Omnipwn Tournament: Dual Core (100k Grand Prize)
Grand Prize: 100,000 Credits Second Prize: 80,000 Credits Greetings again, fellow Flash Flash Revolution enthusiasts -- this is MrRubix here with the help of Sprite, who has agreed to help post for this tournament. Winter Break has rolled around for most of us, making it an ideal time to kick-start the next installment of the Omnipwn series. The first Omnipwn tournament was quite successful (click here to see for yourself). After having run such a tournament, I have a better idea as to what people can accomplish and what can be improved from past experiences. And thus, without further ado, I present to you the Omnipwn Tournament: Dual Core. This style of tournament is different from other FFR Tournaments in the sense that it does not revolve around FFR. I will put up a challenge, and then assign points based on critiera I shall describe in each round. Each round has a maximum of 1000 points. The challenges will revolve around other Flash games, so no FFR skills are needed here. Again this is NOT an FFR-based tournament. Furthermore, there are no eliminations in this game. Nor are rounds ever over, so missing a round is okay because you can do it later. You could join this tournament on the last day and still win if you somehow managed to complete all the rounds in one sitting, but of course, this would be difficult due to the difficulty of certain rounds, so I would not advise doing this. What determines your overall rank in the tournament is your rank in each round, and therefore your overall point accumulation. You have to be among the most skilled and diversified players to survive this tournament. Some rounds will be a function of skill: Points will be awarded based on the level of achievement reached, such as a high score. First rank's score is 1000, decreasing by 0.5% for each rank below. Some rounds will be a function of completion: Points will be awarded based on the level of completion achieved. Scores in these type of rounds are determined by 1000 * (player's completion / total completion possible). Method of submission: Just place a screenshot of your achievement in this thread. I will usually describe what I want the screenshot to show in a more specific format depending on the round. Do not bother cheating -- submissions are inspected carefully, and if you cheat, you will most likely be caught. Anyways, you'll all be happy to hear that there will be no Mental Challenge or Speed rounds in this game like there were in the last one. While a select few enjoyed solving abstract mental puzzles, it frustrated a large portion of the player base and caused many to stop playing. The Speed rounds catered too much to those who had free time in their schedule to be online at a given moment, and so it was unfair to those who weren't able to be here when a round began. Therefore, this tournament is more skill-based. I've also developed a much more error-free grade calculation system this time around. Scores will only be updated when a new round is posted. There are no signups. You can simply jump in and start submitting whenever you see a round you'd like to participate in! Until the first round starts, however, I'd like to get an idea for how many people would like to play. So if you are interested, please post in this thread and let me know. The first round begins December 18th. There will be 20 rounds, with a new round being added every day. On January 6th (after the 19th round ends) and 7th, there will be a break to give people time to catch up on old rounds and improve old scores. Then the final round will begin on January 8th, Round 20 shall begin, and the entire tournament will be over on January 10th. Donations would be more than welcome, as it would allow for multiple prizes in this tournament. They would be much appreciated! So again, please post and let me know if you are interested in playing. y'all are lucky that i'll be in Philly from Dec 21st-Jan 3rd and Florida from Jan 3rd-7th. Aka, very limited time to play...
so my excuse is already on the table. I'll try my best, but I don't have hours to dedicate this time around.
