Quidditch-FFR House Cup Competition!!

Introduction :

Dear Nameless FFR-er,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been invited to Hogwart's school of Witchcraft and Wizardry where our annual quidditch-FFR house cup compeition will be held. Please find enclosed a list of all the necessary knowledge and instruction you will need. The Tournament will start August 10th. We await your post by no later than August 9th, at 11:00PM.

Yours Sincerely,

hoochie Madame Hooch.
Deputy Quidditch Ref.

The Basics :

-There are four houses. (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin)

- Each house will play each other once, resulting in three FOUR-DAY rounds

- The two teams with the most wins after these rounds will advance to the House Cup Championship, where the snitch is caught to end the entire competition. Scores will be reset for the championship round.

- People will say "in", and we will select their house AND position.

- Of these teams, there are four positions which each have there own responsibilty on their team.

The amounts of each position there are on one team are as follows :
4 Chasers
2 Beaters
2 Keepers
1 Seeker

Remember, each position on the field is like a division, and will play from their own song.
(4) people in the seeker division - 1 for each house
(8) people in the Keeper Division - 2 for each house
(8) People in the Beater division - 2 for each house
(16) People in the Chaser Division - 4 for each house

If there is no space for you on any team, and you're of a higher or lower skill level than we are looking for, we will have to not let you particpate. Remember, first come first serve.

Positions/what your positions mean :

Because of the awfully difficult task of evenly scattering players to make fair teams, we have devised a simple system.

Chasers : They will be beginning/to lower intermediate players. Their songs will be the easiest, but in turn, they will hold the least responsibility over the team
Special abilities : None, they just play their song.

Beaters : Less of these, they will be upper intermediate to Lower Advanced players. Their songs will be more difficult, but this is only because they can stop the chasers from scoring.
Special abilities : If both their PA is equal to or better than a chaser on the opposing team, they may make that one chaser's score null and void when the round ends.

Keeper : In addition to Chasers and Beaters, The keeper of the team is essentially the seeds 2 and 3, or second and third best players presumably on that team. Their song is even harder than the Beaters'.
Special abilities : If both Keepers' PA is equal to, or better than two out of the four chasers on the opposing team, you can choose to block one of an opposing chaser's "shots" at the end of the round, as if it didn't count.

Seeker : And of course, there is the seeker. This is the number one seed on the team. Just like a normal seeker, this person has the power to end the game. The way a seeker ends the game is to AAA his/her song.
Special abilities/notes : They will start 24 hours after the initial releasing of the round. After that, the first seeker to AAA his song ends the round and adds 80 points to their team's score. If there is no successful seeker in AAA'ing, the round ends in four day's time.

If you all collaborate your scores together, you can use your unique special abilities to try and lower your opponent's chances of winning.
________________________________________________________________________________________________

A scoring system :

Now, all this talk of AAA'ing to get your team some points is not the only way to get quick points.

In fact, we don't expect everyone to AAA every song, so there is a point system. This awards a certain amount of points to your house when the round ends.

- AAAs will recieve 50 points. It is automatically deemed the highest score on the field for the division. (position)

- If you are a seeker and AAA, the match ends immediately, and your team gets 80 points.

*Of all the people on the field starting with AAAs...*

Chasers -
Highest score gets 30 points for their team.
2nd gets 26
3rd - 22
4th - 18
5th - 14
6th - 10
7th - 6
8th - 2

Beaters -
1st - 30
2nd - 25
3rd - 20
4th - 15

Keepers -
1st - 40
2nd - 30
3rd - 20
4th - 10

Seekers -
1st - 40
2nd - 20

Set to an example :

The match is Hufflepuff vs. Ravenclaw, and the round has ended in a spectacular finish where Crazypandemonium catches the snitch just in the nick of time.

There was two beaters on each team, making 4 total. Their scores were as follows :

AAA, AAA, (2-0-0-0), (43-0-0-0)

According to the point system, these scores would rank :

1st - AAA, AAA - (50 points each)
2nd - (2-0-0-0) - (25 points)
3rd - (43-0-0-0) - (20 points)

Notice how the AAA tie did not move down the second highest scorer.
__________________________________________________________________________________

A note to the seekers :
Although you start 24 hours AFTER everyone else, once you have AAA'd your song (If either of you do), the match comes to a halt wherever it is at. We will release your song 24 hours after everyone else's, so there is no jumping ahead.
It may not be wise to get an AAA right away seekers. It may be better to let your team build up more points first.

In Closing,

- Say you're in
- Read over the rules
- Have yourself a bloody brilliant time

Oh ya, and the Prize,
_The winning team will split 75,000 credits among themselves. Further detailed description of this is soon to follow_

Distribution :
Seeker - 11,000 Credits
Keepers - 10,000 Credits (for each of the 2 keepers)
Beaters - 8,000 Credits (for each of the 2 beaters)
Chasers - 7,000 Credits (for each of the 4 chasers)
