NOPE *extends neck*
I was Justin Bieber :monkey: On a serious note, I do agree with MaxGhost/qqwref about the Veteran song issue. The idea of veteran early releases was good, but it's unfair to the public ranks right now. |

Re: Ingame Song Information
While we're reworking things, can I propose a category rework for BW.
My ideas: Rename Dance to Electronic (that's basically what most of it is) and merge them if we can manage at all without the screen being too cluttered. Take what doesn't fit into it anymore (Tribal Revival, Infinite Blue, etc.) and: Move all the J-pop and other Eastern sounding stuff into a new category. Something like "Japanese" or "Oriental" or "Asian" [hope I didn't accidentally offend anyone] Put everything else that doesn't fall into something else in Misc. Take the dancey stuff out of Misc and: Put all the pop (Casio Destroy Toy, all the soft rock, etc.) into its own category. Put the DnB, other Aaron Funk stuff, etc into Electronic. Not sure about the theoretical nuances of this one, but maybe combine hip-hop and funk into contemporary. Also I'm throwing jazz out there too, even though it's not really contemporary, it has a similar sound. All the others are fine like they are, I think...

Re: Ingame Song Information
Mmrrm no. That sort of categorization is based off the number of songs that a specified genre has. It's better to group songs off of the major "genres" of music, rather than grouping all Japanese songs as the "oriental genre", only to find that perhaps later, the game is overrun by dubstep or some other genre that wasn't prevalent before. And you don't go stuffing funk into electronic. Funk is funk. No matter how few songs are present in those genres, they don't belong in electronica. It's a mess to base your categories on what sort of songs are most prevalent on FFR, since this is a pretty dynamic factor.
It's a better standard to group songs into the major genres of music. That stays the same. Last edited by bmah; 08-30-2011 at 07:17 PM.. |

Re: Ingame Song Information
There's more jazz than funk in the game, I'd rather see that switched up. Or as XCV said, contemporary.

Re: Ingame Song Information
I agree that Jazz should be a genre and Funk should not.
I still disagree on qq/maxghost's proposal that the veteran's song should go into token ranks. a. it's not a token b. it's motivation for non-veterans to stay committed to becoming one. c. I want a veteran perk to actually affect my ranks. The others can wait 2 weeks and it won't be a problem for them anymore. Most non-veterans still have outstanding secret/purchased songs bogging down their avrank that needs attending to first anyhow.

Neither are legacy songs.

Re: Ingame Song Information
Veteran stuff should only lead to non-tangible benefits. More saved replays, better interfaces for levelrank.php, top average player list, etc.
I think the Veteran requirements should be changed to something where you need to get: ANY OF: <500 av rank. 10bil points 3 years member Or maybe something where if you're short a year, you can make it up by having more points or something. Having to wait 3 years is a pretty big let down for someone who first gets into the game. Seconded Funk -> Jazz. Funk songs -> hip hop or jazz or misc vvv Yeah you're right Last edited by emulord; 08-31-2011 at 08:30 PM.. |

Re: Ingame Song Information
Just played through Satori v1 and v2...I'm confused as to how Satori v2 is a Challenging. I'm currently at the standard where I can FC most 7s quickly, most 8s with some effort and 9s not at all, with a few rare exceptions that fall in place easily. Satori v2 is...it really feels a lot more like a 7.
Aside from the random 32nds, this file is as 7 as it gets. I guess the 32nds could justify a low 8 rating, but 9? Really? When v1 has all those retarded (but fun lol) 12th and 24th trills that fill up the first 250 notes or so, and two sections later on with fairly fast jumptrills for an 8. I was really tired but managed to FC v2 within 2 tries, but v1 took me a lot longer without outright mashing because of the aforementioned parts. v1 is a justifiable 8, v2 not so much. ...and v2 has something like ~80? notes less than v1. So there's that Last edited by VisD; 09-4-2011 at 11:22 AM.. |

And while we're talking about overrated 9, I really don't understand Yoshi's Cookie. Short song normally have complicated pattern for the difficulty they're in, but not with this one : it's like a classic 9 that last only 25 seconds :/ . |

Re: Ingame Song Information
Aite kids, ordered the most difficult files in the game (in b4 subjective shitstorm)
I put a lot of thought into this and tried to be as objective as possible (trying to analyze how specific patterns/length/tps/etc. truly affected the difficulty of each file) but obviously there's still gonna be some discrepancy~ Also, each time I run down the list, I see a few songs that I think should probably be switched around...but hey, that's why I'm posting this here (and I think I got it kinda close) Anyways, here: Didn't add numbers yet either since the gap between a file like Revo and DP is pretty massive, yet they're only four songs apart on my list Also in b4 everyone bitches about how far down Blue Rose is And lmfao throw Crowdpleaser wherever the **** you guys want because I honestly have no idea where to put it working on FMOs now~ |

Re: Ingame Song Information
Psh, vRofl is at the wrong endddd =]
I still don't understand why everyone rates Nomina so dang hard...I just got 10-0-2-2 on it, and my next best FGO score is upper teens/mid twenties.... and Frictional Nevada, which I got 2-0-2-2..

Re: Ingame Song Information
p.s. my personal difficulty list would look much different compared to the list I threw down, especially when it comes to the higher FGOs, so I also took into account how most players feel about certain files (at least according to what I've read in the scores thread every now and then)
