Slashmaid (Instrumental) [87 or 88]
To start off, Slashmaid is nothing short of brutal.
With ridiculous jumpgluts for long periods of time and some streams thrown in into the jumpgluts as well (Which can form anchor patterned jumpstreams), it doesn't really start out calm. At the midpoint of Slashmaid, you have to do a trill-jumpstream part that's around 20 seconds long, and it's around 22 BPM (237 BPM) faster compared to La Campanella, and it has jumptrills and the trills switch direction as well. You do get a somewhat long (15-20 seconds) break after that, but then you dive into another run of handgluts and jumpstreams at around 200 BPM. Even if you're able to do the jumpstream runs, the handglut transitions are tough, and you'd definitely average rush a lot if you're not careful enough. After the jumpstream, you have to do one more run of jumpgluts. Your stamina would probably be drained by then, and at the end there are some fast streams as well. Although overall there aren't any major difficulty spikes, it's a relentless file even for high D6 players, and the jumpgluts and jumpstream aren't something you can mess with. Stats: Release Date: 12-20-11 Song Length: 3:00 Number of AAAs: 5 Number of FCs: 37 Number of Players: 1,212 Though there's 5 AAAs, it's a tournament file. There would probably be less AAAs (Well, leonid wouldn't AAA it) and there are 10 SDGs. Compared to an 88: Counter Clockwise Chant Pattern Release Date: 11-30-08 Song Length: 1:56 Number of AAAs: 5 Number of FCs: 237 Number of Players: 1,464 They have around the same amount of players, and the same amount of AAAs. Though it has 200 more FCs, and it has 20 SDGs overall. All in all, the file itself is brutal enough to be an 88. Stats probably shows a low 88 as well. Re: Slashmaid (Instrumental) [87 or 88]
Open for discussion, really on the fence with this one atm.
I have a feeling most of you will want this bumped to 88 however, which is totally fine. edit: Eh, this probably should've been 88 off the bat. A few of the other 88s have very memorable difficult sections that make them as difficult as they are (Eclipse 165bpm long 32nd stream, CCCP burstgluts + whitecolorfucced staircase), whereas Slashmaid is just consistently brutal throughout. I kinda wanna swap this file with J'ai Envie... and maybe even give FD a knock down Last edited by One Winged Angel; 09-7-2012 at 02:13 AM.. |

I never really gave this file a serious try but as a player with more control over speed, I'd swap CCCP with this anyday rofl
Brutal looking on stamina and speed imo (how would this compare with say, Extratone Pirates?) |

Re: Slashmaid (Instrumental) [87 or 88]
A month ago I would have said 88 no doubt, maybe even 89.
Then I had a speed skill boost, and now it plays like an 87. It really is one of those songs that is BRUTAL if you don't quite have the speed, yet suddenly manageable once you reach a certain threshold. Compared to other 87s, however, it definitely seems harder (other than La Camp... that seems every bit as hard if not harder). It does fit in nicely with the other 88s. Like someone said before, it is more consistently difficult while the other 88s have one or two really gross spots. In conclusion, I like 88. 90% of FFR probably finds this song more difficult than all the other 87s, so why not move it?

Re: Slashmaid (Instrumental) [87 or 88]
I'd say J'ai, CCCP, and Slashmaid are all just as comparably difficult where each file emphasizes a different skill, namely jacks, bursts, and speed/jumps respectively. It all boils down to one's skill set. Some people will argue that file A is easier than file B simply because of their skills.
Slashmaid is more appropriate in the 88 range. It's really difficult to compare a very short bursty file (grind2), a file that's pretty much simple except for a few parts (La Campanella), or a file emphasizing a lesser amount of skill as a whole (pretty much the rest of the 87s) to Slashmaid. |

Counter Clockwise Chant Pattern really is just aids to AAA. It has tricky color note sections but the stamina factor isn't nearly as much as Slashmaid.
88 for Slashmaid definitely fits more than 87. |

Re: Slashmaid (Instrumental) [87 or 88]
This song honestly fits around J'anvie. I actually find it a bit harder. Both songs have brutally fast jumpstream with horrible patterns, bust slashmaid feels much denser jump wise even if not as fast, and is longer. The song is a stamina draining mess of brutality, the jumpstream is extremely dense and the patterns very uncomfortable, it also has one handed patterns and some dumb anchors. Me being bias I feel it's an 89, but I feel it's objectively at least an 88 by comparison. It does not fit with the other 87's (Grist and Grind 2).
So I vote 88, I see no reason why this should remain 87. It's scoreboard's are also just awful compared to the other 87's, it actually has the worst scoreboards of any 88. So I assume we're all on board for 88 being the minimum, this song is just nuts
