Re: Question for those that use ddream
As it's been said, ddream's UI is more intuitive, with the keyboard shortcuts and mouse functionality. I tidy up my BPMs before I send file, and I'd leave a note in the review asking the stepper to do so, too. It helps to keep a copy of the cleaned up BPMs open in another text file to paste back into the .sm after saving. The extra bytes don't matter when converted into an .ffr file, but for an SM pack submission, yeah, clean is nice.
For anyone who doesn't know, ddream stores beat locations on samples. So for the typical 44100 Hz .mp3, you'll get a nice constant BPM as long as it divides evenly into 2646000. For example, at 145 BPM, it has to choose between 18248 and 18249 samples per beat, thus alternating between 145.002192 and 144.994246 BPM (though ddream rounds to three decimal places). P.S. Middie, what problem are you having with copying and pasting in ddream? There's an option for switching between paste overwriting or merging. The keyboard shortcuts work like normal, except to copy from one file into another, you have to open the second file over the first: the clipboard data doesn't carry over between windows. |

Re: Question for those that use ddream
Yo breaking news
DDReam has an option to save static BPM .sm files with one BPM It's an option when you choose "Save As" and it looks like this: wow incredible picture guide included so you can do it yourself amazing p.s. Silvuh's explanation of why you soemtimes get the weird fluctuating bpms and don't for other songs is really well explained, gj bro

Re: Question for those that use ddream
There is literally no reason that the bpm flutter should be retained from ddream files. You can fix it in like 30s in notepad if you have bpm changes, or you can just save it as static bpm if it only has one bpm. DDream isnt the problem, lazy steppers are.
You know what else is annoying? SM Editor elitists. |

2. I'm also really bothered when I see someone call a chart "boring and generic." For starters, no file is unique anymore. There is no single thing that hasn't been done before on four key. But if you're gonna hate on someone for stepping nothing but "generic" music options such as Sharpnel and Renard, you also need to be disgusted with simauthors whom use the same technique every single file or a large portion of every file. Before I use this example I'm going to mention I use this only because it is the best available. Not because of a personal opinion. I may not like this person, ect but that's irrelevant to the point I am making. Let us look at the best example (in my opinion) of "generic" simfile making. Icyworld. This one person is renowned as a jumpstream stepping master. (From what I gather.) He leads and organizes the "Nuclear Blast" packs which mostly consists of jumpstream files (assuming you knew this but on chance you're new and live under a rock, there you go.) We're going to compare three (despite there being many more, but due to my lack of stepmania knowledge I don't know any other names off the top of my head) of his charts at specific times to denote how much he charts JS We Luv Lama: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdzt_cryf30&t=4m25s Future Dominators: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzUG4rAyG-U&t=0m13s Ultra Beatdown Supreme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mmwmAt0mOQ Like seriously if you're one of these "stop charting generic songs" people, and you play most of Icy's charts, you're a huge hypocrite. Again I mean no ill-will toward you Icy, but you're just a great example. (And yes the fact I used what I think is Sharpnel songs and a Dragonforce is in fact intended irony because they're all generic hard song authors.) Quote:

Re: Question for those that use ddream
attention you motherfucking idiots
when saving your fucking ddream stepfiles with no bpm changes, use save as type: stepmania/itg, single bpm there is absolutely no problem with using ddream for generic techno files as long as you save them as single bpm or edit the .sm file manually if you use a version of ddream that doesn't have this feature, what the fuck is wrong with you holy fuck it's like everyone on both sides is retarded in other words pat du supped me by like 30 posts

Re: Question for those that use ddream
sm5's step editor does nothing new that is legitimately helpful to the average stepcharter and has broken ui in almost every version of sm5, unlike ddream
