I think the site just went down.
...lovely. EDIT: no, it's back up now. To Zanarkand should have fixed sync, and Reaver Mansion should have the skip removed in the intro. also, reiterating: those of you who have an account on DF's forums will not need the gamercard. Also, in the event of you forget to catch a screenshot, let me know and I'll look up your user ID within the database with the appropriate score. don't expect me to do it multiple times for you, though... To put it in perspective. As for the comment about you (which turned out to be AJ) that was out of line, and I'll apologize for that. I'm just sick of not even being able to give an opinion without someone jumping down my back. Let me review in peace. I always give valid reasons, if you still don't like what I say, ignore me >_<

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #7
as I said, it's all about tone and careful communication (see my previous post)
If an "opinion" is worded aggressively like an attack, it won't sound like an opinion and of course people are going to go down on ya. |

sounds like fact: "blah blah [...] is bad."
sounds like opinion: "blah blah [...] don't like." if: in terms of my enjoyment, this is as bad as... then: opinion best of both worlds. it's quite simple. |

So is this good? I wouldn't know because I haven't seen any scores from my division yet...

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #7
I'm a borderline player, so I've been told to post for both d3a and d4 to work my final placement out.
Took me two tries, because there was too much glare coming in from my window on my sighread, lmfao. Sightread 1-0-0-3 then I get down to this bull****. Now I'm mindblocked to the point where I can't hit any of the bursts properly. >.< FUUUUUU...the one time I finally AAA the jack section I decide to not-AAA the rest of the song. sdflkjsdlfkjsdlfkj Whatever, finally managed to FC this, lol. I hate being trolled into thinking I'm going to AAA the song when I'm halfway in with a AAA, only to keep realizing I still can't FC this song after numerous attempts. sdfkljdsflkj You're probably not gonna see an FC from me on this chart any time soon. :< Last edited by reuben_tate; 03-12-2012 at 08:20 PM.. |

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #7
~my thoughts~ on these files (only for the ones I bothered to play sry)
D1: Reaver Mansion: Great easy chart here. Liked the song choice on this one. Props hi19! To Zanarkand: Really cool, easy piano chart. Weird seeing you step an easy song, haha. D2: Beast Within: Dope file. Nothing too out of the ordinary. D2 should have fun with this. Ageha: Inconsistent usage of 192nds, mislabeled artist... somewhat ok for this difficulty D3: Close my Eyes: lolNightcore.. but on a serious note... vocals seemed a bit off (maybe just me) but hella fun file! gj EN Revolt: Disappointed. I was expecting something harder, haha. Great stuff nonetheless. D4: Shadows: very gud, very gud. me liek Lindsey Stirling Endless Maze: same as above, minus the Lindsey Stirling part D5: 0x1311: great restep! found this to be very enjoyable, props Scintill! S.Y.S.T.E.M.: boring, felt copy pasted + mirror/left/right, 2nd half is same as first but with jumps. mediocre at best. D6: Torinouta: good stuff here. although i felt indifferent about some of your accentuation with the quads. fun patterns, flows nice. gj ian Bad Maniacs: own file. |

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #7
Reviews
Division 1 ======= Song 1: Reaver Mansion Stepartist: hi19hi19 Converted a little weirdly, but for what it is I am happy with the outcome. Not a masterpiece, but it is easy to read for D1 and tests PA on grace notes/rolls, which was the main goal. This song is actually like 10 minutes long, worth listening to the whole thing if you're in the mood for a nice slow guitar remix of some classical songs. Song 2: To Zanarkand -cover- Stepartist: Halogen- Great sync! A few places the PR felt weird to me, but I tend to be overly sensitive to that kind of thing. Certainly it was well done in general. The only thing was a 13(24) pattern that was super easy to split, sort of stuck out from the rest of the file and I would have gone with 23(14) or 12(34) for flow. Mostly though, this file was very well done. Division 2 ======= Song 1: Beast Within Stepartist: hi19hi19 Turned out fine in FFR. I was worried about the 16th streams being too much, but they seemed appropriate. The random 8th stream is a section I definitely could have done more with, and the chorus as just quarter note jumps wound up being too easy. Fun fact: this was going to be the D1 file for Round 3 of my tournament, until I realized D1 would probably shit all over this file easily, so I had to make something harder. Song 2: Ageha Stepartist: ichliebekase Some of the jump usage in the slow parts was a little odd to me, and I couldn't tell what the white arrows were going to. The section of just quarter notes to the "dance" lyric could have been all jumps for a more consistent difficulty curve, possibly layering in the cymbal crashes as hands for variety. Honestly though it flowed fairly well and, given what you had to work with, it's about the best you could do with this song. Not bad. Division 3 ======= Song 1: Close My Eyes Stepartist: Elite Ninja dat nightcore Pretty fun. No real inconsistencies that I felt and the patterns flowed well. The section of gallops that was only on 122112 was a bit troll-y though XD Overall, fun and well made Song 2: Revolt Stepartist: Reshiram A little odd, certainly not how I would have stepped this heh Burst patterns felt nice, even the split rolls into (23) jumps had a nice flow. Not entirely sure what the color gimmicks were going to, or if they were just for sync. Overall not bad from a technical standpoint but not a personal favorite. Division 4 ======= Song 1: Shadows Stepartist: iironiic Wow. This was a really good file! The repeating 14(14) section was interesting but didn't go on for too long, just the right length. The jacks were appropriately handled, all the patterns made sense... this was just well made overall. Perhaps my only complaint would be the number of white arrows at the end haha p.s. I blackflagged it :'( Song 2: Endless Maze Stepartist: hi19hi19 Err, this is the wrong version of the file. My fixes had the 24ths as you requested, plus I fixed up the layering in other places too. Damn. Whatever, file is still fun. Beginning drags on a little bit but overall it turned out quite nice. A shame I couldn't get this into FFR but lol submission caps Division 5 ======= Song 1: 0x1311 Stepartist: Scintill Lots of fun. Nicely chosen patterns, tastefully layered without going overboard. The varied rhythms give this a lot of replay value, looking forward to whoring it for the AAA! I really like how you handled the quiet section, not sure if those are ghost arrows or not but they flow well so I don't care. Song 2: S.Y.S.T.E.M. Stepartist: Middie Pretty much the only file I really didn't like this round. It starts out pretty well, to be fair, but when the non-musically-justified 1-hand anchors kick in I no longer enjoy it. That section is super repetitive and the patterns are not fun to hit. Then the ending jumpstream doesn't flow particularly well either. Division 6 ======= Song 1: Torinouta (Noise Rave Mix) Stepartist: Housekeeper Dunno. Firstly, probably could have either stepped the talking in the long intro or cut it just for courtesy to tournament players who will be whoring it :/ Bursts felt fine, the harder ones were appropriately jumptrillable and the slower ones had decent patterns. Layering was pretty consistent and made sense. The JS at the end had some tricky trill/anchor patterns in them that were no doubt intentionally hard to hit. Overall very fun, but a little overstepped feeling. Unavoidable though with the layering you chose, so, all good. Song 2: Bad Maniacs Stepartist: Razor and DarkChrysalis About the only thing I can complain about is that the patterns in the polyrhythm climax were a little weird to read, but it wasn't too bad and they mostly seemed to fit. The beat and pacing of the song remind me strongly of The Rapids on FFR, a file I also really enjoy. I'll definitely be playing this one again for fun.

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #7
My first try on Revolt was a blackflag, second try was a AAA. I had like 7 goods on Close My Eyes and took me 10+ tries to AAA. Probably because of the pattern (jump + triplets), I suck at this. I have no problem for bursts, that's maybe one of my strongest patterns.

Revolt was easy at first, but now I'm anticipating all the bursts and thinking too much about them to hit them. Anyways, I don't plan on fixing my boo-flag, that chart made me rage enough. I'll more than make up for the boo in later rounds if Kayla ultimately decides to place me in D3A. |
