Wii Music - Here to Ruin the Music Experience for Everyone
Yes, Wii Music, even worse than Rock Revolution, has arrived for the Wii. Actually, it did a while ago, but now that I got the monthly issue of Game Informer, I realize how bad it is. Here's what Game Informer had to say about it:
"Finally, Nintendo has seen fit to deliver us from the horrors of Guitar Hero and Rock Band’s intuitive gameplay, accurate mechanics, and great song selections. Thank God. Now I can stop pretending that I was having fun rocking out to Metallica and live my dream of playing backup cowbell in a cruise ship band version of “Yankee Doodle.” Yes, what an accurate statement by Game Informer Magazines!!! First of all, the song list sucks. 1. “American Patrol” the march by F.W. Meacham 2. “Animal Crossing’s K.K. Blues” by K.K. Slider 3. “Animal Crossing: Wild World” Theme 4. “Bridal Chorus” by Richard Wagner 5. “Chariots of Fire” by Vangelis (from Chariots of Fire) 6. “Daydream Believer” by The Monkees 7. “Do-Re-Mi” by Rodgers and Hammerstein (from The Sound of Music) 8. “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 9. “Every Breath You Take” by The Police 10. “F-Zero Mute City” Theme 11. “Happy Birthday To You” the birthday celebration song 12. “I’ll Be There” by The Jackson 5 13. “I’ve Never Been to Me” by Charlene 14. “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms 15. “La Bamba” the Mexican folk song 16. “La Cucaracha” the Spanish folk song 17. “Legend of Zelda Overworld” Theme 18. “Material Girl” by Madonna 19. “Minuet in G major” by Johann Sebastian Bach 20. “My Grandfather’s Clock” the bluegrass song by Henry Clay Work 21. “O Christmas Tree” the Christmas carol 22. “Oh My Darling, Clementine” the American folk ballad 23. “On the bridge of Avignon” the French song about the Pont d’Avignon 24. “Over the Waves” by Juventino Rosas 25. “Overture” from the opera Carmen 26. “Please Mr. Postman” by The Marvelettes 27. “Sakura Sakura” the Japanese cherry blossom folk song 28. “Scarborough Fair” the traditional English ballad 29. “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire 30. “Sukiyaki” by Kyu Sakamoto 31. “Super Mario Bros.” Theme 32. “Swan Lake” the ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky 33. “Symphony No. 1’s Titan” by Gustav Mahler 34. “Symphony No. 9’s From the New World” by Antonin Dvorak 35. “Symphony No. 9’s Ode to Joy” by Ludwig van Beethoven 36. “The Blue Danube” the waltz by Johann Strauss II 37. “The Entertainer” by Billy Joel 38. “The Flea Waltz” is usually the first piano piece learned 39. “The Four Seasons’ Spring (La Primavera)” by Antonio Vivaldi 40. “The Loco-Motion” by Little Eva 41. “Troika” the Russian folk song 42. “Turkey in the Straw” the American folk song 43. “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” the English nursery rhyme 44. “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham! 45. “Wii Music” Theme 46. “Wii Sports” Theme 47. “Woman” by John Lennon 48. “Yankee Doodle” the U.S. patriotical song Second of all, the gameplay sucks. All you do is press the 1 and 2 buttons for a wind instrument in any order at all, or if you're playing a string or vocal instrument, swing the remote back and forth, which usually is unresponsive. For a first-party game, Nintendo sure made this worthy of the trash can. I didn't expect this at all from a consistent software developer like Nintendo. Game Informer rated this as a 3 out of 10, which is pretty bad considering most of the games they review get at least a 6 or more. Just goes to show you that not every Nintendo-developed game is worth playing. |

Ok, most of those songs are trash. But you said ALL the songs are trash. John Lennon was on that list of people. You may leave the forum now.

I mean, come on. Who the hell wants to play "La Cucaracha" or "Happy Birthday to You" in a video game, especially a music game? You're supposed to escape stuff like that in a video game. Like the introduction of the Game Informer review, why play Yankee Doodle when you can play Metallica, one of the best bands ever created, if not THE best? So I'm sorry if I offended you by saying that EVERY song is trash. There are a few decent songs, but other than that, they do suck. |

Metallica is ****. Also, there's Wham!, and The Police, what about them? Also, it's not to be a major music game, the Wii is mostly for younger kids, who would find these songs fun to play.

Game Informer Magazine says the following: "Wii Music is a poor solution to an imaginary problem. Rock Band and Guitar Hero have gotten more non-gamers and casual gamers into the hobby than any titles I can think of in the last 20 years. And guess what? They like actual gameplay, just like us." So even if it is meant to be a game for younger kids, there's no point in just swinging your remote. It's like buying a toy drum set for a little kid to freak out on, and almost as annoying. |

Re: Wii Music - Here to Ruin the Music Experience for Everyone
My thoughts about this game:
This game is targeted at the child population, hence the giant list of kid friendly songs. As these children grow older, they will pick up and fall into the rock/metal music genres and head for GH/RB, since as you said, who in the teenage group want to listen to those songs? Some are not terrible, but it's Nintendo, you should know their games and marketing strategies already from their long history. And it's a damn game, if you don't like the gameplay or the song list before hand, don't buy it.

It sounds fine to me. Your whole review is so incredibly lame it makes me hurt inside. I understand Game Informer thinks it's a bad game, but it seems like YOU are simply following the opinions of Game Informer. Let me ask you this, have you ever even played Wii Music? Doubt it.
P.S. WHY ARE YOU BACK FOOTBULLLLLLLLL AHHHHHH

Re: Wii Music - Here to Ruin the Music Experience for Everyone
I'm still buying it, because it's a rhythm game of course, and what's Rock Revolution, I plan on buying that too ;D
Leave the smart furry opinions to Hammy, and though the songs would be good for children, even kid-targeted games deserve good control and handling, if not more-so. Last edited by Flaming_Dingleberry; 11-24-2008 at 08:28 PM.. |

Oh, that's cool.
But uh, I was playing like, World Tour earlier, and the drum set was horrible. The stand was really, really flimsy, and a lot of the beats didn't even register, and that's the one for our age group, so of course Wii Music won't be good. |

It's not supposed to be as awful as you guys are making it out to be, but most reviews say it's mediocre.

I still want this game, might actually find it fun unlike GH.
Also you say the music list is ****, I highly doubt you've even heard of most of them. |

Bravo. p.s. game sux etc. don't need to repeat what has been said

Re: Wii Music - Here to Ruin the Music Experience for Everyone
Besides, I know there are people who think this thread sucks, but it's threadworthy.
Let me explain: This forum is for Music Games. I'm reporting on a music game. I'm telling people with good reasoning and textual evidence why they should not buy this game. I have experienced the game firsthand to know about it. And besides, somebody did a thread on how bad Rock Revolution is. Everyone was ok with that. Why would this thread be any different? |
