Hey look on the bright side for the controllers: If you ever got mad at a game and hurled your controller, it would come flying right back to you.

Controller design blows and the system design blows. Who likes rounded consoles anyway? They've also gone in an almost completely different direction of design than with the PSP.. Blah..
This thing better perform better than it looks. |

Also, Shox, I've read that tere will probably be 1 plug in controller socket in the back. I'm not sure if I read this for the 360 or PS3...but that's what I read, and then maybe dualshock would be possible.

That is one ugly console, not buying it most likely.

It looks a lot better in Black. I think my initial reaction to the design was more shock than anything else. It looks nothing like any sony product I have ever seen...but it really isnt that bad.

RE: Re: RE: The PS3 Is Here.
First reaction = OMFGOSH IT'S WHITE WTF!?!?
*clicks picture for a better view* Second reaction = Whew, it comes in black, too. I agree that the roundness is not good. Not because of how it looks, but because I can't stack stuff on it and whatnot. Oh well though, I guess I shouldn't be stacking stuff on top of my consoles anyway. =P And as far as the controller goes....are you guys really not even seeing that it is another iteration of the dual shock? The bars come down way further, yeah, but it's basically the same thing. Really, I'd have to see it in person and get my hands on it before I could judge it. Oh, and am I the only one who finds it hilarious that people are already arguing over these things and stuff isn't even completely finalized? I mean, they wouldn't even need to show the PS3, just announce that it exists, and everybody would instantly be like "hell yeah PS3 rocks it's so much better than X-Box 360!" and then everybody else would be like "oh hell no X-Box 1 is better than PS3!" etc etc etc. Silly fanboys.

It's too bad it's not exactly an original design, the controllers that is. Well, I mean.. they look like evry other generic/shitty PS2/PC controller. You think they would move forward in comfortability rather than backwards.
Controllers should be made more like the Gamecube controller (grooved) rather than the NES controller. |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: The PS3 Is Here.
Well Jewpin, if you had G4TechTv, They broadcasted most of the 2 hour Sony conferance on Tv. The proucers of the PS3 had plenty of technical demos to show the power of the PS3. Let's just say after seeing the ducks, the explosion, the real-time Unreal 3 engine, the Cell powered Leaf-Cyclone demo, and a completely remade opening scene for FFVII, I'm ready to believe the PS3 will be the most powerful Next-Gen console at the moment.
Let me explain some of the technical demos by the way. For example, thier was the Leaf Cyclone demo which used only the power of the Cell processer. There was a large field with hundreds of thousands of leaves on it. There were three tornadoes spinning around the fiel picking up leaves as it went. No impressive right? Wrong. Each cyclone was rendered only with the cell processer, and the cell processer is so powerful every single leaf in the demo could have it's own audio channel.

You need to be a subscriber to get it, but I've heard Gamespot has it as well. Believe me though, this video is worth $4. |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: The PS3 Is Here.
I'm not suprised. I estimated it would launch from $400-$500, in fact, I'd be surprised if it didn't. That enormous R&D doesn't come cheap.
Did you know that every Xbox user had to buy at least five games for the system before Microsoft saw a profit? Imagine those R&D costs for a system literally hundreds of times as powerful. |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: The PS3 Is Here.
All the launches for the Playstation consoles have been way overpriced, not to mention the PSP. However, I even said to msyelf that I can't honestly see the PS3 being under $400. Then I saw the estimation.
However, I believe the Revolution will be $199. I don't see it being more or being less. The Xbox 360 will be the tried and true $299 mark. Again, I don't see that being more or being less. The PS3 could be anywhere from $349 to $449, in my opinion. It's stacked all to hell, and I bet development isn't that cheap either, considering the new blu-ray medium. Oh.. and I thought the Sony conference was [i]dreadfully[/b] boring, just like last year. The watched the first half of it, nearly shot myself, but instead decided to skip around through to about past 3/4s of the way and then watched the rest. Fight Night was sweet. The Microsoft conference kept me intrigued and I watched most of it. The Nintendo conference was amazing, as usual. I would suggest getting the IGN subscription if you want the conferences and/or coverage of E3. $17.95 for a years worth of IGN is amazing. I'm already an Insider though. |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: The PS3 Is Here.
IMO, the Sony conferance had my attention the whole way through. The Microsoft one seemed a bit rehearsed and you could tell too by the way the Crowd behind Jay Allard had their arms up in a X during the show. What's up wit that!? Also, I almost drowned in my cup of Kool-Aid due to the boringness of it. But all in all, it's been a amazing E3 this year, and I can't wait to see what the next 2-3 years hold in store for the gaming industry.

I just realized how amazing those cell processors on the PS3 were. There is no way any other console can compete with 9 freaking amazing processors.

RE: Re: RE: The PS3 Is Here.
Will PS and PS2 games be compatible with the PS3 like the PS games are compatible to PS2?
