Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
Made a spreadsheet for organizing files:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing Check it out to see what people have submitted to get a better idea which areas are currently lacking. Everything you see on the list is there tentatively at the moment. If someone is interested in helping me with the organizing of the pack/spreadsheet, talk to me on discord. t.A.T.u is such a good pick for a pack like this holy shit I'm a little embarrassed tat I slept on them.
I can see we need to go easier. The songs basically start at 6. Oh boy PS: Xel lets not forget you're also working on a pack lol. I still have 2 more I want to do for that one! Last edited by MixMasterLar; 01-4-2018 at 07:44 PM.. |

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
Spend the first two hours of my morning pouring over songs and editing them down to 2 minutes.
I have no idea why I'm so fired up about this project. I guess because I've tried getting so many people into stepmania in the past and I'm extremely ok with anything that helps people do that. I'll try not to get too far ahead with charts though. |

If it bothers u too much to have your name there you could make an alter ego. Also I didn't realize to mention that .dwi and .ssc files are not wanted or needed, I will be deleting those. Last edited by Wh1teh; 01-6-2018 at 04:27 AM.. |

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
Not the .dwi files no we need those
j/k the game still autogens them right? only reason I can think that they'd be there. We should make an Alan Smithee CDTitle and all make a file for him |

also i don't think dwi files play well with etterna, for example your miracle is dead shows up as -1 notes with no playtime |

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
Going to adjust the tentative difficulty curve a bit, because making a chart under 3 Etterna rating is quite unreasonable currently.

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
I believe charts under 3 is very doable, it just requires specific types of music and that type of music may not be suitable for absolute beginners getting into SM (I'm talking about ambience, drone, stuff similar tot hat style, that is long slow tones)

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
Gonna start figuring out real ratings next week hopefully, so we don't have to rely entirely on Etterna.

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
Kinda overwhelmed by the amount of submissions at the moment lmao, this thing really blew up.
Idk if I should increase the pack size to 150 or 200 songs, or if that would be too much. Anyway, with the current speed of things the goal of 100 songs will be completed in a week maybe. No current estimation on how long the post production and chart fixing will take. |

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
Okay so I'm gonna increase the song limit to 150 and set the deadline to 21st jan, might move it back if it seems like we can't reach 150 in time but I really doubt it.
Also the pack is going to be named Easy Songs Megapack, and we currently have no banner for it. Last edited by Wh1teh; 01-7-2018 at 05:59 AM.. |

Re: Beginner pack project for keyboard play
I think 100 is fine, especially since the chances are good a lot of them (looking at half of mine) are too hard and can be cut. Unless you want to try an do a pretty beefy range. That's your call tho.
I'm with Xel in that anything can be an easy file, but I think you'd want a song that people enjoy listening to, probably one that the beginner either has already heard before or sounds like something they'd hear outside the game. On that end, I've cut/edited down the following songs and have been making what I can only describe as the most understep files for them slowly as I've found the time over the last few days: Golden years / Bowie Loser / Beck Song 2 / Blur Fly Away / Lenny Kravitz Heart of Glass / Blondie West End Girls / Pet Shop Boys Sheena is a Punk Rocker / Yeah Yeah Yeahs Walk like an Egyptian / Bangles (Thanks Jojo for the edit) Now Ideally, I would pick Top 40 here but the thing about that is that you never know what top 40 song will last the ages, plus I fucking hate pop music so yeah cut me some slack on this one. I'd say if the hardest of these its a 3 on your little scale then I'll be impressed. while I'm trying to still have form and a pattern f or the players to recognize each of these has like 50~ steps total. For a Keyboard file that is not hard at all. EDIT: This probably will be all I do aside from tweaking/fixing/working with you on these and the previous ones I sent. I think 14 songs from a single dude is enough for now. If we need more at the end we can work on it then (which would help us judge what kind of songs/files we need better anyway) EDIT 2: I'll probably commission someone to do Graphics for my files, so don't worry about them. I'm selfish and think they all need to be based off of their respective source/music video so I'll make sure they get down later I died reading this.
