INTRO

Hey there.

First, here's a dope video:

I have been going through something of an existential slump recently, and when I was reading through this thread on FFR about social anxiety, this post really got to me:

It's a very interesting thought that the smallest act of kindness can turn a day--or maybe even a life--around, and I've decided to stop thinking about it and try putting it into practice. Starting tomorrow (Monday, September 24), I will try and do one random act of kindness for a stranger.

This thread is for suggestions/people who would like to join. I will do my best to update it daily with my progress.

1. Bring popcorn for a friend
2. Buy a cool drink for somebody
3. Leave a note of encouragement in somebody's bag

We should always be kind to people. Our society see's the worst in people, and just tries to bring each other down. No one cares that it could be just a bad day for them.

What I'm trying to get at is no one looks at a person from that persons shoes, we all look at them from ours.

Or we can all accept that nobody's perfect and stop pointing out "negative" sides of a person
Being mad and punching someone in the teeth is a perfectly human response

I usually try to do nice things for people, but sometimes people look at you like you're some sorta weirdo or something lol. That's how odd kindness is to people I guess.

I'm a delivery driver, I make people happy all the time.

I just smile a lot, and always super nice and polite, lots of have a great evenings escape my mouth. I tend to ask people how they are doing, which kinda kills me because I never worry about myself.

Day 1

First, I technically broke my own rule today, as nobody could know that I was doing anything.

We have midterms in two days, and as usual, everybody is stressed out. One friend of mine posted on Facebook that she was really craving popcorn (even though she's trying to eat healthier these days), so I made a mental note and prepped this bag/note before I went to bed Sunday night:

Figuring out a way to get it to her without her knowing that it was me was difficult, so I got a friend of mine to distract her while I threw it into her locker and duck-crawled out of the classroom. Unfortunately, the jig was up since I forgot to tell him not to tell her who I was.

Still felt very fuzzy inside, though, and it was a bright spot in what was otherwise a dread-filled day. Next time, I'll try to be more sneaky

Day 2: I don't go to school tomorrow, so it should be a little easier. Still thinking of something to do, but I have a little time!

I was walking down the hill from school this afternoon and heard two friends greet each other by calling each other...idiots (actually, it was probably a worse word, but I don't know how to translate it). What you pointed out is actually really severe in Korea; people don't trust each other to the point where a kind of blunt hostility has become the norm even among comrades. It's a little sad to see.

I honestly envy you--I would love to try out a job in the food/service industry in the future. It must be interesting to meet all these people, hahaa.

Yea it's sad :/

And haha, I'm a waitress. I actually had some foreign people today. Two I think were Japanese, the one girl didn't speak english at all. Then I had a table of guys that spoke very little English lol. It was interesting. But yea it's okay, but you deal with a lot of BS in the food/service industry.

Well here's how I help humanity:

Being Canadian, we often have a problem of leaving the door open for each other too much. Sometimes we'll stand there awkwardly because we no longer know who has the right of way and who was holding the door for who. It's a little silly sometimes. It has become a reflex now to just hold the door open for 4-5 people in a row.

I enjoy making senior citizens' lives a little better every day by going that extra little mile to make their last years enjoyable, since my work is 99% of the time the last place they'll be before they pass away.

fuuuuuuuuuuck I thought this was just me being retarded and not knowing how to stop being a door holder. I usually hold it open until I see an opening/gap in the people.

Anyway the fact that people are doing nice things during the Canadian night (even if it's over in Korea) makes me feel a little bit better about the situation of the world somehow. I'll try my hardest to find some way to make someone happy today, because you succeeded, Moches.
