Re: FFR's Top One Handers
Yeah my laptop doesn't have a numpad; just a set of arrow keys that are really small, flat, and are surrounded by other keys nearby as well. I need a new USB keyboard anyways (or heck, a new laptop that's not Vista as the OS).
With my old keyboard, my really odd 4-finger playing could produce some decent scores. I remember FCing Border of Maximum fairly cleanly (teens goods? can't remember exact score). *my positioning were on the arrow keys only: thumb on left, index on down, ring on right, middle finger on up Last edited by bmah; 02-28-2012 at 10:17 AM.. |

For simple fast middle trills with NO extra notes surrounding them (unlike La Campanella), I'm learning to quickly turn my hand 180 degrees and slide back and forth sideways really quickly. Moving back and forth sideways is much faster than up and down, though at such quick speeds, I'm still adjusting to find that sweet spot.

Bynary, or SK8ter... do you two lay your middle finger flat out on both keys? Or is there another way of positioning the middle finger for {23} jumps? I occasionally find some jumpstreams really awkward with {23} jumps =/

Re: FFR's Top One Handers
I've been pressing in-between the up/down keys with the tip of my finger to hit both keys twice, although I've only been playing easy songs, so I don't know if that technique would fair well with harder songs. x.x

Re: FFR's Top One Handers
For up down Jumps yes we Both lay our middle fingers flat. For up down trills i just use my middle finger for both up and down, makes it soo much easier and less awkward.

I think you should learn to lay it flat. Though try not to lose your ability to hit both with the tip of your finger. See if it works on higher difficulty songs =D

Re: FFR's Top One Handers
What SK8R said - use one finger for [23] jumps. It's infinitely superior to hitting them with 2 fingers, especially in jumpstreams. Also, I have no clue how you hit up/down trills with just one finger on that bulky ass keyboard, SK8R lol. I use finger but I slide up and down - on raised keys I'd strongly recommend using two fingers to hit those kinds of trills.

Re: FFR's Top One Handers
lol i no longer have that keyboard... Ive been through like 5 keyboards since you have been gone, I no longer have that monitor either. I have an Acer flat monitor and a kb with mid-slim keys so yeah that explains everything doesnt it?

Re: FFR's Top One Handers
Wow, you need to make new vids man I've been WAY out of the loop lol. It does explain a lot for sure - I was wondering how you would have gotten so good on such a bulky keyboard.

Yeah, no kidding. That score was what made me consider it, since I don't think even I can get that lol.
