Re: A world with no trolling
It's Arizona...not really surprised about them attempting to pass another retarded law.
Then again, Arizona itself is a giant troll.

Re: A world with no trolling
In my opinion, the problem with this bill is that it doesn't seem to really specify what offensive comments would be considered law-breaking; i.e., will simple acts like simply blurting out insults to another person (which typically happens when playing competitive games; i.e., FPS games) be a lawbreaking offense, or is this law more directed towards more serious acts? Sure, the law specifies some things, but in the end the most of what the law states (at least to me) is simply that, well, if you somehow offend someone in any shape or form over the internet then, well, off to jail for you!
Really though, I think we all just bitch at and troll each other because we have nothing else better to do and we like drama. |

People will keep trolling and add /imnotsrs at the end of each lines to avoid problems.
It's basically like going from Chaotic Neutral to Lawful Evil. |

"to use ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE and use any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggest any lewd or lascivious act,"
goodbye prochat I personally think this bill is fine as is. It is the duty of the judicial branch to interpret a law to fit the situation presented to them, and it could easily be that judges could decide to overlook benign situations that don't come to a head, instead filling their docket with cases like that of Hope Witten. I think the article makes mention of this being a rewrite of an obsolete bill that was worded to take aim at obscene phone calls, so good on them for trying to change with the times.

Or maybe, just maybe those of us who say it is overly-broad and badly-written are correct. At the very least it needs to be seriously re-written. It'd be better if it didn't pass at all though because it's already illegal to stalk or harass others -- making a special "ON THE INTERNET" version of that is redundant. When existing laws work, don't introduce new ones. |
