Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
Beatrice is an amazing song, and I'm glad I sightread it because I needed the ego boost after playing D4-7. Yay for 62s!

ok...
crow's nest... all the hands should be jumps, and all the jumps should be single notes. Why do people step like this???? and why all the 13 24 jump trills??

Beatrice is the best file this week.
Very-very beautiful. Also, I love Jazzy music, so that just makes it better. |

Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
About Crow's Ghost: the layering is tweaked up a layer, it seems. It's not uncommon for charts of breakcore/drum n' bass songs to have jumps on snares and cymbals on closed cymbals/open rides. While the chart might be over-aggressive, it's fairly consistent in aggression; the only difference is that you have to deal with a lot more percussion samples near the very end of the song because the breaks intensify quite a bit, haha.
EDIT: that seven note jack is fucking GAY you fucking PRICK (p.s. your chart is awesome <3) |

Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
Given what the song entails, I'm surprised that Into Your Eyes is my favourite chart this week.

Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
So yeah, as usual, here are my thoughts for this round's songs. This round really boosted in difficulty for every division in general.
Move It Groove It [Standard]: This song is soooo DDR/ITG music. FFR is a perfect home for it just as well. As for the steps, they went pretty well. I thought it was pretty tame at first until the last third of the song where some 24ths and minor 32nds were introduced. That's a step up for D1 players. Can't wait for the Heavy chart to come in the near future. Futari, Hajimari.: I think this is the first or second song ever on FFR to end in a period on its title (and not to shorten a word). It's a shame that the chart's beginning is cut off, just like old FFR files without the addition of silence. This also is mostly likely why the arrow count was wrong. Oh well, can't do anything about that now, considering this is a tournament where changing the arrow count would cause logistical issues. The steps were pretty consistent, but I sorta wish the gallopy background kota kota melody that occurs in the chorus was stepped. This is by far my favorite song of this round. Really dig the music. Beatrice: Great, smooth-flowing file for a smooth jazz song! This file is proof that iironiic is stepping better files (IMO) and I know there's more to come! The music sounds like something I'd hear at a bar or casino where you could play a game of pool with this song providing a relaxing atmosphere. The bass is cool. Step more, iironiic! Into Your Eyes (Boyinaband Remix): Holy hell, this file is tricky in so many places, but that makes this chart all the more memorable (and for me, all for the right reasons). I sorta get tired of dubstep, so I would welcome a song that's a bit more DnB-oriented...and drumstep it is! This is a pretty good song that's typical of this genre. The chart is also my favorite of this round, despite its length. You've got my seal of approval, AJ. 8) Crow's Ghost: After seeing so many hands in the preview, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this file, but it grows on you pretty quickly, at least for myself. I actually really love the [13][24][13][24] split jumptrills, and it suits the song pretty well. I personally would delayer this file a bit if I was to step it, but I can't really complain since it turned out pretty well (the 48th bursts 1/3rd through is pretty wtf though). The beginning of the song also reminds me of Ketsarku Mozgalom's intro with its voice samples. The file's ending of repeated arrows could prove to be quite the troll for those players who are trying to AAA this song, nerves and all. Infinity: Just as insane as it was back in Stepmania, except that I appreciate you cutting the song a bit, Kommisar. To me, this is quite the stamina file. The middle part of the song with its jacks (particularly the up jacks) is certainly the most memorable, and I secretly like playing that part. The 12th jumpjacks are also quite the mouthful. What irked me the most though actually had to be the insane amount of anchor patterns within the three long jumpstreams. In particular, there are a ton of consecutive [13] jumps within the streams that are a huge pain for me to execute cleanly. You better be on a sugar high before playing this file! |

Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
Well fixing the issue would add an extra arrow, and force everyone to play it again to correct their scores. It's more of an issue to AAAers of course. Sometimes the file can be submitted again quickly (as in, within a day or two) before a ton of scores are recorded, but I can't see that happening in this case - it wouldn't be fair to tournament players. On a normal case though, it could be fixed if corrected fast enough.
If it was one arrow less, similar deal but less of an issue. If you had more arrows though, I can't, say, modify everyone's scores and assume they perfectly hit an extra arrow (not to mention modifying everyone's scores would be rather tedious if the scoreboard gets filled up). Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
couldn't the AAA scores be modified quickly before more get done? i can't imagine people getting upset over people who aaa'd the song getting score changed, all from an easy note at the beginning

I'm hoping that 3-0-0-2 would get me through even if I don't manage to improve. This is an interesting file, I'm going to be honest >.>

Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
Man it sure would be nice if someone had the full version of beatrice without mic crackles
god damn that guy cbr PS: Willing to share with ffr this version without crackles so the song can be improved, but it will have to be cut to the file and I can't just give this out to people who want it, sorry. (It's from xi's album, Parousia and it isn't free... I'm sure you guys can find it with a bit of searching) |

(For D2)
Not gonna lie, I'm sorry Silvuh but this is not my favorite chart of yours. It has some great patterns which I need to learn, but this isn't one of my favorites. However, I do really enjoy the song. You know... just between you and me... I probz dont like it because it might eliminate me this round >.> lolz. Ssshh...

Re: Official Tournament Round 5 Song Discussion
Two ideas for fixing the song:
1) Ask the stepauthor if there is another arrow you could remove later 2) Fix it and add 50 points of raw score to everyone in that division
