Actually several of the lets say "technically correct" threads -were- left open/reopened/undeleted at the same time all of that happened. They were locked as a mass-action to stop the spam long enough to figure out what was going on, and then several were reopened/put back so there's that.

A bunch of activity is fine, a bunch of spammy nonsense isn't activity, it's spammy nonsense.

No one cares about random thoughts anymore, no one goes out of their way to read them, they are essentially dead.

I agree that your case of this thread with "yo" being the title and "sup" being the OP is not something that is ok, but the reason of "Just make a random thought for this, you'll get a similar experience to one of making a thread" just isn't true anymore.

Getting a similar experience for a random thought may not exactly be true for the most part anymore; however, I don't think that changing trends should effectively change the way forum rules operate. These days, most people do those sort of random conversations on Skype or Discord, or even other social media platforms.
