Also, don't take this the wrong way, but the idea of who is most qualified varies between peoples. Niala is a perfectly fine judge. Rogdor I have yet to honestly see judge anything, so I have no clue how capable he is to be honest, but by having looked at his charts he'd be a good judge too I imagine. Would like to see him get a chance in the future. /my 2 cents on that

Also, you may want to update the OP with the judge list and such :/ It'd be nice to sort of know who's on the judge teams. <3

except niala came out of nowhere and started judging
I really can't think of a reason why he's a judge lol

I know people are probably going to disagree with me, but given the facts, that's the way I see it.

You know, I don't know if this has ever been asked, but what makes a judge? What does one have to do to either get experience and or learn to judge anyways?

this is 100% on point even though I don't agree with it in context

being "qualified" for the position of being a Judge is pretty subjective on the surface, but when you break it down it should have at least 3 requirements:
1) you have to have at least 1 file in-game or in-queue
2) you have to have at least like 6mon of experience
3) you have to show you possess the ability to judge fairly and with as little personal bullshit as possible (this would be a sorta "after the fact" requirement. like a thing you could get kicked off for etc)

that said I've yet to see a review from naialialai or whoever that I felt was actually well written and in all honesty their position as a judge does bother me, but I'm not gonna raise a stink about it because at the end of it all the way the judging process really works it's best not to get mad about shit and just keep resubmitting until you get it in lmao

honestly i'd love to judge and think I could make a pretty good influence on the quality of the charts, overall, in game. that said I've said some pretty inflammatory shit both on and off the forums so if there was doubt as to my quality as a judge i wouldn't be surprised lmao.
I've done preliminary judging for mocher's FFRCP pack and a bit of judging for LCP in the past though so w/e

anyway pce

Eh. I haven't seen it but regardless, everything in stepping aside from Sync is pretty much subjective to a point in my mind. I'll have to go skim it later I guess.

And to be honest even if it's synced correctly a chart can still be such a train wreck it gets a one to me. But that's just my thoughts.

To give you an idea, I judge fairly strictly...

...but I still gave Robotomy a 7/10. The song is something else, yeah, but the notes for that particular file were uncalled for. Taking off for music choice is acceptable if the song is unprofessionally done, but the song is quite complex in its own right and would merit a pass, rather than a major deduction.

Also, I vouch for Rog's simfiling ability, he knows what he's doing and would probably make a fine judge if he took it seriously.

Batches don't close. They're always open now.

But if you're talking about when the next 120 files are reviewed, that won't be until at least we get another 120 files! And of course, not until this current batch is finished.

Things will slow down, because people's ability to submit files are limited by bi-monthly SAP (simfile artist points).

Right, it can be an absolutely awful chart still, but my point was that objectively, if it is correctly synced and the BPM is correct, etc., it should not receive lower than a 2/10. It did though, which is very unprofessional, and completely disregards any standard of judging to push an agenda.

I don't want robotomy on FFR because it isn't an FFR file. If I have to judge robotomy I won't be passing it and I'll be giving it a1/10 on the grounds that the song and file are not fit for FFR.

if that's the case then we should pull a bunch of files from FFR because they're not "fit for FFR"

whatever that means

To be honest, this is a good question. But I also think this is really dependent on who you ask. Like the thirdstyle users see me as a judge (to be honest I think I'm still somewhat a little closed minded to be one, but hey I'm happy to do what I can.) But I mean by FFR standards, I'd be a pretty bad judge in retrospect as I am now. (I'd love in the future to try my hand at it though, but I think I need a little more refinement in learning terminology and such.)

See I can agree with this. You aren't my favorite person by any means, but your personality has no effect on your judging capability. In fact, I loathe most of your charts in SM, and I still think you'd be an asset as a judge. They're just not my cup of tea to be fair. :3

h4h4 jokez, funny guy (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y). This is basically what I gathered out of Niala's review of Robotomy though.
