Re: I cheated, I'm sorry
Well, I may as well fess-up too. I helped A2 cheat in the tournament.
It started back in February before the tournament actually began. I had actually been going through severe depression for years until then (I don't expect anyone to feel bad for me. I am just stating my reason as to why I helped him cheat) and I was going to...well, yeah. A2 and I have been good friends for pretty much our whole lives and he stuck with me that night and helped me out. I really owe a lot to him. What I did, helping A2 cheat, is nothing of my nature. I am respectful and trustworthy and a very understanding person. I feel I have shown that during my time here on FFR. The fact that A2 helped me out made me think I needed to help him out in cheating in that tournament. I felt bad that no one respected him on here because of what he had done beforehand on the forums. I knew he really wasn't a bad person and I wanted to help FFR see that. Ironically, the way to show it just makes him a bad person. I guess I thought helping him cheat was the only way to get back that respect. He wanted to cheat for revenge and I wanted to help because he helped me. We both weren't thinking right. I drove to his house, when I was in the area, and played the song for each round when they were posted. After awhile, I used a proxy that he used as well, just in case my IP could be detected through playing games. We both really felt guilty about it, but we were in too deep. The only thing now was to fix as much as we could in preparation of the day when we would have to confess. I talked to A2 and told him he had to give the money back to FFR. He agreed, and the same went with the credit bets he had going on. Everything had to be given back. I also told him I would help him run a tournament to give any credits he had to the FFR community. I wanted to make it so there would be as less hatred as possible towards him and me. Now, if you recall, Shash said A2 was legit. Well, we both made a video that fooled Shash into thinking that. I'm sorry Shash... Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWqQY8Uohcc The keyboard A2 was using in the video wasn't plugged in. He was hitting next to the keys to make it look like he was actually hitting the keys and moving his hands. I was to the right of him, off screen, with a keyboard that actually was plugged in. The cords were hidden, the blinds dimmed to hide shadows, and the camera angeled to make it look convincing. I don't know what else to say except that I'm sorry. We both are. A2 wouldn't have been able to cheat at all without my help, so I am really the one to blame. I know he is actually a really good kid and so am I. It is why we are both confessing to this. I respect FFR very much for what it has given to me and to all the friends I have made on here. There is nothing much else I can do now. I am willing to send Synth $30 via paypal to make up for the money A2 "won". I understand any hatred towards me now and whatever comes my way because of this. It isn't like me to do something like this, but I can't change that now. I'm sorry everyone. Last edited by HammyMcSquirrel; 06-19-2007 at 02:17 AM.. |

I admire the fact that both of you fessed up. There's my two cents. What more can I say? :/

Re: I cheated, I'm sorry
Btw, A2's Vrofl and FF7 scores are actually legit. In case anyone cares anymore. Ha, I doubt anyone will believe me on that, though.

Re: I cheated, I'm sorry
You shouldn't have had A2 pressing next to the keys, you should have had him pressing the keys with them autohotkeyed to do nothing lol. That was a pretty good fake, anyway, though. You 2 really are good people in my eyes.
Edit: and I believe that VB Vrofl and FF7.

Heh...A2 can't play songs like the one we did, so hitting the keys would look more suspicious. Also, we didn't want too loud of keytaps. Yeah, if anyone has any questions, go ahead and ask. |

Re: I cheated, I'm sorry
Yea, crappy offbeat easy songs and mashing skill don't have much relation to how good a player is, someone could be really bad and still be really good at both, or be really good and still be really bad at both.

Re: I cheated, I'm sorry
Well, all I can really say is that at least this thread did not turn out ugly =], seeing you both and Doug are being good sports about it. ^.^
All in all, this was done for a good cause. I just don't see it having such a big negative affect unless the convenience of having someone who plays FFR well play for you is a wrong thing. It was unfair, but they did the right thing in the end anyway. Who knows who else have done similar things with this tourney? >>; <<; Well, I'll admit I did help a person who goes to my school and was in my same classes. He signed up for beginner, since he wasn't that great. Anyway, he gave his account and pass, played See You Dance for him and yeah. I wanted to continue too, but it's a good thing my laziness stopped me from giving him the next round score. Yeah.

Re: I cheated, I'm sorry
If there is a Chicago convention, I still plan on going to it and dragging A2 along with me. Please, nobody stab or shoot us or something if we go.
