From what I was hearing, ( and seen actually) Hawaii's beach's and surrounding area's look totally destroyed. Good to see something is being done about that, but most help is needed in Japan, and at the looks of it, things are getting worse. From what I'm hearing on CNN, doctors at some hospital tested 3 people for radiation randomly, and they all tested positive.
Which means that the radiation from these nuclear plants is indeed leaking into the atmosphere/air.

Those are just material damages. Those buildings, beaches, infrastructures, and what not can always be replaced. There have been no deaths, just one injury thus far. We are still in good supply in terms of food, water, and other goods.

No need to worry about us, Japan is facing the most significant problems in terms of lost lives and damages. Let's put our efforts there.

Well if that's true and there is a total meltdown in progress, how far would the nuclear radiation spread?

Judging by the growth of the affected area, it looks like it might hit there too. Everyone should catch a plane and stay at my house in Hawaii. (You don't even need a passport!)

On a serious note, I find it sad there are people that are trying to make things more worse than they already are.

Hmm...good point, but I will still probably have to travel east.

0-50 rads - No obvious short-term effects

80-120 rads - You have a 10% chance of vomiting and experiencing nausea for a few days

130 -170 rads - You have a 25% chance of vomiting and contracting other symptoms

180-220 rads - You have a 50% chance of vomiting and having other severe physical effects

270-330 rads - 20% chance of death in 6 weeks, or you will recover in a few months.

400-500 rads - 50% chance of death

550-750 rads - Nausia within a few hours ; no survivors

> 1000 rads - immediate incapacitation and death within a week or less
