I wouldnt mind seeing a D7 just to tighten up the competition in D6 and watch the true top players go at it in D7. Even after being eliminated it was fun watching battles between people like samurai and dossar. |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
As a member of the non-elite, I'm all for D7 It's a good way to make the battling of the very best players the centerpiece of each round, rather than suffocating that drama until like Round 6. And it gives more people more chances to win. What's not to love?

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
I understand the idea of expecting people to skillboost their way to the top of these kinds of tournaments, but really, theres a limit.
If you expect someone who is just recently AAA'ing 75-77's to somehow be able to whip out 85-90 AAA's like it's nobodies business within 4-5 weeks, that is just completely unrealistic. It's different for other divisions, because if someone who just recently started AAA'ing 65-67's gets put in D5, they stand a reasonable chance of being able to AAA 75's~ within a few weeks if they try hard enough. It's like asking one person to go from climbing a really tall rock to climbing a small local mountain, and asking another guy to go from climbing a small local mountain to climbing Mt. Everest

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
I myself think that there should be another division (d7).. yet there is simply just a lack of d7 skill players. I mean, I agree that the skill gap in d6 is extremely variable. yet, at the same time if you were to divide it into another group, its going to be extremely small. It is honestly a tough call.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
Lol I'm just trying to get an idea of why the top tier wouldn't want a D7 is all. I've been told that they're against it and I am trying to be as fair as possible to all players. I'm hoping that the things I listed would make a D7 more fair and more enticing for the players. In this instance if we do it though they'd be playing the same files as D6 this time around since obviously we weren't going to do a D7 but at the same time that means D6 is still stuck with a really high file for the end as well haha.

Maybe for the final 3 rounds you give D7 3 different higher level songs rather than have D6 stick with it??

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
hey Plan, remember that time where I skillboosted in the 4th official?
No but seriously, I'm bringing it up to illustrate a point -- it's not hard to increase your skill when you possess that kind of potential. It all goes down to optimizing, and spending as much time as you can figuring out how to improve things. Honestly, I could probably nail nearly all of the remaining FGOs I have left if I sat down and isolated them all, haha. |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
I was going to say, if you're just going to use the same files D6 would be receiving but segregating the upper tier players to their own division, I'm fine with that.
If it was all 86+ bullshit from like round 2/3 onwards, I'd be a bit pissed since I'm the type of player that tanks hard after a certain point. But there's really nothing I could say considering the overwhelming majority in favor of D7 at this point. Plus D7-exclusive prizes don't sound half bad. Considering how few players there will be to begin with in D7, I'm hoping that maybe everyone will get something regardless of where they place. Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
I honestly wouldn't mind a D7 (even though idk if I have a say in this or not seeing as I'm not participating), but as m0de said, there aren't enough D7 players.

So if this is done it will be as what I've mentioned. Cumulative for D7, exclusive prizes for them, anyone that wins D6 will be D7 the following tournament and the songs for this one in both D6 and D7 will be the same since it wasn't originally planned. If this is agreeable then I say we should go for it. I do want as fair a shot for everyone, but that includes the top tiered players as well. Being that there's the lack of players is exactly why I say cumulative scoring. That makes it a battle to the end between the top tier players which I think would be cool to watch. |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament
In any event, giving D7 all ridiculously hard files would be terrible for the game, haha. The game would get massacred with brutally hard files near the end of the tournament.

I would definitely want to give something to everyone, I just need to figure out what exactly so you'd all have to bear with me on finding D7 exclusive prizes.
