Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
A lot of really good suggestions here.
Also I actually like the idea of having an "elitist" status. It gives the good players a little prestige. and we can give the newcomers a "noob" status. jk

Go with the 3's ya' know? Also, izzy's idea of the 4th bar is very interesting. But, what happens when you reach the vet. get point requirement? Will the ffr point system keep elevating and there will be even greater things to come with more ffr points? Or will it just poof! with the vet get? Quote:
lul... what if a newcomer(alt) just wrecks ffr and aaa's fgo? "Not a noob" title?

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
I was bored and intrigued, so I did some math, woo!
I based my math off two things 1. Veteran status requires 3 years and 3Bil GT with 0 posts 2. Requirement for veteran status decreases with posts ->final solution: Q(m,t) = -f(m)/k + 3e^(-kt+3k) just pick an equation f(m) that shows that rate at which forum posts decrease your veteran GT requirement, and choose a constant k that shows the rate of how your GT requirement decreases with time. I chose f(m)=ln(m+1) and k = 0.75 as an example. 0 forum posts: ->0 years: 28.46 GT required ->1 year: 13.44 GT required ->2 years: 6.351 GT required ->3 years: 3 GT required 1000 forum posts: ->0 years: 19.25 GT required ->1 year: 4.23 GT required ->~1.5 years: 0 GT required lol my math is probably too simple though |

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
vet·er·an
n. 1. A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity Veteran status is for people who are long experienced with the way the FFR community works. This has been arbitrarily pegged at three years. I don't care how many billion points you got in the three days after you signed up or whatever, veteran status is for people who have been part of the community for a long time. If you joined in 2011, you haven't been part of the FFR community for a long time. If it were called "people who contribute a lot to FFR" status or something then I can understand the argument. But it's not. It's for veterans. People who have been around FFR for a long time. End of story. The only people I can see this argument being made for are the people who have lurked for three years and only recently signed up. Except those people don't deserve veteran status either because they're stupid for not registering earlier. tldr; current system is fine, veteran status doesn't really mean anything anyway. it shouldn't become something that means a lot. it should mean you've been registered for 3 years and nothing more. my 2c

Yes.

The FFR point idea does have potential in the, "people who contribute alot to FFR" group, though; maybe.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
I personality think that veteran status should be something you just "get" after being on a site for a while not something you get and "HOLY SHIT I GET MORE FEATURES" type of thing. In my opinion, most (if not all) of the features you get as a veteran should be features normal users should have access to. I find it really dumb that normal users are not allowed to do something as simple as "viewing other people's level ranks" or "seeing their credit transactions" or EVEN not being able to view the "FFR Top Average Players" list I mean REALLY?
This really needs to change.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
Although, if there were to be FFR points that show how you contribute to FFR, there would have to be penalties for breaking the FFR rules.
Banned X days = -X points? Or, posting an irrelevant comment like "lol". <3 I love this typo

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
Gaining a title for a certain number of tier points actually sounds like a great idea since the tier points are being revamped anyway and will hopefully be an accurate estimate of skill.

The issue is not with the veteran system, it's with determining what perks there should be for becoming a veteran. I'm all for this being reduced to NONE other than a shiny blue name and maybe the veteran song thing. That's about it.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
I might use this as my main account now that I'm a vet.
I support Izzy's idea the most. The 4th bar would give FFR the opportunity to provide some type of achievement. like the tier breakers. |

hopefully. Tier points seem like the only way to determine the elitist players right now. 964, we could prolly just have it really simple, with: F = u + c + k F = total FFR points u = every 100 posts c = every 1,000,000 points(Grand Total) k = years after join date. Or: F = u + c + (k)2 F = total FFR points u = every 100 posts c = every 1,000,000 points(Grand Total) k = years after join date. Since time is not something we can control, it should probably give off more points. So... Here's my FFR points in the form of my eq(s): 20 = 5 + 12 + 3 or 23 = 5 + 12 + 3(2) (400 < 500 > 600) posts = 5 "u" points (11 < 12 > 13) bil gt = 12 "c" points (2 < 3 > 4) years after join date = 3 "k" points

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
It is possible that FFR points could be used for something else entirely. Like...
| FFR point(s) | Perk(s) | 1 = ability to change ur name to purple 2 = access to more fonts 3 = ect. ect ectectectect Little tiny perks with more FFR points. That way, if someone wanted to obtain something that required FFR points, they would have to get involved with The Game, and forums.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
There is a limitless number of things to program. Somebody just has to do and administrators have to agree on it. I love little perks, so I am all for going crazy with ffr points system and a shop etc..
