Soul- thanks for your insightful words. lol i agree.

God- I was just saying how with your gear, you would do fine in BT/SWP. if you were in need of a guild like 2 weeks ago. we had a severe Priest shortage. like all three kinds just vanished onto thin air. dont worry man, you'll get back into it

Holy priests are tough to figure out how to itemize for, coming from the mage DPS perspective.

I learned about the 459 intellect rule today, and that Elitist Jerks thread is waiting...gotta take an afternoon and read that long thing.

You could ask your girl friend how hard it is...oh wait...just playing. Maybe soon you will get up to my lock and I might actually have a competent quest partner.

Paladin tanking is fantastic fun. My problem with warrior tanking is that you need to be taking damage to build rage to generate threat to keep aggro. So you really can't go too over the top on avoidance, just pile on the reduction and mitigation and hope your healer is up for it.

Since as a paladin you're generating most of your threat from righteous fury making holy damage deal basically double the threat, and then doing lots of holy damage with seal of righteousness or vengeance and a +spell damage weapon, you don't actually need to be getting hurt to keep threat. Which gives you the option of building up a healthy dodge/parry rate on top of your block.

And then when it comes to tanking the really big scary things, spiritual attunement pretty much keeps you in as much mana as you need to spam off judgements, and AoE when you can, and keep the all important holy shield up non-stop.

Paladins need to be getting hit to regen mana, you know, unless you like having to drink after every pull.

And I wouldn't recommend stacking dodge and parry to a high amount since while judgments and consecration are pretty good with aggro nothing can replace Holy Shield/ret aura in terms of aoe tanking. Really the only use for high amounts of dodge is if you're going to be tanking hyjal or anything with more than 5 mobs on you, in which case i'd just carry and avoidance set of gear.

The main advantage to paladin tanking over a warrior is that warriors are ridiculously tough to tank with. And they can only tank 2-3 mobs at a time. Unlike paladins who can put out consecration and then wait for mobs to eat their holy shield to build aggro warriors have to tab sunder/cleave/single target taunt in order to control 2-3 mobs.

Tanking as a Paladin isn't very tough at all, but you gotta be prepared to take several hits at once. Paladins are amazing in Magister's Terrace and Shattered Halls, seeing as they have 4-6 mob pulls.

All you really have to do is get about 10k hp, 490 defrating, 100% avoidance with redoubt and holy shield, and at least 200 spell damage. Oh, and learn to never bubble, even when your health is low, you just gotta have faith in your healer.

Would someone care to tell me how you get names/ranks in front/behind your name in game? Is it like, PvP based, kill base or what exactly?

There's the old pvp system that gives rank like Marshall or Stone guard and stuff like that. Those titles are no longer available.

Then Hand of A'dal and Champion of the Naruu are all based on killing raid bosses and doing a rather lengthy questline.

Rival, Challenger, Duelist and Gladiator are all based on arena ranks.
