult offerings. 8/10

(Eggman) Quasar - the birth of cookie-cutter 16th stream??? it's an established classic but I'm a rebel. 3/10 WHAT NOW

(Cynic) R8U - maybe my favorite "create your own rhythms" chart ever? 9/10

(Ren) Reincarnation[a] - lol at how Ren thought she was being fan-c with the grace notes and then added one in the piano section where it didn't belong. cool chart. 7/10

(Cynic) Release Your Mind - kinda like Mind Parasite, only way more acceptable. bonus points for making a neat chart out of a song that should never have been stepped. 7/10

(Ren) Ride on the Light - the entire thing is 8th stream with jumps and a bogus mystery note between pairs of jumps. it just so happens to be fun as hell. 7/10

(aperson) Run the Place Red - iirc the kbmp1.5 version screwed up this chart. if you only keep five files from kbmp1, make RTPR one of them. 9/10

(Jello) S.O.S. - incredibly unfair again but just get Toph's if anything. 4/10

(individuals working for Konami) Sakura - wait was this really in kbmp? heavy is harder than oni, so -1/10

(Kilgamayan) Sakuranbo Kiss (from Colourful Kiss) - anime stuff not really my thing, but Kilga made it work, big time. 9/10

(Mwerp) Samurai Zero - simple, clean, effective. 8/10

(Jello) Senorita (Speedy Mix) - I'm sure some people would like this, but it's really not for me. 4/10

(Kilgamayan) Slam - not many charts out there quite like this one, I don't think. well done. 7/10

(Cynic) Snow - enjoyable nonsense. 6/10

(Toph) Somebody Like You - blargh. one of my least favorite Toph files. 4/10

(Eggman) Spooky - very interesting. there's some strict layering as well as some "I'm stepping this! - no, that! - wait, this!" kind of everything at once. the chart is really different and rather enjoyable. the speedup on the last note is just a middle finger to anyone with a good score going haha. 7/10

(Cynic) Star Field - out of this whole pack, I think this chart shows its age the most. that's not a bad thing, really. here's a pretty nice song that would have made for a seriously lame simfile based on typical note-to-sound principles, and instead we get a totally playable chart. more than anything I think it's a testament to the idea that different music lends itself to different stepping styles. 6/10

(Cynic) Summer Vacation (Bounce Connected Style) - sooooo laem compared 2 my restep for 1.5, pshh. just kidding. this one actually has a lot more in common with my chart than I had thought. some 24th stuff would make it more fun though. would be 6/10 but the minijack syndrome is outta control. 5/10

(Arch0wl) Super Mario Bros. (Dirty Mix) - kind of a super early attempt at stepping breakcore-type patterns, huh? it was fantastic back then, but it's not anymore. 4/10

(Arch0wl) Sync - get Toph's if you want a Sync simfile. don'tcare/whatever

(Mwerp) Tension - nonsense, and not in a good way. has there been a good restep of this? I'd like to play it. 4/10

(Skorpion9x) The 24th D - minijacks and 32nd trillz. cool song. 6/10

(Bronami) The Legend of MAX - mildly enjoyable nonsense. 4/10

(aperson) The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing - what's this? musical diversity in kbmp? I refuse 2 believe it. chart is very nice. 8/10

(Mwerp) Tougen 0 - idr if it's accurate or anything, but it's fun. 7/10

(BMR) V - what can I say here? it's a pretty rough translation of the IIDX chart. everyone has played it. most people find it fun, as do I. if you're stranded on a deserted hard drive and can only keep 10 simfiles, this one ought to make the cut. 8/10

(cmcm) V (Heavy Beat Remix) - a nice trilling exercise. I think more keyboard charts could use really calm, easy sections like this one has. dynamics in difficulty, if you will. 6/10

(Mwerp) Vanish into Thin Air - the difficulty spike close to the beginning is pretty awkward. good fun otherwise. 6/10

(Radical Julian) Vook - solid, but very dated and has since been restepped to perfection pretty much. 5/10

(Mwerp) Votum Stellarum - the simfile from KBMP is unplayable, because the last third or so was shifted an 8th note forward somehow. the chart itself is pretty great. I think a newer and more technical approach would fit the song much better. (thank you KBMP1.5!) notechart = 8/10, KBMP version = 0/10

(Kilgamayan) Waka Laka - a little rando at times, but nice overall. the song is unbelievably silly. 7/10

(Arch0wl) War Game - some nonsense notes here and there, which is weird considering how slow and straightforward the music is. still pretty badass. 7/10

(Arch0wl) Will O' the Wisp - this chart used to be oni. I liked the heavy chart best song doesn't really lend itself to being stepped semi-accurately like this. needs more bs. 4/10

(Cynic) Y31 - weak. simple 8th patterns with jumps would work just fine, but the notechart doesn't correspond to the music at all, and that just doesn't work here. 2/10

I heard "old packs" and I had to instant transmission here. kbmp is easily the most important old old stepmania relic, in my most humblin'est opinion. if you don't have at least 10ish of these files your simfile library is a failure.

o ya. disclaimer: reviews are opinions. my opinions mean no more than anyone else's. hopefully they're fun to read though

Real nice. Maybe I'll do 1.5 since that's a super clean/obvious transition point to the sorts of files that influenced me most :v

Default Re: itt we do new reviews of old packs

(Bursurk_Lurk) Blurks OP 2 - farts
(Bursurk_Lurk) Pyramid - boring
(cetaka) Never Say - cetaka would probably renounce this file now but it's Flawless and the song is nifty
(dondon151) Break the Sword of Justice v2 - functional as a scoring file but no fun at all, overfreezed and not very creative or anything redeeming c:
(dondon151) Fighting - i forget
(dondon151) id - i wanna restep this cuz the song's dope and the file doesn't seem very expressive (see: for seasons)
(dondon151) Tank! - one of my fave dondon files, actually pretty solid and i like the song
(GLoVE) Endless Sacrifice - glove was at a peak for this pack. took all the concepts he'd been developing as his signatures from smg2 and odi1 and polished them into a few near-perfect files. they might not have the original ~ingenuity~ or annoying whorability (caused by sloppy difficulty spikes) of under a glass moon and universal mind, but in my mind this is one of his best works. and i don't even like dream theater
(GLoVE) Metropolis Pt. 1 - see above
(GLoVE) In the Presence of Enemies Pt. 2 - see above
(John11) Party in the Shop - fluff file
(JX) Colored - really neat simfile with, you guessed it, color; swingy and fun and has a trill yo
(Kil) Lakeside - top tier quad bait. an argument for 1m copypasta files
(Kn33groW) Cold Heart - god some patterns are so annoying. in general though the 16th jacks + 24th bursts are pretty fun. song's poopy
(Kn33groW) Healing Vision [Angelic Mix] - one of the better uses of mines out there, wasted on a pretty boring file/song
(Kommisar) The Dirty of Loudness - i forget :v
(linus) F - closest linus came (before I'm So Drunk) to a clean, accessible file
(malice) Reflection into the EDEN - really terrible imo. song never elevates its bombast levels past 'hella chill' and the steps do the exact opposite. probably didn't need to be stepped by anyone, LEAST of all Malice rofl. dude knows how to put One Random Arrow To Every Sound but it just don't work here
(malice) Soliton Beam - boring
(Necros) Azul - top 20 all time simfile (both oni and beginner)
(Necros) Love Generation - this one's more typical of necros. proficient to be sure but seriously lackluster. fine as the pack's eurobeat quadbait file i suppose
(PatashuvsGLoVE) The Dark Eternal Night - both charts are very, very good but GLoVE's is inevitably stronger imo, and including Patashu's really emphasizes it's strengths: the solo and miscellaneous 32nd js are a dozen times cleaner, and the left jacks in the beginning create Perfect Tension. it is cool, however, to see where the two chose to step the song almost identically (such as in the 24th run with left hand trills).
(Stargroup) Planet Karma - ahhhh this divisive beast. essentially a running joke now, at the time it really was a feat of detail-obsessed stepping. it's dubious whether stargroup deserves all (or even most) of the credit, with I believe JX and yesssss doing most of the syncing legwork in the solos. but it's still a truly epic file~
(Stargroup) Castaway - meanwhile, in other stargroup contributions......................
(t0ra) Foreplay - t0ra's style is pretty inimitable and this file is really good
(t0ra) Gentle Stress - mines? i don't remember
(t0ra) Primitivism - i've only played edit and it's a swell annoying chunk of scoring file. some cool parts but mostly it screams of 'player who's not that good trying to make a really hard file' and it suffers in awkwardness for it. perhaps oni is better off.
(tsuka) Dream to Nightmare - waste of a song, thanks for the restep cetaka rofl
(Velious) Caring Dance - a bit fluffy and basic but no severe complaints
(Velious) Nightmare - while not the most elegantly patterned file, the structuring makes it a success. it creates a perfect balanced difficulty for intermediate players to full combo then AAA, and expert players to AAA then SDP then quad. also nicely conducive to rates. the progression of difficulty in little, clear-defined movements (8th jumps -> short bursts -> long freezes -> long js -> short bursts) is terrific. probably entirely accidental but this file's sticking around for a long ass time regardless lol
(Yesssss) Exospacial Psionic Aura - i would have stepped this rather differently but that's moot because the file's really good anyway. a perfect stepmania song with complex, varying and yet not-unintuitive rhythms
(Yesssss) Parasomnia - ?.?
(Yesssss) Perdition Crisis - great little file, it's a perfect update on Casket of Star. smoother, more intuitive patterns with minijacks and very clever hyper-speedups which express the song Wonderfully
(YesssssvsGLoVE) Biosphere - nicely put together and the song's pretty good, but it suffers from simply being overlong and stepped in too straightforward of a fashion (layering 101)
(Z3ratul) Crystal Ann v2 - lol my friend and i used to have rate wars on this back in the day. randomly patterned sort of file but the basic rhythms make it engaging enough to score on
(GLoVE) A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation - brilliantly stuffs all those jacks right into the beginning so you roughly know how you're going to score within 45 seconds (think almost there edit. very effective technique) and then you just gotta worry about HOLY SHIT I BETTER NOT FUC THE REST OF THIS UP. hats off
(cetaka) Aztec Templing - probably the weakest cetaka file of all time. awkward and unfun, if perfectly orchestrated to not let you AA no matter what
(Patashu) Bargain - patashu's occasional files like this (see also: bumpy genital) are my favorites. you can tell how fucen clean his patterns are when you up the music rate a couple of points and they still flow smooth as silk. perfect simfile.
(cetaka) Carpet Muncher - self-proclaimed first good use of mines lmao. file's inventive and fun. nicely constructed as a lower-level FC/AAA chart and has some of cetaka's best burst patterns. sole complaint is slight awkwardness in the longfreeze + 16th patterns

Red Fraction Pack

finished!

(Breekan) And Then We Kiss - not bad, mostly generic. about as good as a file for this song would have been and it's decent quadbait I suppose
(JS) Atmos Break - sweet sweet fun even though it doesn't always make perfect sense and some parts are a real pain to MA
(DJ_Ossa) Belladonna - despite the slight difficulty bursts with the jacks this file is a classic and one of my favorite Ossa files
(Torrent) BF2014 - okay, I actually really love this file. what can you say? it's a total octane rush even now. and to be fair there are actually quite a few patterns I like in this.
(Rebirth) Border Of Maximum - actually a lot better than I was expecting though some jacks were overly hard given the song and other sections were a bit underlayered
(Kn33grow) Brain Storm - the minimalist attitude here is accurate but it just..grates for some reason. maybe it's because the song feels so rich. anyhow not a bad file but not over the moon about it
(Torrent) Comfort Betrays - see the other Torrent file. this file's a bit more accurate though
(malice) Demon's Carnival - a tad too simple for me. buildup's quite good however. I always like malice's busier files more (see: Going My Subway)
(t0ra) Dick Jazz - haunts scoreboards even to this day
(Tsuka) Enigma - short but flawlessly stepped. speedup is incredible to hit
(dondon151) envelope - one of my favorite dondon files. chill yet engaging
(Dew) Faith Is For The Transient People - parts of this I actually enjoyed a lot, other parts are just....ucky (the 32nd bursts, the right-hand bias on some of the patterns).
(Exige) Flowtation - love this file even though it was taken straight from 2006
(Rebirth) Gekkou - there are things about this that immediately stick out as a bit egregrious and that I would have done differently, but the dynamics sell me on it completely. no shame here
(Malice) Go Beyond - very well-done for what it is and some really neat stuff in here, but suffers a bit from having to be directly compared with Patashu's all-out approach. as is it's still a very good scoring file and I personally thing it's one of Malice's best files
(dondon151) Hunter's Etude - quite good
(Rebirth) Hyper Exige - mostly the song's fault if anything; the entire middle section just plods without anything to latch onto. end gets semi-interesting with the few quick solos, but otherwise kinda a sedentary file
(Velious) Inscrutable Battle - weird file. should be snoozy because of how easy it is, but the groove of the rhythms makes it a lot more interesting. end is super cool too, only complaint is the random overlayered parts/jacks (you barely have any jumps in the file so why are there five of them coming up all of a sudden)
(stargroup) Jungle - really cool vibe but broken by some egregriously awkward parts (almost every single 32nd burst, the random grace note thing near the end that is basically a quad but impossible to quad hahahahaaaa)
(Kommisar) Kamaitachi - still pretty fun though slightly choppy. who 'da thunk this guy would go on to revolutionize the game for the next five years?
(Tsuka) Kaze No Shi - not my cup of tea. kinda unengaging (though the beginning was p. interesting) and patterns could be a lot better. I feel like this file would have played better then than now
(Exige) kicks! - this file has aged quite well, like most Exige files (!!)
(dondon151) Maid's Pocket Watch Of Blood - good scoring file, replayed this quite a bit. nothing to say really it's good and it still holds up
(MacG) Mellann - I feel like of mac's x-mod files, this one holds up the best. the gimmicks fit the song very well, and the steps are fun for both index and spread. some really innovative stuff in here and it has a lot of replay value
(kn33grow) Memories - I like this a bit more than the other Kn33 file in this pack. a bit overintense but rhythms are very well expressed and file flows well
(Rebirth) Nanairopanda - paint vomit! struggles a bit with the expression-y phrases in the song because of the way Rebirth layers normally, but still a boatload of fun and one of his best files imo. he really hit a peak with this pack
(GLoVE) Not Again - if you wanna know where NTM and Baq got all those neat ideas for guitar files...little piece of stepmania history right here. a bit more mellow than GLoVe's other files but not to be messed with--it's definitely an important file, but I have others that I personally enjoy more :P
(jimerax) Piano Forte - certainly well-known and very popular, but that certainly doesn't mean it's great..has scoring value but I really don't feel like this captures the song very well.
(Necros) Poodle - one of the quintessential Necros style files: simple with some unexpected twists. the way he spun gold out of songs like this had quite an influence on steppers like myself, Gundam, Kommi, and pretty much every other dude who started making files from 2008-2011.
(Dew) Red Lucifer Rising - I've played this a grand total of twice. both times for scoring. it's servicable, some very hard parts, nice song, but ultimately the length kinda kills it.
(dondon151) Rescue! - one of my favorite dondon151 files, probably one of the best in this pack, and one of my favorites. captures the song incredibly well--none of the bursts/jacks ever feel gratuitous and the tension level is always perfect. how to make epic files 101.
(Yesssss) Rock 'N Rocks - neat file but feels a bit too overwhelming at times. mines are probably why
(dondon151) Scarlet In The Dream - polyrhythms
(Necros) Second Heaven - the way this file is layered should make it feel outdated, and yet it doesn't feel that way at all. has aged quite well.
(Rebirth) Setsujou! - damn it stop putting random dumpjacks in your files when I'm enjoying them Rebirth. otherwise, one of his best files
(Necros+leadafro) Tribe Attacker - really...choppy file. does not fit together very well.
(Malice) UNON - never really enjoyed this file sorry

3/4 of the second half of Xoon 2:

(Mr Bob) Marmalade Reverie - Lot of missing notes, some faulty PR in places, and an inconsistent use of mini-freezes. Otherwise not terrible. 3.5/10

(scylaxx) Mei - The inconsistent layering is cool in some parts for obvious climax theory, but others it's just a blatant mistake. That being said, it's definitely one of the stronger files of this pack. BG changes are a nice touch. 7/10

(ddrace) Mendes - Oh yeah. NOW I remember why I restepped this. This file was littered with errors in every place imaginable. Sorry bro. Your cool beard won't save you this time. 2.5/10

(roar) Midnight - Starwolf vs Roar. I remember this battle. The underlayered errorfest vs the overlayered errorfest. IMO both files are pretty bad. This one at least has the redeeming quality that over 50% of the notes are justified for being there. The climax theory in the beginning is nice though.
3/10

(rshadow vs buizel) Mithos Yggdrassil, Final Destination - Gah. I missed so many notes in this file. I've gotta do a V2 at some point and nail those climaxes down. 4.5/10

(trumaestro) My Happy Overheat - God, Noon's backgrounds are already making my head hurt today. NONE OF THEM HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SONG.
File goes back and forth between being kinda cool and being a note shitfest with absolutely no warning. I disapprove. 4.5/10

(synexi) of course you need and need cheese - Definitely your best file in this pack. Well done, patterns are clean to hit, climax theory used well. 7.5/10

(trumaestro) over the rave F.O.R. Remix - The jacks in the middle of this file make me ragequit evertime. They have no business being there, since the sound they go to is damn near inaudible. 4/10, but only because the rest of the file is pretty good.

(kommisar) Owni - I like the beginning with the jacks, but the file just gets too damn repetitive after that. Tis mostly the song's fault though. *shrugs* 5.5/10

(kommisar) Perfect Blue - Ah this is the kommisar we know and love. File is technically correct I guess, but is extremely generic and repetitive. 4.5/10

(torrent) Play this in audiosurf - I actually remember playing this file way back when. The color note walls did not need to be there then, and they don't need to be there now. Totally ruin what is other than that a pretty alright file. 3.5/10

(yotipo) Popo Runaway - Ah yeah I remember now. Noon released this pack before we could get the bugs out. Such as this file.
File itself isn't bad. Couple PR issues and some bad note placement in some, but can't generally complain. Really wish we got that 3430300300bpm thing out of there though. 4.5/10

(torrent) Promised Land - Couple of missed notes here and there, but really not bad. A bit bland, but not bad. 5/10

(cyrenics) Pure Ruby - I remember liking this file way back when. Oh how things have changed.
Biggest problem with this is the blatent underlayering. It's so easy to turn this into a normal layered file; one that isn't stepping every concievable sound but is also getting the entirity of the melody as well as a good portion of the background. Also some PR issues. 3.5/10

(Mr bob) Real - Straightfoward and clean. A bit repetitive, but once again, tis the nature of the song. 5.5/10

(trance core) Shangai Alice of Meiji 17 - If it wasn't for the underlayering in parts as well as those mini trills, I would really like this file. It's a shame we didn't work more on this back then. 5/10

(trumaestro) Ska de Chocobo - Beginning is repetitive to the point of eye-gouging, but after that it gets alright. This file makes me appreciate Revolver's Rap de Chocobo in the VGMPP a hell of a lot more. 4/10

(trance core) Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom - Nuclear Fusion - Except for a couple PR issues, this was actually a pretty good file. Kudos. 6/10

(Noon) Sora iro days 8-bit - Been waiting for this one. The only file in the pack we all flat out rejected. *cracks fingers*
First off, the jump usage is totally inconsistent. Then we have hold lengths being too long, a blatent disregard for PR in parts, and a couple unneeded notes in the bursts.
Also this is quitting out halfway through.
1.5/10

(buizel) The Air that I Breathe - God I spent forever on that color guitar solo.
Everyone needs their overlayered technical dump. This was mine. Technically correct. Cool to play? Probably not. 4/10

(XOX) The Illusionist - Biggest 2 problems with this are a disregard for PR, and inconsistent layering. Had some decent potential, but said potential wasn't met. 4/10

(NTM) Sound of Truth - I should step this next. Seems that everyone else has a file for this.
This was actually one of his better-done files in this pack. I do like his cuts of most of these songs as well. 6/10

(Synexi) Strong Jaegar - Those 24th jumps are a bit of a pain in the ass to hit, but nice file. Shows me what I did wrong with my pad file haha. 6.5/10

I'll finish the last 6 files tonight maybe. Gotta get going to work.
