![]() to clarify, could a simfile have an expert chart at 20, and also have two lower charts at 14 and 17? or would you remove the easier charts?

If the lower difficulties are fun enough for index, I'll probably put it in the pack.

![]() So what is this difficulty system? "18 - 36." Is that the FFR difficulty range (out of 100)? Or what?
If so that's incredibly easy and people could do files one FINGERED. If I play with hands off I could index some 70s in FFR without much difficulty Last edited by Rebirth0; 04-7-2014 at 02:59 PM.. |

To see what higher difficulties look like, I'd suggest looking at this. http://divinelegy.com/simfiles/aoreo...dex%20Jawn.zip

![]() I looked at 5 - 6 files in that pack. I'm not so sure this should be used as any kind of reference. The guy seems to think index files are nothing but fast streams and a jump every 200 - 300 notes. One file even had hands in it, which isn't HORRIBLE but it isn't what is called "indexable." I also don't really like the difficulty system. It seems just fine to use the 10 - 15 foot method like we always have, especially in 2003 - 2006
Those files are not what index files should be like. You gotta have technicality to your files. Jumpstream is honestly alright as long as it isn't too fast or as long as it doesn't contain hands. Hayden's Stunt Flying is a perfect example of an indexable jumpstream file. Though it is very difficult and would be on the higher end of the scale on what is acceptable |

![]() On a standard ddr / itg pad scale a 25 would be impossible on index let alone a 36. A 20 would be close to the absolute limit of difficulty for an index file if that is the scale you are using.
By the way for me to work on this pack it would really need to have some serious quality standards and guidelines. It also definitely can't be called "indexjawns". Unfortunately that word is just incredibly stupid and turns me off to this. Something like "Index Community I" is a lot more professional sounding. I know a lot of you love the whole dump files and shitfest of packs, but I can't bring myself to work on something that wouldn't have some standard of quality. This should be something both a new casual player and veterans can find entertaining. So just being "fun" isn't enough of a quality check. |

![]() I think it would be for the best to conform to modern standards for the difficulty ratings though, guys

![]() That's fine. Someone mentioned it being on the standard pad scale. Which appears to not be true.

![]() This is a 25 on the ITG scale.
I'm not getting at what you mean by the "standard pad scale" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RA6KWAtiQ6Y

![]() No, that is like a 15-16 on the itg scale. Summer speed mix is a 13, on whatever scale you are going by it would be a 18-20.

![]() I'm in (as I mentioned on r21), and I already have a chart to submit (I must edit it a bit tho).
Still waiting for rip to get stepped :P Awesome idea, and you'd be surprised how many people actually are good at index. Or at least can make hard files. Because all you need to do is 300 BPM and a reason for 16ths (or even not) :P |

![]() I don't see how that is a 19. Also how is a 19 harder than a 25? Those are both like 15-17.

![]() Also pad scales generally take into account the length of a file (and by association its stamina requirement to do well on) as an increase in difficulty somewhat substantially. For example, a file with 150 bpm 16ths that are short might only be an 11, but put 2 minutes of them without any breaks and suddenly its a 15.
Difficulties are subjective and should be treated as such, hence having a difficulty requirement as a submission guideline is a bit strange. |

![]() Good grief man, people take difficulty scales seriously nowadays haha. I have no idea WTF an 18-70 scale or whatever the shits you guys are talking about is...I'm just going to make a file that will be fun to play on index and hopefully be challenging to AAA or AAAA like I usually do.
I'll see if I can cook something up for this.
