BM US review.
It could have been a lot worse.
It could have been a lot better, too. All the licenses suck badly except for Virtual Insanity. Even then, it has a chart that's incredibly boring. Which brings me to the main problem with the game. It's intensely boring. There are only 4 flashing 7s: V, Colors, Nemesis, and Summer Vacation. These songs aren't even hard, however. In fact, they're all very easy. The only real difficulty in the game comes from V [a], Colors [a], Nemesis [a], and Holic [a]. Too bad you have to clear every song on both 5key and 7key mode to unlock anothers. Oh yes, 5key mode. What an exercise in futility this was. It has no anothers anyway, and all the songs except for ska a go go are pathetically easy, making it a chore to play the songs. Except 321 Stars, quite possibly the only reason to buy this game. Except it has no another so it's pointless. So yeah BM US sucks. It's boring and easy and ****. |

Re: BM US review.
Second opinion.
BMUS, to me, was pretty damn good me being a begginer, it has a nice variety of songs that vary in difficulty. The hardcore players will definitely get bored of this easily, seeing as it was made to introduce beatmania to the US, it was made to be easy, to be for begginers. So far, I've passed almost all the light 7 (normal) songs, I haven't unlocked anothers and don't need to, seeing as I'm still being challenge on hyper lol The best thing about the bundle overall has to be the controller, I found it to play wayyy better than a modded japanese controller. The keys were very responsive and haven't stuck once. My only problem is the stiffness in the turntable (which is easily fixed ;D) I in no way disgaree with Moogy's opinion, he is coming from the point of view of a hadcore player, I on the otherhand am speaking for the n00bs.

for hardcore players, you get a controller and a game for LESS than the price of importing a controller alone, plus.. the controlleris better for newbs, you will get a game you can enjoy PLUS the sweet controller. also, as far as I know, Konami will NOT be pressing up anymore copies of the game, so this is gonna be like another DDR Mario Mix..

I have absolutely no clue what this you won't be able to get it stuff is.
Most of my local gamestops/ebgames have it, and if they don't, they have more on the way. It's not too hard to go to gamestop's or ebgame's website and check.

They never said they wouldn't make any new versions just there won't be any remakes of this particular beatmania bundle as far as i know. I read an interview somewhere from the designer or something of the game and he said new styles are a very possible thing and that this was only an introduction of the series to an american audience.

Re: BM US review.
I think it was a good introduction to the US market. Having no experience at all I have been playing mostly beginner songs and having fun. I imagine I'll advance up fairly quickly after I get the timing down (I hit a little early, must be because of stepmania.)
Plus, the price is right for the controller. This will probably be for me like DDR Extreme, I played DDR Extreme a lot until I got ITG. I'll play BMUS a lot until I get some Japanese mix. And I won't bother getting japanese mixes until I'm good. edit: 5 key mode sucks except battle breaks is fun because its scratchmania.

Re: BM US review.
I saw it in ebgames but it wasn't a bundle... maybe it was just the preorder.

It's good if you're just starting out. For us more experienced players, it's trash.

Re: BM US review.
Yeah, I'm already on 5/6 stuff. It won't take me too long to get to flashing 7s (8s? lolz). I'm not even sure if I'm gonna go through the trouble to unlock the [a] charts for those few songs. I'll just have Ben mod my PS2 and then buy a Japanese version. The licenses are incredibly lol. And what's with the difficulty thingy going up to 10? Is that for the [a] charts or some ****?
ps FREE SCRATCH ZONE pps they totally butchered MGS Main Theme's original chart from the old 5 key games ppps the only hard part of ska a go go is the end, which I almost beat at my arcade when it still had Complete Mix |

Re: BM US review.
I bought the game today, it's awesome so far. Coming from little to no beatmania experience, this game is perfect for me. o2jam didn't help at all. This is somuch different.. so much more fun. I'm gonna be playing this for a long time.

I really hope that there will be another Beatmania game coming later in the year, kind of like Karaoke Revolution. Despite the game being fun, I didn't like how bare-bones it was in terms of content.
