Re: shamelessly giving Melee another thread
You think that's the best match this year? I still think this one is.

Melee will always be better than Brawl

These folks are way too good at fast falling though. Those short hop fast fall neutral Bs from Falco... It'd be great if I could work my Pikachu like that, because I'm always hopping around dropping jolts. Do people still play Melee? The glitches abused in Brawl are a lot less stupid. Or maybe I'm just biased because Pikachu got meganerfed for Melee, and they made him a lot more worthwhile for Brawl again even if he's still nowhere near his former glory of N64.

I swear to god, the OP's match looks sped up hardcore
but I know it's not, I look at the timer |

Re: shamelessly giving Melee another thread
oh I didn't know mango's falco actually got decent though I still feel its a bit slower than it should be judging from when I used to play his jiggs 3-4 years ago, thou at the 5:20 mark on the game timer he was pretty quick
that peach is pretty good I've never heard of him though, and I don't especially like his play style. He really shouldn't have done as well as he did either (you can really tell the falco was fooling around at the start) and there's a bit of a lack of mindgaming but what can you expect from 09 players melee has just turned into "hey lets charge at eachother and play rock paper scissors with our priorities ok" I've seen much more funny/close/intense matches in my time though its kind of difficult to appreciate a match like this when you know at least one player is not taking it seriously also melee can never have too many threads |

Re: shamelessly giving Melee another thread
No... it is a much better game from a technical perspective. It's more robust, it's physics bugs are less illogical, it has better graphics, more characters and levels. And not to mention it's 1 player mode is more expansive than any other Smash Bros. game yet.
You're free to like Melee if you like, it's just of a lower technical quality. Like Super Mario Bros. I love the game, but it's of a lower technical quality than Super Mario World. It's to be expected.

Re: shamelessly giving Melee another thread
graphics, characters, and levels(last one sorta) dont make good competitive gameplay. show me one insane, intense, close, memorable match that brawl has...

(avg. player's perspective)
Ending to the first one was great. I'm pretty sure part of the middle was sped up. Why Touhou music is my question... The M2K comeback was pretty ridiculous too. wtf

I don't need to prove anything to you. A game being of a technically lower quality doesn't mean anything to what you're even talking about.

Re: shamelessly giving Melee another thread
Relevant bump.
Brawl+ looks somewhat promising in making Brawl actually competitive. I haven't had the chance to actually try it though. |

Oh man I googled Brawl+ and got the biggest boner ever.
Finally, a reason to repair my Wii. |

Re: shamelessly giving Melee another thread
lmao they're hacking brawl to add glitches in from melee and to make it faster
Some of their ideas are dandy (stage hazards are gay, and so is tripping), but sorry, glitches that are intentionally removed shouldn't be hacked back in lol ps lol @ no stale move negation why on earth would anyone think that's a good idea pps some of the moveset mods sound pretty neato too, but since they're not bringing back Pikachu's N64 moves I don't really care

Re: shamelessly giving Melee another thread
A glitch that is purposely put into a game is no longer a glitch. In the original Street Fighter, combos were a glitch.

But you see, while Street Fighter acknowledged and built a glitch into a major feature, Smash Bros. fixed theirs in the next game. If Brawl had adapted wavedashing into an actual feature, your analogy would be apt, but as they removed it, there is no parallel here. I don't too much mind people abusing glitches in old games, but trying to reintroduce them to a newer game is stupid. And yeah, it says it's not officially a default part of what they're doing with the hack, but I doubt if the majority of people would be THAT interested in "improving" Brawl if they weren't wavedash douchebags. If I recall from reading that smashwiki article the other day, the project was originally started as a means to bring things about Melee into Brawl, things that were intentionally not ported over. Yeah. Maybe "Melee++" would be a better name? And if they make it possible to play with wavedashing, that's how people will play it because they're dumbasses. They'd rather play a more technical game with terrible physics bugs than a game with better (read: less broken) physics. Just because something takes technical skill doesn't mean it's a good function of the game.

Yeah, but Melee matches are more entertaining to watch.
