Question about advertisements
Hey. I'm not really sure where would be most appropriate to post this, so if it should go elsewhere, I would appreciate a mod/admin to move it. It doesn't really seem to fit in any of the categories that I can tell but this seemed "best" fit.
Anyway, I know the website is supported by both subscriber members and also by advertisements. What I was wondering is, is it better (as in, does it help the site more) for those of us who are not subscriber members to click on a few of the advertisements from time to time or does that not really matter, so much as they get displayed, as far as helping out the site more. If it does help the site more (gets more money) for advertisement clicks I'll probably be more inclined to click a few every now and then. After all I realize money is tight/short/etc and every little bit helps. And this is a fun website game service and community. Also, I don't know if you have any control over what kinds of advertisements you accept/etc... or if they are more dictated to you, but if you have a say in it, prefer ones which aren't Flash over ones which are (unless you get more money for the Flash adverts or something). Also you may want to check the borders of the advertisements as I ran into at least one ad which extended beyond its square space and actually covered up the area where you login and put your password so I had to refresh to get a different ad so I could log in. Might want to look into that. (I believe it said something like "green porno", weird as that sounds, from I think independent film channel). |

Re: Question about advertisements
clicking the ads wont give them more money as long as the ad gets displayed

Re: Question about advertisements
1. Clicking ads DOES increase our ad revenue... most campaigns are CPM with added bonuses on CPC.
2. We will lose our ad revenue and ability to work with the ad companies if we encourage any of our users to click on ads. So, I'm not doing that. 3. If your IP clicks a ton of ads consistently, your clicks will wind up being discounted by the ad company and we won't get anything. The ad companies are wise to all the vast money making tricks that sites and whatnot can use to try and increase their ad revenue at the cost of the advertisers. So they'll just nullify any clicks/impressions that they feel are not valid. Hope that helps.

Re: Question about advertisements
Ah, gotcha.
Yeah, it helps clear things up. Thanks. I think you explained things really well. I guess I'll just click as per usual then, like if something interests me or I'm bored or something. Nothing excessive. |
