This thread fails. It doesn't have Death Note or One Piece, and yet it has Invader Zim...

Agreed. It's impossible to list all the different popular anime in 10 slots... but Invader Zim, pokemon?

Maybe you should do it by company. (Kyoto, Key, JUMP, Magazine, etc.)

1. Death Note (Absolutely LOVE this series! Such amazing characters!)
2. Love Hina (Really funny! Great after watching a really series anime like Death Note.)
3. Naruto (Not the best anime out there, but it is still pretty cool in my book)
4. Invader Zim (Not really an anime, but it owns enough to be on this list)
5. InuYasha (Demon dogs rule)
6. Ghost In The Shell (no explanation needed)
7. Okane Ga Nai (...yaoi smexiness...only 3 episodes though)

Okay, I think that is all for now. I have a fairly long list, but those are the ones that really stood out.

Although the term is used in Japan to refer to animation in general, in English usage the term most popularly refers to material originating from Japan, a subset of animation.

So the answer is yes and no.

But in America and most of the western world the answer is no.
