i have 3/4 of mine and sometime when I play with the unrevealed one with my tongue the same happens to me, take a couple Ibuprofin or T3 idc pick your poison and sleep on it, it should go away. if not then seek medical attention.

Edit: Salt water rinses are also a good idea but I dont think this swelling is similar to the way a canchor sore works so idk... but dont take my word for it I only have my level C First aid, not a PHD in mouth sciences.

Oh, I have a PhD in mouth sciences. Salt water helps, and ice is useful to directly reduce the inflammation. It might be impacted though, which could lead to complications, so it's probably best to have a dentist or general practitioner take a closer look when you have time.

Did this just happen randomly? Not after wisdom teeth removal or anything? If the swelling happened after your wisdom tooth was removed, it's a normal part of the healing process! Otherwise... it might be a sign your wisdom tooth is impacted, and needs to be removed. For now, the salt-water rinse is good to help reduce pain/swelling and infection (which might be causing the pain and swelling), and as qqwref said, applying ice will help to minimise inflammation. Definitely see your dentist as soon as possible though. If your dentist isn't available, try your doctor. Hope you get better!

Uh, do not attempt home remedies. Go to your dentist asap. Don't mess around when it comes to things like this.

Are your wisdom teeth even erupted? I'm guessing no, in which case when did you last see your dentist and get a panorex and what did he tell you about them?

Because either they're erupting, in which case they can prescribe you analgesics, or you have a serious problem that needs to be dealt with, so going is win win.

This.

I had all four removed the same day when I thought I only had an issue with one of them.

mine have been growing in for a while now. the other week they were pinching my gums, but thats gone now. none of them are impacted or anything. haven't been to the dentist to see if they want them taken out or to leave them yet

all i know is that there are over the counter numbing things for your gums you can try to see if that will help

They have all erupted perfectly fine but this one got food in between the gums and the tooth so its now infected...

EDIT: The infection doesn't look near as bad from doing the salt-water rinses + scrubbing with my toothbrush.

Does everyone need to get their wisdom teeth removed? I'm 18 now and I have never had a problem with my wisdom teeth, or even any of my teeth. I've never even had a toothache. I also haven't been to the dentist in years. My wisdom teeth look and feel just as normal as the rest of my teeth

Yeah...if it's impacted it's better now than later to go to the dentist. :/

Same here for wisdom teeth. No pain really, my parents still have theirs too. Only had 2 cavities one day, at the same time :V

My brother's getting of four of his out this week or next. I got all four of mine out in 2006 right before I started college.

He's getting pills and gas. I got pills and a shot.

Good to hear the salt-water rinse is helping! It would still be good to go to your dentist though. You might need antibiotics to get rid of the infection (and prevent it from getting worse).

If your wisdom teeth aren't causing you any problems, then you don't need to get them removed.
