Re: Final Fantasy 13
I've seen my brother play this game and it was vastly different from any kind of rpg battle system I've ever seen. It still looks entertaining so if I ever got around to it I would probably try it out.
I've also heard that they are making a Final Fantasy XIV-2... Is this true? |

Re: Final Fantasy 13
My mistake, I did mean 13. That doesn't really answer whether there really is a 13-2 or not.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
Sorry to say but I didn't think FFXIII was a good game because::
1.) The plot was very dull 2.) Most of the people like it because it's on PS3 or Xbox 360 and they think graphics will get it attention as a game. 3.) Unlike FFXII, there's no choice of picking a different weapon in the game. Everyone have their own weapon and needed to upgrade from there. But there's improvements I seen so far. 1.) They finally fix the experience system from FFX and FFXII (although you need licence points for FFXII and it's very hard to get the licence that you need to beat the game.) 2.) The battle system was amazing to see and I like it fast paced. I don't understand why some people complained about this? It was a optional in FFXII and some people enjoyed it that way. 3.) The challenges was pretty decent to me. (in my opinion) After FFVII and FFVIII came out, I gave up keeping up with it and I'm not even going to bother with FXIV. I'm just saying what I have in mind about this game.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
Was pretty fun overall. The characters were immensely more lovable than the ones in FFXII. The art and graphics were really impressing. Music was pretty good too even though I found out that most of the times, it's just the same theme over and over with slight variations lol. Also, the fighting system was pretty neat. It was fresh and fun.
What I did hate though is the fact that the game made me walk through linear corridors for 30 hours. Pulse was fun at least. I think that the only good things FFXII did well was the license mechanics and the it's open world. Put the FFXII open world into FFXIII and it would have been great. Final boss was a pain in the ass. I mean seriously. I spent 2 hours on it. Odin was though too lol |

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I would love to say something about FFXIII, but I have not played it on account of I don't trust any FF game after the tenth one.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I loved it... Pulse was pretty good, but really, it was a big grassy field full of fluffy animals with chainsaws for teeth, machine guns for reproductive organs, and cyanide for blood. Was the disc 2 endboss Barty on the rusty bridge?
Graphics were great, music was great (albeit recycled through various themes), loved the battle system... Orphan (not the freak mutant one) was shit easy to beat. edit: forgot about that whiny ****** Hope. It's always "I hate everyone" or "We're all going to die" with that guy. He even had the gonads to hate on Snow. Last edited by supermousie; 06-10-2011 at 11:54 PM.. |

Re: Final Fantasy 13
Personally loved 13, not because of the story however. I am not saying it was bad, but it wasn't great by any means. I loved the change in pace that the game brought through the battle system. It was fun, new, and always had me on my toes. It's not like I could leave and come back and still be alive. As much as i love classic turned based style i enjoyed this just as much, and I think that is rare.
Secondly, I know that had any other name been slapped on this game die hard fans would not be complaining about how different it was. It probably would have been met with much more praise. It wasn't a traditional Final Fantasy, but it was amazing none the less. Only complaint that I have is the freedom of the game. I hate RPG's that give the player almost no freedom and this what this game felt like to me. The side missions were all kill this monster, and not even able to be done till late chapter 11. Although I did enjoy completing them all. Last one is fun as hell to fight. People say there was freedom in character customization, but after you max out your characters they all feel the same. Were it not for specification to certain classes within each character there wold have been no need to even switch them out. I am hoping these problems are fixed in the next installment. I know I will be getting it either way just because of the name.. Which makes me feel sad inside. xD

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I loved Final Fantasy 13. Haters gonna hate. I think it was great for many reasons. It's too late for me to elaborate on those reasons, but I put countless hours into it.
Also to the guy that said he hasn't tried it because he doesn't trust any FF game after 10... How do you know if something's worthy or not without trying it. I think it's silly to not want to play a game because you have some sort of vendetta about past shiz. Take in everything in life. Even if you end up thinking it's bad, it's experience and knowledge to add to your arsenal. |

1: Money issues 2: I've heard mixed reviews about XII and XIII but haven't heard anything about XI. My brother hated XII because of the battle system on how it was real-time and there was a line that showed enemies hiding (he didn't hate it because it was real-time, but because it had a mix of the two things I just mentioned). He said it completely ruined the enemies surprise attacks, making the game too easy.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I thought it was great. Sure, I think it could have been better...I think it certainly had the potential to be the best game in the series. It didn't meet that mark though, and I think people focus on that more than some of the amazing features in this game for some reason.
Pulse was fantastic, and honestly I do definitely feel the entire game should have been structured similarly. It would have taken the game to an entirely new level by simply removing the feeling of linearity. Other than that though, the game wasn't any more restrictive than a lot of the other FFs in many respects. Replay 9, 10, 10-2, hell even some of the older ones for that matter; many of them are surprisingly linear if you're looking for it. They, however, have the illusion of being non-linear, whereas 13 does not On the plus side, FF13 has what I would consider to be the best battle system in the series, some of the most epic battles in the series, an interesting story line with great voice acting and cinematics (seriously, how was it NOT one of the best stories in the series? Talk about glorified memories of the old games; replay them, the stories really aren't that great), a finely tuned difficulty and flow to the game, among other things. It was just a lot of fun to play. It's sad that it missed the mark by such a small margin, only to take so much crap from people, but hopefully they get it right with 13-2. I should get around to replaying 13 sometime. It's the only game in the series I haven't beaten at least twice now. Quote:
It was also reviewed HIGHLY favorably by reviewers. Why trust the opinion of your brother? See: IGN (9.5): http://ps2.ign.com/articles/741/741991p1.html Gamespot (9.0): http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/fina...y12/index.html 12 was amazing on so many levels. Check it out!

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I absolutely loved Final Fantasy 13, I thought it was incredibly well done and well thought out. The one thing I like the most about it is that it's a combined effort of previous games. I loved every single one of the characters and how their stories were all special and unique.
The Paradigm/Crystarium systems took some time to get used to but after you get the hang of things, it was definitely one of the better battle systems in FF history (better than the Sphere grid, Garment Grid (****ing joke), etc.) It took me all of last summer to beat it but it was definitely worth it and nowhere near a disappointment. Not to mention the graphics were amazing. Just talking about it makes me want to go play it again. |

You're putting all of your stock into one opinion, and then using anecdotal evidence of homefront to prove a point that has nothing to do with anything. Also, I just checked the ratings on both sites. Both of the sites gave it a 7.0, and both sites had reviewer averages between 6 and 7 across all systems. Your loss.
